After that first Bills game I wasnât concerned that it was a reflection of what the Bills were, but rather they lost a winnable game that may have playoff implications at seasonâs end. Iâm feeling a bit of the same now. If it takes the Sabres 8 or 10 games to get their defensive play in order there will likely be some points lost with playoff implications because they werenât ready out of the gate. Thus, I share @LGR4GMâs hope the Sabres have a VERY productive week of practice.

Correct and correct. But as an alternative I suspect there will be some 'gymnastics' with the practice squad rules tomorrow afternoon - especially because they are allowed to travel with the team for overseas games. Or they just waive Josh and hope he clears.

500 pages of Things that are AWESOME is awesome. Sure need it these days âŠ..

You touch on an interesting point - the role of the organization. In other words, if all 32 teams had the same prospect pool (hypothetically) would some have a better success rate, per Taroâs definition, than others? More importantly are the Sabres in a position as an organization to do better than the 50% figure?

We need to talk about Zach Benson making the team this year, 2023
JustOneParade replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Looking at this from the standpoint of the 9 game stint: Is there a tradeoff here? Is there enough value in Benson experiencing regular season action and seeing what it takes to be an effective NHL'er (and enhancing his development through self-evaluation)? Because you are totally right - this kid is too promising to risk doing damage by rushing him up. Its so unfortunate for him the AHL is not an option. -
I've had the opportunity to see some All-22 video analysis of the Bill's D (Cover-1 does a great job, btw). You see so much that's going on outside the view of the regular broadcast. What is striking is how complex the Bills D scheme is and more so just how much pre-snap communication is taking pace in the back seven. For that reason I have to believe the Bills will not bring anyone in from the outside without a great deal of familiarity with the calls. They'll pull guys up from the practice squad first. Anyone brought in from the outside will be for practice squad replacement with the hope they can get up to speed in 6 or 7 weeks if needed.

Had to be this one v. KC: 1/15, 4 yards, 0/1 TD/INT, passer rating Blutarski (0.0). Truly awful.
-
Had no recollection so I looked it up. Great call @Taro T. Holy sh*t that was awful. 11/32 for 86 yards, 0TD/4INT, passer rating of 3.6. If he wasn't negative that day then something's broken.

This game should be fun. The proverbial irresistible force vs. immoveable object matchup based on this past weekend. The Phins put up 70 and the Bills D dominated the WFT. In fact, since the advent of fantasy football (or at least since its been shoved in our faces with regularity) I have never seen a QB play an entire game and have ZERO fantasy points. Howell surely has PTSD after Sunday.

Interested to see if they take Elam out of mothballs for this one and try to scheme/minimize Hill with help. Heâs the only Bills DB with the speed and athleticism to hang with Tyreek Hill.

Was Levi on the good end of the shutout? Anyone with info on how he looked? -

What are the 2023/24 Sabres' internal expectations
JustOneParade replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Just watched DGâs presser from last night. He addressed expectations in his typical excellent communication style. He said (paraphrasing): âTwo years ago we werenât ready to win. Last year we thought we COULD win every night. This year, we feel we are good enough and EXPECT to win every nightâ. Pretty well sums up where his expectations are. -
I may be wrong about this .... but it appears Casey was arrested this summer and someone photoshopped his camp card into the mug shot in place of the usual one with all those numbers on it.
-
Not sure what you were expecting @PASabreFan. Since the Draft what has there been to talk about wrt the current roster? (If you exclude the daily updated Dahlin contract tread). It's largely set. The prospects have been the only ones on the ice. Camp starts today and the team has reported. As we work up to the season opener the prospect talk will morph into mostly an Amerks and 'Others' threads and focus will return to 'the present'. But you know all that.

A definite possibility if the Sabres retain 50% salary ..... đ

The knee-jerk, sky is falling crowd is a bit disappointing, but I get it. Most fan bases have a similar faction. On the other side of the coin though is living in MA and seeing/hearing these smug Pats fans in meltdown mode post-Brady. Simply fantastic! One of the reasons I hope the Bruins fall hard. What do they do then? Can't wait 'til that happens.
-
Its very appropriate I believe. Because if the Sabres intend to deploy a 'checking line' beyond this year, who in the current top tier of prospects can fit in that role? And if a checking line is in the plans, where are the openings that his top tier fits in? Hence, @bob_sauve28's comment above.
