MISabresFan replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan agreed to a three-year contract extension by General Manager Ron Hextall. The extension will kick in at the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign, and run through the 2026-27 season. This was announced in August of 2022. Internet talk is he might become available before the new contract kicks in... -
Who will be the next Head Coach of the Buffalo Sabres?

Lol - I asked an AI program who will be the sabers next head coach. Here is the response: The Buffalo Sabres recently dismissed head coach Don Granato after a 13-season playoff drought. General Manager Kevyn Adams is now searching for a replacement. 1-Craig Berube: Former St. Louis Blues head coach who led the team to a Stanley Cup victory in 2019. Berube has experience and knows how to work quickly. 2-Bruce Boudreau: A seasoned coach who has won 1,087 games as a head coach in Anaheim, Washington, Minnesota, and Vancouver. He’s been to the playoffs 10 times in 16 seasons and won the Jack Adams Award for outstanding coaching with the Washington Capitals. 3-Dallas Eakins: Previously coached the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks. While his tenure with the Oilers was short-lived, he has a good rapport with players. 4-Gerard Gallant: Known for leading the Vegas Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup finals in their inaugural season. He also had success with the Florida Panthers and the New York Rangers. The Sabres are looking for someone who can relate to young players and push the team to perform better. The goal is to find the perfect hire and end their playoff drought. -
Biggest Sabres issue - losing the 1st period badly too often
MISabresFan replied to Big Guava's topic in The Aud Club
You would think he would be asking the tough questions. Why the bad starts? What did "we" (coaches, GM, etc.) do about it? Was there other options for correction? From there it is up to him to hand out pink slips or not. -
Sabers wont sign anyone and put anyone on the roster. They think they are in the playoffs.

Ok, maybe, lets say you have a car that doesn't like cold weather. When it is parked outsite you and start it in the morning you have to pump it three time, wait for the fuel pump to stop buzzing and turn the key(dating myself with all the push buttons today). Do you recognize the problem and do something, or just accept it that it doesn't like cold weather? Lets say you are working and have a coworker who is always late and causes work issues for you during the day. Do you do nothing and just deal with the extra headaches? Who has responsibility for the above? Poor start to games = coaches, car issues = the owner, coworker issue = management. Leadership -the action of leading a group of people or an organization. This is missing with this team. -
I am sure the media will create their own pipe dream. I still can think differently. I would not hire him as the next head coach.

Currently the Amerks have given up 10 more goals then they have scored this year. In addition, they only have like 7 guys (40 games or more) that are on the "*" side of the fence. He would not be my choice. Need "fresh" set of eyes.

How close to the playoffs will the Sabres get this year?
MISabresFan replied to Alaska John's topic in The Aud Club
I believe there is room for both if the roster is managed properly. However it remains to be seen. -
We can all speculate on what happens in the Dugout or behind closed doors. As a fan, what I see on the field is more important. There where times when he took plays off, wouldn't block, and sometimes short armed receptions. I will miss the drama and excitement he brought when he was on, but lately it was more drama than excitement.

Kevyn and Don, should we really expect more after four years?
MISabresFan replied to tom webster's topic in The Aud Club
Please share the fundamental flaws of the Sabers and fix them already. You would make every fan happy! I compare the Sabers to the Bruins, we still suck. -

It is obvious - we do expect more. -

More inept than listening to or watching in the past Rob Ray score goals -
Read complete scouting report from EP draft guide Anton is a big centre with good wheels. He is a fast skater with a long stride. He is strong on his skates and covers the puck well. He likes to come with speed and challenge the defence. He is good at deking close to his body and to take the puck to the inside. Wahlberg can truly hold on to a puck. He has the qualities needed to work the boards, extend possession, and create better offensive looks for his team.

I would try and go after a coach with a better history of winning is the jist of the whole thing for me. Neither are good enough. Maybe one does not exist??
-
Ties are not considered in "winning" percentage. It is based on WINS. I understand, compare those teams to the one that is on the ice now. Which one would you choose?
-
Games played is off by 84 for LR Not sure why the difference in the actual numbers between the two sites. 80 somthing off for games played for Ruff and 20 something for Donnie.
-
I copyied the info from Hockeydb. Winning percentage = Games Won divided by Games Played. It is in the spreadsheet and can compare to Hockedb. Why is it so hard to think DG and Lindy have the a similar wining percentage? Dg's numberes will change alot because of the small sample size. As a wise person told me, perception and reality are two different things. That is why we have data.
-
Uh Yes! Count your hershey bars...lol Hasek makes any team a playoff team.
-
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we would all be president of the team and won 7 stanley cups...
-
Similar with the small sample size of games played for DG.
-
Hasek would make any coach look good and get you in the playoffs. When you look at the rosters when Ruff was in the playoffs, he didn't have any stinkin putty cats.
