  1. Rousek has been a nice add. Fantastic wheels and some sniping ability. Looks like Weissbach is done for the playoffs and Rousek has filled that role.
  2. They took a boom/bust type guy in Rosen last year at #14. Wonder if that will play into #16 this year. If they will play it safe or if they swing for the fences again. I guess a lot will depend on who they grab at #9. My totally uninformed prediction for #9 is Gauthier or a falling Savoie.
  3. R2 has to play in the top 6 because he doesn’t play a defensive or checking game to play bottom 6. If he could adapt to a bottom 6 role you could have a PP with VO on one unit and R2 on the other both in that one timer spot.
  4. If it is 3-3 going into OT against the Amerks just walk away. Every win has been 4-3 in OT. I felt bad for Quinn on that tying goal. Glad to see the Amerks picked him up. He needs a goal to get him going. JJ, R2 and Krebs are driving the bus so far these playoffs. So great to see.
  5. Absolutely no to Marner and a 1st for Dahlin. The Leafs died the day they signed Tavares. They had Matthews, Marner and Nylander all coming up for new contracts and those deals crippled the franchise. Dubas did a masterful job this season putting a team together with such limited cap space but in the end the result was the same. 0-9 in games to put a series away. That is a mental weakness in your core. They have like $2 million to sign 8 players. Nylander has been their best forward the last two playoffs but he will have to go. No one is touching Tavares with a ten foot pole, they are not trading Matthews and Marner is BFFs with Matthews and the Toronto kid. But moving Nylander won’t be about bringing a top end dman back. It will be about futures to open up some cap space they are desperate for to ice a team. I don’t Know what they do in net. Pray that Kallgren becomes a saviour. They can’t resign Campbell unless he wants $750,000 a year.
  6. Don’t watch this video. I know you are not going to want to watch this video.😀
  7. Leafs will also lose a couple of their low key difference makers in Mikheyev and Engvall and probably have to move Kerfoot. They have no young goalie to come up so I don’t know what they do. They have something like $2.5 million to sign 8 guys. One of the most alarming stats I have seen with this Leafs team is: Record in games where they can close out a series: 0-9 There is a massive mental issue with that group.
  8. Invaluable experience for JJ and Krebs. Need Quinn to pick it up here. Any word on Muel? Nice that Davidson is back.
  9. This isn’t the thread for this but if you think Hughes is a better dman then Dahlin then I can’t take any of your takes seriously.
  10. https://www.tsn.ca/shane-wright-logan-cooley-juraj-slafkovsky-nhl-draft-1.1797803 I don’t know if this was posted or not. It was from draft lottery day. It is Mckenzie’s top 5 (7 really) 1)Wright 2) Slafkovsky 3) Cooley 4) Nemec 5) Kemell with Jiricek And Savoie next.
  11. Vaisilesky has been brutal. He looks absolutely lost in net. He is going to have to find his game for Game 7. Leafs have outplayed them this series but it comes down to one game and the Leafs and Game 7s do not get along at all.
  12. If you have watched the AHL playoffs, Quinn has struggled while Krebs and Peterka have played well. Quinn will need to engage more consistently to make the Sabres next year.
  13. 5’10, 150lbs He has got those Jagger Firkus measurements. hopefully he bulks up some.
  14. Let’s not forget the Leafs are the higher seed and finished as one of the top teams in the league. TB aren’t down to an inferior team. I expect them to pour it on in Game 6 and see where the chips fall in a 7th game.
  15. It’s time for this Leafs group to breakthrough. Too much talent to be first round fodder every season. They can probably go on a nice run if they can finally get over the first round hump.
  16. He has not produced in the pro league and has forced his way off a couple teams. Rumours that his dad is gets too involved. He had a good start to the WJCs before they got cancelled. If he has a big WJCs in August then his stock might start to rise again. Has all the tools but hasn’t been able to put it all together.
  17. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/nhl-scouts-analysis-how-canadian-lottery-teams-could-approach-the-draft/ Not Sabres focused but a really good read from a scout’s perspective.

  19. I just don’t care. He told a story.
  20. The story he told was that when they got to the rink Koivu was basically hiding in the trainers room. The trainer had took him to get stitched up but never told the team. Saku told Rivet that he couldn’t bend over. But he DID play that night but missed the rest of the series after that game.
  21. He told the story a couple of times in varying degrees of detail. Once with Peters, once with Friedman, once on that podcast. Depends who you listened too.
  22. Rivet said that Koivu played Game 3 but didn’t play the rest of the series. He had so many stitches in his back he couldn’t bend over.
  23. If he was a great skater he probably would have been a first round pick. He is a project and the project is can they get his skating to NHL level. He seems to have all the other traits.
  24. https://www.tsn.ca/shane-wright-nhl-draft-lottery-ranking-1.1797605 Button’s latest rankings. Lots of movement. Savoie down to 17, Nazar 24th, Geekie 31st.
