  1. Ya, I don't need another reason to be optimistic about this guy. I'm confident he's future captain/leadership material and will have a solid NHL career. I just hope we can build a playoff team that will give him the chance to really shine in the post season. I am confident Cozens will be one of those guys that excels in big games.
  2. Finally somebody to fill the hole left by Vlad.
  3. That's pretty good. I imagine that's an exception, but then again they didn't win in the end.
  4. I don't know. I'm just wondering out of curiosity. Are there stats for that available somewhere?
  5. Whose the third? Cause neither of those two can play D.
  6. An interesting stat might be has a team that sucks at face offs, and I'm not talking about just losing them 49%-51% or something, but a team bad at faceoffs ever gone far in the playoffs?
  7. Not necessarily. Maybe he was just bored. or maybe Adams said "come to the game, I will show you the guys I've been talking about and you can see for yourself what I mean" and the gist of what that conversation could be about good or bad is myriad in possibility.
  8. Could be this season if we lose every Bruins game.
  9. You said the most, so to that I say $6 and if he wants a NMC it's $5. Anything over $6 is too much and I'd trade him.
  10. That's not necessarily wrong but you have to hope they can score as many or more to counter that. What's the alternative with Skinner? You can't wish him away. We're stuck with him, so you have to try to get something out of him. You want to just bury him on the fourth line like Kreuger did? imo Skinner's best chance to succeed with this roster is to pair him with Reinhart.
  11. Do you watch at all? Countless face expressions on the bench and in interviews after games. Not worth going over. If you think Eichel leads well and doesn't pout you're delusional.
  12. 1. Solid goaltending with big save potential. 2. Top ranked specialty teams. 3. A balanced roster that can adapt to different game plans faced. So speed and skill but also grit when needed. 4. Depth. Especially extra competent defensemen. 5. A team concept that everybody buys in to combined with a coach who can make quick adjustments, match ups etc. Sabres currently have none of these.
  13. Well part of the reason is because they gave Skinner way too much money. So if Sam wants a big time payday we're in trouble and won't be able to have the resources to build a team behind those 3. Rookie contracts won't last forever. The comparison is a bit of a straw man argument. They are not necessarily the same, but they might be. ROR lost his love and that was that. You lose the trade big time but you really have no choice and with an owner wanting to save his bonus cheque you really have no choice. With Jack there is a question mark. There's no question he's a frustrated hockey player but he also doesn't seem to have the character to take that on himself and lead out of it. Smashing sticks and pouting isn't leadership and it rubs off on others. IF, and it's a big IF but a real IF, IF he's not in the right frame of mind to commit to this team the team will be better off to move on from him. There's different mindsets. If his mind is okay I like the direction of this coach and the enthusiasm of these kids and I'm going to give it my all and rise this team up next year it could be good, BUT if his mindset is well oaky I'll start the season and see how it goes but this is your last chance or I'm out of here and if you rebuild at all I'm out of here and don't you dare trade my buddy Sam.............and that post game hot tub better be the temperature I like............. well okay maybe not that but I think you get my point. Bottom line is Adams/etc have to sit down with Jack, determine if he's genuinely into this team or not, fully committed to excellence here, and if not, it's really the right time to move on.
  14. How about Vancouver beating Toronto twice after coming off their covid hell? Laughs showing they are very very beatable.
  15. I would think all of this is for next year.
  16. I think that's too much but not a big deal either way.
  17. I could be wrong, but I think he lost every single draw. otherwise, this notion is a perfect example of how stats can tell you anything and also nothing. The overtime example is a good one. Face offs make a huge difference in the 3 on 3. It's all about which draws and when.
  18. Well this is a long discussion that will be batted around I imagine during the off season. There are numerous ways to look at it and arguments for all sides but if you want a big culture shift and you like the current developing chemistry, then this might be the moment to make a radical break with the past/status quo and move on. My only point is, that if that is the plan, it would make sense to move some people out before the draft if you want to retain some others. Honestly though, I don't think Seattle is going to be overly concerned with who they are getting from us so if they want to sway it to any specific person I don't think it would take much that way either. I doubt Seattle is salivating over Borgen, Bjork or whoever.
  19. and Caggiula was a waste of time and space. He looks like a non issue in terms of next year. Rubbish. Well you're not going to do much on a 5 on 3 staying on the perimeter and doing nothing down low no matter who is out there.
  20. That's not necessarily true. It all depends on how many and how good they might be.
  21. Not sure what you mean by "how". You get to keep Borgen if you open a roster spot.
  22. That final 2 minutes was a total embarrassment. Bruins owned the front of both nets all night. They were simply better than us at everything. Men against boys. It's annoying to watch Taylor Hall do good things. And it's even more annoying we tossed them Lazar for nothing. Best ultra cheap forward in the league. Well, at least Hall didn't score.
  23. This is what I've been saying. Reinhart has looked much better between Skinner and VO than he used to as a RW. I'm glad Granato recognizes this. Too many centers? Don't be silly. You can never have too many. Easy fix. One option, trade Eichel in the off season to stock the prospect/draft cupboard and don't disturb the current chemistry and get away from the is he a good captain thing. OR, Skinner-Reinhart-VO Asplund-Mitts-Thompson Ruotsaleinen-Eichel-Cozens Girgensens-Eakin/?-Bjork/Okposo/? Top 3 lines in no particular order. All 3 fast, all 3 have playmakers and scorers and guys to go to the net. All problems solved.
  24. Trade one or more of Eichel/Reinhart/Risto before the expansion draft and all problems solved.
  25. The west makes the most sense there although I am sure the league will want to build up the Vancouver Seattle rivalry so will likely want them in the same division once the border is open. I like us with Toronto and Detroit but Columbus? idk. Lose all that Boston hatred? Or Montreal ? Also can't see Philly and Pitt being separated. Most of the rest fits geographically though. After all this same team stuff I'd like a return to play different teams more for the variety but that's just me. I know the Canadian division has been really popular up here with most people. There's calls for that to be permanent. What might be interesting for the sake of parity is weighting the schedule like the NFL does where you have to play more games with top teams if you finished higher and the lower teams get matched up more. That might be interesting and lead to closer end of season standings/playoff races.
