The NHL draft is tricky, like MLB. Unlike NFL and NBA, most drafted do not hit the big club for a year or two. It would help if you looked at all your players, from NHL down. Look at the numbers (#centermen, # wingers, #rhd, #lhd,...) and fill them thru the draft where you think you are short. As we have seen, sometimes relying on free agency does not work.

It is incredible to me how they have handled that, Johnson. That Johnson has developed quite a big head. Someone in upper management needs to put some hands on that Johnson and straighten it out. Bringing in a vet goalie is also a risk. How many goalies are traded for or purchased as free agents and do not live up to their billing? It happens. Improve the D, and the goalies will flourish.

Comries AHL stats were 910 average save percentage. Sabres could use that.

Adams did a good job. Didn't sell the farm for one or two players. Remained patient and followed his plan. Look at Bill's cap issues. Hand-cuffed with a stud receiver and QB but nothing else. I believe the Sabres are in a better place than the Bills moving into next season. Improve the D with the right player, add the young guns in the AHL-CHL or whatever, get the four goalies playing time, and the playoffs are here.
