That was a soft goal he should have stopped for sure, but you're forgetting he also made a killer stop on a sure goal in the third. I'm not defending Hutton, he's not a good goalie, but aside from a new Hasak who could steal us games we don't deserve to win it's not that easy a fix. If we were losing games 5-4, or 7-6 I might jump on that bandwagon, but come on, Philly shut us out TWICE. No goalie is going to help you with that. If you believe the effort level on this team is good enough to win, I think you need to stop drinking the kool aid and spend some time watching other teams to remember what it takes.

Watching the Bruins Caps game right now and it is the antithesis of Sabres hockey. Both teams checking incredibly well, playing hard. If this was an actual playoff game it's one of those ones you think could last 6 periods or more. We have zero chance of generating offense against either of these teams the way we play.

So let me get this straight. The logic is that if we somehow had a better goalie and a 2C (wasn't that supposed to be Staal?) then the rest of these lazy soft losers will suddenly rise to the occasion and play proper hockey and everything will be fine? Really? Or in other words all we need is a guy like Ryan O'Reilly and maybe a goalie like say Robin Lehner.......................................... Sorry, the argument doesn't hold up. It's not that simple.

I disagree with the rebuild idea. We have to have the time because this core is rotten and I'm tired, like many fans, of waiting for these guys to step up. Get rid of them before they ruin Cozens too. It will however, be a difficult year to assess talent properly and some gambling will occur. I'd trade for more top prospects than picks in the rebuild idea. You make a deal with Florida for example you get one of their goalie prospects, Byfield if LA, things like that. Players closer and more likely to be something. key factor would be trade for character guys like Cozens and not talented floaters.

I love this kid's game and wish there was a way he could be captain now. Anyone on this roster who doesn't rise up and try to match this kid's play should be shipped out of town..............so just about everybody. Some of you might remember I was saying my daughter was in high school one year with Cozens when he was at the hockey academy. I was joking with her last night that I wished she'd dated him so I could start making plans for my favourite son in law. She was not amused 🙂

I'm not disagreeing, but I think they are related a little. We're not lowest in penalty minutes because we're some great Lady Byng laden finesse team that plays clean disciplined hockey, we're lowest in penalty minutes because we simply DON'T DO ANYTHING. You don't get many penalty minutes when you don't go into the tough areas, you don't fight/push back, you don't give'er as they say on the prairies.

We get it, you don't like fighting. Pretty sure you're a minority view. As for it "going away" you've got to be joking. Tampa finally won last year because they beefed up with grit (even Bogo) and finally fought back. St. Louis Boston was a war. Even Toronto added grit this year. You're dreaming if you think it's going away any time soon, and I am glad for that. Sabres on the other hand are a soft joke. "lowest penalty minutes in the league" like it's a badge of honour lol.

Ya, that was the response but on the ice it shouldn't have been. The sad thing is the 20 year old has to lead the way. On most teams this guy would have been applauded, high fived and cheered by his team mates all standing and banging their sticks and then the energy would be up and the rest of them would come out flying. But not this lot. I think a few guys played a little harder for a few minutes, but not many. You don't overhaul this sad sack roster it won't be long before Cozens joins the F it why bother trying club. get rid of them all before we break this kid.

This team might start winning after all the "core" is gone and Dylan Cozens is our captain . We have 1 hockey player, but that's one more than last year. Montour is such a crap defenseman. That's all I got.

Well good for you. When it's out of hockey I will be out of hockey too.

Last game Ritchie sat on the Rangers goalie's head and Lemieux and him settled things up at the end of regulation. Didn't even wait for the next game payback. It would be refreshing to see a frustrated team take a few runs at people or just drop them out of anger and frustration. Take something out on somebody. Show a little passion, even if misdirected, but not this bunch. I have low expectations for this game.

Where does this idea that RK has so much power come from? Because he ran a soccer team? He's just a coach, and he's JBot's coach at that. He will be the guy they fire this year in a BS attempt to put all the blame on him and convince everyone that next year will be different. Same as every season. They will just wait for what they see as the right timing for the optics.

No they're not. They're just being realistic and want it for a start. Once they get it they want more naturally until the cup, but as a START competitive hockey would be nice.

Just as an aside, what happens to a player's NMC if an entire franchise moves?

I don't follow the Bills close enough to know, but somebody who does should start a thread contrasting and comparing the 2 organizations from their low points forward. The differences might provide some real answers.

But the question this brings up is does his fragile broken spirit break the team's? I was bemused over the current Buffalo News headline "searching for answers....". Correct me if I am wrong, but do we not see that headline EVERY SINGLE SEASON.

Love the passion, even if I don't fully agree with the assessment. The thing I keyed on was just give us some competitive hockey. Pegulas do not understand hockey but they think they do. "Bizarre" is one word for it all. I got choice other ones.

Just about every beer league guy I've ever played with who played goal somewhere at some time doesn't want to play goal in beer league. I get it, it's a lot of equipment and a lot less fun. I'd guess Moulson wants to coach one day. Good for him.

and Boston, Toronto, Florida and Tampa. Which 2 of those are we going to be better than to make the playoffs????
