I put Cozens as untouchable. Heart and soul leader. Dubois and Cozens had tremendous chemistry at the Worlds. I would aquire Dubois to play with Cozens on a playoff warrior line. I don’t see it as likely but if it was Dubois with a worked out extension for #9, Mitts, Johnson I would do it and I like Mitts a lot.

Marek reported it on the 32 Thoughts intermission report. Spoke to Chevaldeoff. I don’t know if the the not starting negotiations with Dubois and restocking the prospect line were connected or separate points as he said them one after the other. Dubois wanted out of Columbus because of Torts. They traded him for Laine in a move of young guys needing a new start. Most players aren’t fans of living in Winnipeg and the dressing room is a mess. It was reported the other day that Scheifele might be staying and he is thought of as the ringleader of that room. I don’t know if Dubois told him he won’t sign there long term. There is a lot of turmoil there. I just think he would fit here as a power centre who has great chemistry with Cozens and would like playing for Granato and the culture here. But who knows.

Jets GM says they haven’t started talks with Dubois and want to restock their prospects pool. Would you trade #9 as part of a package for Dubois? The pick would be a main piece if the deal. I could see the Jets wanting Manitoba boy Geekie if he is there at 9. Winnipeg have trouble keeping players that want to stay there. Getting a young home grown star would be big. Dubois and Cozens give you a dominating playoff line for the next decade. What if Adams goes massive and tries to land Dubois and Hellebuyck? Probably not going to happen but nothing at 9 enthuses me as much as adding a stud like Dubois.

Offseason Gameplan 2022 - Solving the goaltending system wide.

Can we get back to discussing goaltenders. Gibson, Hellebuyck, Kuemper, Husso, Campbell, DeSmith, Comrie etc. Who you want, what are you willing to pay? -
These are the type of crazily obsessed tendencies I want in my goaltender. This is how greatness is reached.

With the Nightengale connection I would be shocked if the Sabres didn’t go to the U.S. team for a couple of selections. -

Two things though: 1) How much money has Pegula authorizes Adams to spend. Maybe he can’t go much past the floor 2) I don’t want cap dumps coming on that can play. The team has great chemistry and a good culture now, those guys mess it up. If it is someone like Weber that can’t play and Montreal gives you good assets to take the contract fine but not some guy that will come in and take ice time from younger guys. I have no problem trading for a guy with salary if he is a good player and fits with the culture but hard no to the Lucics and Monahans of the world. -
There rebuild consists of a world class goalie playing for them and a world class offensive forward Panarin) and world class young dman (Fox) deciding he would only sign with them. They got tremendous draft luck with the lottery but Laf and Kakko are no great shakes at this point. Put Georgiev in net as their starter and they don’t even sniff the playoffs.

People getting angry that someone wants to come back to the organization is comical. No one is saying he is taking a top 4 spot, even top 6. Let him come to camp. If he makes it great. If not, put him on waivers for the Amerks or flip him for a pick. He is head and shoulders above what played for Rochester this season.

2022 NHL Draft Combine: May 30th-June 4th, Buffalo NY

If a kid is a top prospect for the draft but can’t do a pull up or push up or whatever that is the kid I want to draft. They have gotten there on talent, once you correct that issue they will be so much better. -

Give me a break. Vasilevskiy has a rough game one and that is it? He did nothing to get them by the Leafs and Panthers? -
Or trade him. Getting anything for an asset you were going to get nothing for is a win. I liked Pilut. He could be a depth piece or a stud in the AHL if he agreed to that. He wants out of Russia for obvious reasons. He has no choice but to return to Buffalo if he wants to play here.

Anyone know if this means he wants them to interview with the Sabres or not? -

You are focused on the testing. It is the interview process that is much more meaningful. -
Neither team is capable of shutting it down defensively. It could be a record setting series offensively.
-
This is not surprising. Jerry Forton in his interview was not happy with organization Rosen was with in Sweden and that they didn’t have a direct farm team to send Rosen to so he could develop.
-
You don’t see many playoff games where both goalies are replaced. the Oilers are like watching Gretzky, Mess, Kurri, Anderson, Coffey and the gang all over again.
-
Rosen has blazing speed and a sniper’s shot. Needs to put on weight and strength.
-
Kukkonen did. But you have to remember that you can only have 50 contracts so you don’t want to waste one on a player that you don’t see any future in.
-
From Lance Lysowskis article: “The AHL will be a significant adjustment for Rosen. In addition to the smaller ice surface, he will need to learn how to create offense in a more physical, chaotic game. There will be opportunity to learn and develop, especially if Quinn and Peterka make the Sabres’ roster out of training camp. Rosen can play top-six minutes and special teams. If both join the Sabres, Appert will still have prospects to coach, including Rosen, Kisakov, Lukas Rousek, Linus Weissbach and Brandon Biro. But if Peterka or Quinn are back in Rochester to start the season, the Sabres have a way to ensure Rosen can still develop and receive the necessary playing time. A source told The News that Rosen has a clause in his contract that allows him to be loaned back to a team in Sweden before December if he's not playing enough. The move can be made if Rosen needs a top-six opportunity.” Seems like they are bringing him over to develop.

Well Anaheim have iced an awful team. That is where the analytics dept and Bales would have to come into play. Are his numbers caused by the team or has his play fallen off.
-
Use a first +Johnson + to aquire Gibson or sign a UFA goalie to be the starter next year: Kuemper, Campbell, Husso, etc. Or sign two goalies to create a tandem: Desmith+Comrie They need new, competent blood in the crease next season in order to make a meaningful step forward. You can have all the young guys you want progressing but if you are fishing the puck out of your net constantly it doesn’t mean squat.
