  1. I think that's true. I also think he was always asked to do too much too soon and that's the same thing we've done with Dahlin and to some extent Joker. If you want to develop a complete D man you have to bring them along slowly and not ask them to do too much as they learn and grow. So part of the problem has been the team sucking. As we suck worse coaches have few options to go to but the rest of it is on the teaching and clearly defining their roles. It also doesn't help when we don't have proper pairings and keep moving people around. Lack of communication on D has been a huge problem for years.
  2. Don't forget Jokiharju's completely fallen apart too.
  3. Big load of crap. Gotta be better, take time to get it right blah blah blah translates as a big bag of nothing. There is no sense of direction, what the plan is, or what they actually intend to do. I doubt very much they even know.
  4. Krueger obviously had to go, but I am happier about Steve Smith gone. The way our promising young D men get worse not better has been a thorn in the side for quite a while. Everything else is speculation, but today is a start. But just a start.
  5. Totally lost respect for you and your opinions now.
  6. The entire team, top to bottom, is so amazingly bad I just don't see another path. I know starting over isn't appealing, but it might be the fastest path to possible success. There is such an incredible history of losing and losing culture on this team, psychologically damaged players I'd suggest, that it'd be better to let them all move on and start over. Vegas built a strong foundation from nothing and we could do better if we do it properly. Trade the core. Trade Reinhart, Eichel, Risto, maybe even Dahlin. Trade Hall, Staal, Montour and whoever else you can. This gives you a wealth of picks and prospects plus a few veterans we might have to take in return for cap reasons (pick the tougher harder working types if possible) Unlike Vegas we already have a prospect pool (albeit a relatively small one) . The goalies, Pekera, Samuelson, Johnson, etc. Plus the youngsters like Cozens. Hire Gallant. Fill the roster with mid level FAs . Again, hard workers and team players. In the end I think you end up with as much talent as Vegas had, probably a fair bit more and a solid prospect pool to build quickly from. It can work, and in the least, it can free us all from this cycle of abuse.
  7. The Buffalo Sabres. The cure for winless streaks league wide.
  8. I've wondered about this team's fitness level for a few years now. They never seem to be able to sustain effort for all 3 periods of any game. I've tended to attribute that to laziness and a simple lack of desire/effort, but maybe it's just lousy fitness for this level of athlete.
  9. They were overtly mocking us on Sportsnet tonight. Especially mocked those failed 3 on 1's. Deservedly, but still. They usually just ignore us so mockery is a new low.
  10. I think that's probably true. I think they believed, as we all hoped, that Hall would light it up, Skinner would get back to scoring at least 20, Staal would give us something (and some leadership), Dahlin would take a step forward not back and Ullmark would shine. Among other things.
  11. He might get fired (eventually) but nobody's getting hired until the season is over. I am almost sure of that. This franchise is merely fulfilling their obligation to the league this year and will keep their costs at the bare minimum.
  12. You can say poor Sam if you want to, but he wasn't exactly burning it up out there either.
  13. If this was a tank year I'd say they were intentionally trying to lose for the big pick. I mean who else but the Sabres can get 3 on 1's and come away with no shots on them. It's not just "weird" it's a disgrace. They should all be sued for breech of contract. idk what this is, but it's not professional hockey.
  14. Wilson's still suspended so we can get physical 🙂
  15. Well I'm old so it's hard to switch teams but maybe if they were moved to Quebec or wherever it would be a form of sweet release and I could get a new team with a clear conscience. I just don't know.
  16. Doesn't this all go back to Reinhart though? Or maybe even the Girgensens Gregorinko draft. All supposed to be centers, and then on top of that we trade away ROR and don't get a real center back in return. My fear is this team is just hoping Cozens is our 2C next year, Samuelson is our new stay at home D man and they'll rush the goalies too. I have no issues with Curtis Lazar, but he should be fighting for a roster spot rather then being our best center (with Eichel injured).
  17. So many options so hard to choose.............RK was too easy so I went with Skinner. Everything about him is just starting to bug me more and more.
  18. Watching that game though the Bruins didn't look much better than us. Rangers totally outplayed them. Bruins have been shut out by Rangers, Islanders, and NJ. They have serious offensive issues. They'll probably beat us 1-0 but they're not the big bad Bruins right now for sure.
  19. Damn I know you're trying to be a good fan and I guess that's admirable but I have to say I just do not care who comes back or who we lose in the expansion draft. It won't make a damn bit of difference if we don't make some major moves.
  20. Well firing him this soon isn't going to happen, we all know that but the points are valid. Eakin wasn't worth picking up for sure. Staal was also a bad trade. Guy is burnt. Johanson might not have been all that, but Staal did not address the 2C issue adequately. Thompson contract is wishin' and hopin' dumb. Sheahan isn't horrible, but I'm not sure Adams had a whole lot to do with that as Sheahan tried out looking for work. No trades yet, no coach firing no nothing. He's "evaluating".......................
  21. Ya, probably doesn't want to injury any neck muscles lifting.....................
  22. Thompson was there, but what I'm really noticing about him is he's big, but he isn't strong. he gets muscled off the puck easily and, dare I say it, seems afraid to go into tougher closer contact areas. He will never be anything playing this way. So, a Sabre.
  23. What an impressive display of physicality! 🙂 Ya know, this game was very reminiscent of post tank Bylsma hockey, which means we've basically not progressed at all from there just rearranged this or that and gone full circle. If I had something better to do in a non covid world I think I'd be doing it instead of watching this crap. Pittsburgh barely tried (likely already thinking ahead to their games with Boston) and we still lost, just a disgrace.
