  1. I would think all of this is for next year.
  2. I think that's too much but not a big deal either way.
  3. I could be wrong, but I think he lost every single draw. otherwise, this notion is a perfect example of how stats can tell you anything and also nothing. The overtime example is a good one. Face offs make a huge difference in the 3 on 3. It's all about which draws and when.
  4. Well this is a long discussion that will be batted around I imagine during the off season. There are numerous ways to look at it and arguments for all sides but if you want a big culture shift and you like the current developing chemistry, then this might be the moment to make a radical break with the past/status quo and move on. My only point is, that if that is the plan, it would make sense to move some people out before the draft if you want to retain some others. Honestly though, I don't think Seattle is going to be overly concerned with who they are getting from us so if they want to sway it to any specific person I don't think it would take much that way either. I doubt Seattle is salivating over Borgen, Bjork or whoever.
  5. and Caggiula was a waste of time and space. He looks like a non issue in terms of next year. Rubbish. Well you're not going to do much on a 5 on 3 staying on the perimeter and doing nothing down low no matter who is out there.
  6. That's not necessarily true. It all depends on how many and how good they might be.
  7. Not sure what you mean by "how". You get to keep Borgen if you open a roster spot.
  8. That final 2 minutes was a total embarrassment. Bruins owned the front of both nets all night. They were simply better than us at everything. Men against boys. It's annoying to watch Taylor Hall do good things. And it's even more annoying we tossed them Lazar for nothing. Best ultra cheap forward in the league. Well, at least Hall didn't score.
  9. This is what I've been saying. Reinhart has looked much better between Skinner and VO than he used to as a RW. I'm glad Granato recognizes this. Too many centers? Don't be silly. You can never have too many. Easy fix. One option, trade Eichel in the off season to stock the prospect/draft cupboard and don't disturb the current chemistry and get away from the is he a good captain thing. OR, Skinner-Reinhart-VO Asplund-Mitts-Thompson Ruotsaleinen-Eichel-Cozens Girgensens-Eakin/?-Bjork/Okposo/? Top 3 lines in no particular order. All 3 fast, all 3 have playmakers and scorers and guys to go to the net. All problems solved.
  10. Trade one or more of Eichel/Reinhart/Risto before the expansion draft and all problems solved.
  11. The west makes the most sense there although I am sure the league will want to build up the Vancouver Seattle rivalry so will likely want them in the same division once the border is open. I like us with Toronto and Detroit but Columbus? idk. Lose all that Boston hatred? Or Montreal ? Also can't see Philly and Pitt being separated. Most of the rest fits geographically though. After all this same team stuff I'd like a return to play different teams more for the variety but that's just me. I know the Canadian division has been really popular up here with most people. There's calls for that to be permanent. What might be interesting for the sake of parity is weighting the schedule like the NFL does where you have to play more games with top teams if you finished higher and the lower teams get matched up more. That might be interesting and lead to closer end of season standings/playoff races.
  12. and Miller likely won't be in more than 1 game. 2 max. His knee issues are an ongoing thing and they give him "maintenance" days often.
  13. Did you think that before the season started? I don't remember who said what, but I know a lot of people around here were predicting the Flyers to win the division. A lot of things have fallen apart for them this year, but the veterans certainly aren't performing as expected.
  14. He could, but if he's trying to build a team first attitude it might be best to just give the temporary letters to the most veteran players for now.
  15. and look at the state that team is in? any chance the Flyers (who have tons of talent) have a deep cultural problem with their roster?
  16. But is that what you're supposed to do? I don't think so.
  17. That's cool. Is this our first NHL star of the week this year? Maybe there was one earlier but I don't remember. It's nice to be an actual hockey team again. Now what's the plan for this week or are we just going to burn him out?
  18. well............your sister's out on a date and you just stay home and.........................
  19. More specifically you finish your checks on their D. You watch any good team take on the Bruins and the main thing they do is hit McAvoy and the other D men as often as they can. It's going to be tough. I watched them take on Washington and sad to say Hall has that second line going.
  20. Eichel's a crap captain. If he's on team I guess you can't take it away from him but we'd be better off with someone else . I don't know if I want to anoint Mitts with a leadership role just yet but maybe. I'd still prefer if we brought in a Nick Foligno type and gave him a letter. I think Cozens could be captain material, but it's a tough thing to hand out letters to young kids too soon. I'd let Kyle keep his letter (assuming he's back) and wait one more year.
  21. I think it shows what it's always shown. He's not a good team leader. No more no less. Same goes for Jack. Despite his crap face offs I think he's playing much better as a center. The mix on that line is good and Granato should be commended for finding it by design or accident.
  22. This would be dumb. Bruins see us doing that and the message will be obvious and it'll be open season on our entire team. Dalton can't take on a whole team. Better to try to draw penalties and beat them with speed. There's no question we need to be a tougher team for long term success, but calling up one goon ain't going to do that. He'd just take dumb penalties and get laughed at.
  23. Habs hoping for some sort of Corey Perry playoff magic but I doubt they get it.
  24. It's potentially a developing team but it still has a long way to go. Consider that Bjork, a guy who was critiqued in Boston for his defensive play and played his way out of the line up is one of our best defensive forwards. We have some solid potential now, and a better effort level, but a lot of things would have to go right for the playoffs to be a reality and a lot of the guys trending up would have to get even better.
  25. Hey, go look at what I said in the other thread (I forget which one, maybe forwards for 2021-22) where I said I think he should stay centering the line with Skinner and VO and not be considered as Jack's right wing. Didn't want to repeat myself, but what I said there is shown to be true in this game.
