Holtz is playing for NJ and scored 2 yesterday. He was taken one pick before Quinn and played last season in the AHL and a few games with NJ as well. Each team looks at this tournament differently. I don’t have a problem with Quinn and JJ not playing but it wouldn’t have been blasphemous if they did.

Levi is 4th. I agree that those guys shouldn’t play and many of the others can’t play because they are with their teams already. The point of posting the article was to give some perspective to the fact that this roster doesn’t truly represent the prospect pool. After following this tournament since its inception I have seen some fans that don’t follow things as closely and come into this thinking that this roster literally represents the prospect corps. If they had lost to Montreal there are some that would post “Well Montreal’s rebuild is already ahead of ours” or that a prospect is a bust because he didn’t explode in his first competitive game in a few months. (And I’m not talking about anyone here😀 I tend to visit a few different boards)

Remember the thing with this tournament is the top picks for each team want to play well but they also have one eye on main camp which starts right after so they also want to get through it unscathed. A lot of the lesser lights shine more because this is their only chance to make an impression and they go all out to try and catch someone’s eye.

Wow, this might be the longest post I have read😁 Montreal will pump anything he does, he is their 1oa pick. He is a huge kid with good hands. I thought Beck and Mesar were better players for them last night but they aren’t as sexy as the #1 pick. He will either learn to keep his head up or his career will go the way Lindros did at the end. I don’t see him putting up big numbers to start but his frame will allow him to play this season in the league.

GDT: Prospects, Montreal v. Buffalo, 7pm on Sabres.com 9/15/2022

I disagree about Savoie being very quiet and Rosen being back in Europe. Both had good showings last night for what it’s worth in a summer prospects game. -
https://www.expectedbuffalo.com/expected-buffalo-2022-top-25-sabres-prospects-rankings/ Just to put this tournament into perspective, the Sabres are missing 13 of their top 20 prospects, 14 of Bloom is done for the tournament, including their top 4 ranked. Shows that the organization has a lot of depth at this point.

I would bet money that Kozak will be a special Mike Peca project over the next couple years. -

Does Adams’ jacket have an all blue logo or was the logo ripped off? Weird -

I remember you liked him a lot. I would still take Kulich but Beck is a very good player. -

I wouldn’t read too much into this weekend. Most guys haven’t played in a couple months and they have had one real practice as a group. Watch for fun but don’t read a ton into these games. -
The Habs are sending a very talented group to this tournament. They are stacked up front and on the blue line (not sure about in net).
-
Appert looks like Marc Crawford. What I have learned this summer: we can have Kulich or Savoie on the ice but you can’t have Kulich and Savoie on the ice.😁 I Hope Kulich is fine and can play a couple games in this tournament.

McCabe is a warrior but a medical mess. Spine surgery sounds like something you don’t come back from in a few months.
-
Dr. Who as video coordinator. Nice
-
Owen Power blowing his knee out in the prospects challenge and missing the Sabres season would go over REALLY WELL. I think JJ and Quinn not playing tells that the Sabres think they will be on the team this season.
-
Looks like a lot of talent up front, dicey on the backend and scary in net. They will have to run and gun to be successful. It will be great to get our fist looks at Savoie and Kisakov.
-
From the article: ”Olivier Nadeau , the 2021 fourth-round pick who also signed his entry-level contract after a productive QMJHL season, is included on the Prospects Challenge roster but is not expected to play after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery” Looks like Pekar is out with an injury as well and won’t play.
-
Looks like Watt might have torn his pec. Huge loss.
-
“As expected Power, Quinn and Peterka not playing in Prospects Challenge per Lance Lysowski.”
-
That came up fast. I hope they release the prospects roster soon. Just please tell me Savoie is healthy and good to go.
-
I agree. One person I hope the Sabres keep and eventually move up is Peca. He is a guy that gets it and seems to have a good rapport with the young kids coming into the organization. I have a feeling that in a few years when this team starts doing damage that Peca will be behind the Sabres bench in some capacity.

Annual expectations thread 2022/23: #46 Ilya Lyubushkin

You will like him. Plays a Rhett Warrener type of game. He is exactly the type of dman this group needed. He won’t be sexy like the other dman but he will be solid.
