  1. If you insist.
  2. That was always the problem here. Team rarely if ever demoted players for poor play. Only Skinner really got that treatment. Different story with Florida. They're not going to accept "he always starts slow" as if that's acceptable or normal.
  3. Of course I know. I just felt like calling him on it. The whole meme thing is pretty tired. (and yes, I realize that invites even more for those on the easy path)
  4. Going to respectfully disagree, but at least you didn't say The Mighty Ducks πŸ™‚ Les Boys isn't horrible either if you like the whole Quebec thing.
  5. Need to get a little bit of a grip here, teams currently sitting in playoff spots with us are Detroit, San Jose, Anaheim. New Jersey is undefeated. Surely you realize this is not how the season will end up.
  6. I enjoyed Goon, but it's no Slap Shot.
  7. lol, but ya, I was happy to see him go too.
  8. You can "wrong" all you like but my comment wasn't. I saw him and he didn't impress me. obviously didn't impress the Kraken either. Obviously not a significant sample size just saying the excitement over him being available might not be warranted.
  9. I saw a Kraken game with him in it. He didn't impress me. Eakin's only out for a few games I think so I would just dress Hayden on that line and move Girgs to center. Juggle lines a little during the games maybe to give more ice time to anyone having a good night but otherwise don't rock the boat until it starts leaking.
  10. I hope not. So sick of this.
  11. Oh come on, now I'm all happy with how things have gone so far but Adams hasn't "brought in' anybody. Bjork was a throw in for a deal because the Bruins couldn't fit him in under the cap (Lazar was cheaper). Bjork was benched in Beantown and Caggiula was a cast off. Old goalies nobody wanted? retread D men teams had given up on. You make it sound like they deeply analyzed these guys skill sets and designed around them and that's just nonsense. It's all about the kids. The system, it's not that different from what Housley proposed. I still think this is a tank team, and I still think that's the plan, but that includes a tear down and a culture shift and maybe they are getting that part right. In a typical Sabres way, maybe they can't even tank properly lol.
  12. He doesn't strike me as a very emotional guy. More of a thinker. Definitely not a Tortorella type, Maybe a Roger Neilson. Most likely a Craig Ramsey. What we have to wait for is to see how the team adapts to adversity. It's all fine when the opposition lets you play your scheme, but we will run up against teams that won't pretty soon and how he adjusts and adapts to that will tell us a lot more about how good a coach he might be.
  13. Wow, that is some lofty praise after a mere 3 games against crap opponents. The thing Granato has going for him here that his predecessors didn't is there are no "names" on this roster. Oh sure, maybe Dahlin and even Cozens are top tier prospects or young players but they haven't made a name for themselves yet. Nobody here is bigger than the coach. Nobody is super important. Skinner and his huge contract, will he buy in? I'm not so sure, time will tell. But overall, this is an egalitarian bunch and nobody is the big shot who can go their own way. There's a system, there's an identity. idk if Granato tailored this system to the talent and skills he had to work with or that was just his system for this nhl and he fit them into it (I think the former, but just guessing). We shall see how it holds up, how it responds to adversity, and if it'll work as games get tougher. I'm skeptical. (and just for the record, Lindy's undefeated so far this season too :0)
  14. Well you did say punch them in the face , like it's a thing the Sabres ever do (any more). The good news (?) is we get Ullmark now.
  15. Looks like they might be the actual team with the inside track for Wright.
  16. Seriously? You think adding one guy like Hayden will make the Bruins quake in their skates? Come on man, the little rat Marchand would be able to take Hayden on by himself. Adding one slightly tough guy isn't going to phase them at all, it just might make them mad and if they start hitting us, it'll be a team thing, and we'd need a half dozen Haydens to match up. Now maybe if we'd never traded that guy above.
  17. maybe, but I think they are going to play Ullmark for his first game of the year and if we don't know his weaknesses we are less than smart and deserve to lose. What I need to see is how we respond if another team plays us physical . Not sure the Bruins will do that, but they are capable as we all know if they so desire. Vancouver's D let us float around the front of the net and in the slot with very little opposition. It shouldn't be that easy for any team.
  18. lol, well the Sabres aren't that good, but there's no reason to dwell on reality, enjoy it while it lasts. At this point however, they are better than expected.
  19. Slow start but after that they were simply the better team on the ice. Was far from the most entertaining or exciting game I've seen this year and I'm sure you can argue the Canucks were bad, but there were some nice goals, some good team play, coordinated passing, and effort. Yes, it can all crash down when teams take notice or when we play the good ones, but this is better than expected regardless. Biggest surprising positives so far. Obviously Thompson at center, who saw that coming??? Also Hagg has been surprisingly decent. Philly gave up on him and tossed him into the deal and supposedly he was a bad unreliable D man but so far better than Montour or some of the other stiffs that have come through here recently. Stable and solid so far and a reasonable replacement for McCabe. See if it continues. One negative, I thought Miller was horrible tonight. A better team might have made us pay for some of his bad gaffs. Has to be better,
  20. No it was ambien and benzodiazepine that he named. uh -huh πŸ™‚ Flyers looked really good tonight. Kraken not so much.
  21. Well this is why I say draft a goalie every year somewhere in the draft (7th rounders can look promising later right?) . Goalies are weird, they have weird development curves, they take two steps forward and then 3 back and then who knows and often they aren't ready for years. UPL might still be okay, he might not, but hopefully this makes them realize these things take time and the idea of playing him this year and rushing him was dumb and dumber. Coach him properly, and bring him along slowly and I think he will be fine.
  22. I personally think there's more to it than that, but for me, the biggest mistake (which I've said many times before) was holding the captaincy for Jack and then naming him captain because he was the big shot draft pick and not for his leadership abilities. ROR came to a crap team and he wanted to be part of that "build" and he should have been named captain. You can see in hindsight, St. Louis came together under his leadership, he is a leader. I personally think (and I admit this is speculative) that ROR and Jack didn't see eye to eye. There was talk of locker room rifts back then, veterans vs. younger and so forth, some sort of disfunction. Eventually ROR decided he didn't want to play second fiddle to this guy. Murray also brought in the worst kind of veteran leadership imaginable. Drug addicts, alcoholics, rapey abusers, without arguing about the validity of the charges/rumours and the causes the group of people he brought in were not good role models for a young entitled dude whose first message to the Sabres was a drunken "I'm coming for you Buffalo" (yes, I remember) . Jack may not have followed in their footsteps, but the entitled good times foundation was laid and the team first, hockey first, comradery and so forth never became a part of subsequent locker rooms and Captain Stick Smasher never matured into any kind of leader at all. I'm just hoping KA can trade him before the rest of the league realizes this and his value plummets.
  23. One side note, JBot also talked about a need for a culture change, and he's in with the Kraken who seem to have that aspect right, so I do wonder if the Pegula's refused to accept the idea that problems stemmed from certain individuals and a lack of leadership and now they finally got it. Maybe it was Jack's attitude, maybe others, can't say anything for sure and it'll always be speculative, but time will kind of make things obvious I think.
