  1. I was looking over the standings today (which I rarely do) and I don't think we will be able to move much of anybody as there will be too many clear sellers at this deadline. Only the Pacific division has a bunch of close teams, the rest is going to pretty much decided between the ins and outs and that means everybody out selling. Don't see any of our lot being all that desirable in that scenario.
  2. I don't think there's any question we have good goalie prospects in the works, and he's one of them. I can fantasize about a day in the future where the discussions here are about what to do with TOO MUCH talent and not enough places to play them.
  3. Last pieces of the losing era. They're going to be gone after next year regardless so since we have zero chance this year get something for them while you can and move on. and I don't see them as big bodied etc. as you do.
  4. Well I hope you're wrong, because to me that's not progress. I'm not interested in tanking for a shot at Bedard. imo the only reason those guys are in the leadership role is due to a total lack of leadership left on the roster. You're not going to go far with guys on the last year of their contracts as your leaders. I believe the letters next year should be Tuch - C, Cozens - A, Dahlin-A. My preferred option would be to trade Girgs and Kyle now by eating salary on them. Get a little something for them maybe and move on from the loser era.
  5. I think Eakin will be deadline dealt and Jankowski will take his place, but really I don't think any of Girgs, Okposo, Eakin, Jankowski, Hayden (and probably not Murray or Bjork) matter much to KA. I think they are all gone this year or by the end of next, (as well as Hagg, Butcher, Miller and possibly Pysyk). the 4th line is just going to be a dumping ground for the misfit toys for the rest of this year.
  6. I think this nails it. The thinking (right or wrong) is they want that line to play very up tempo and very fast so Bjork over Okposo for skating speed and no other reason. He is a placeholder. Hinostroza might take that spot first, and next year maybe Quinn. Bjork is a temp, nothing more.
  7. Third party broker would be a good option. A bad contract or two (as long as they weren't long) to add some prospects also good. Trading for a good, but perhaps overpaid player. There are a multitude of possibilities. I think it will tell us a little about the time line though. If they do not use it, and/or do not add in free agency anything significant, then we pretty much know Terry has tightened the purse strings and this is a long term build. I would like to see some aggressive moves to fill the holes and speed this thing up myself. I don't want to wait 3-4 more years to compete. Levi and UPL might be our long term future, but we need a goalie now. Even somebody average, but consistent, for the next 2-3 years, but we need a goalie. (among other things) Creativity is needed. Speaking of Vancouver, Bruins seriously interested in Miller but have no space so maybe we take DeBrusk and somebody for cheap so they can do that. Not that I really want DeBrusk, but he might fit in with the style we are supposedly planning on and if the steal deal can be made for economic reasons, why not? I'm sure there are other similar possibilities among the contenders.
  8. If I were him, I'd be referencing this: and how nothing happened to Maroon, and talk about how the team can't afford any more goalie injuries so he felt he had to protect himself. It's not the same, I know, but I think it's relevant. What will work against him is he was out of the crease when he stuck the arm/shoulder out and the Ottawa guy is not a dirty player so he probably gets s suspension. Personally, I was fine with it.
  9. I think it's fine to have B, C, even D teams. Come playoff time I usually cheer for underdogs and similar to your Boston hate, anybody who plays against the Leafs. As long as the Leafs lose I'm fine with the eventual cup winner. Otherwise, to keep enjoying watching hockey in general, it depends on what style of play you like best. Nashville is living up to Smashville this year. Canes are fast high energy. Tampa is the star power team for sure. Depends what you like. Personally, for example, going to probably watch the Anaheim Toronto game tonight. Really like what Anaheim's doing with their rebuild. It's a bit frustrating to see how much faster and better their rebuild is than ours, but it's also a model for what we could be as well. and watch the Olympics of course.
  10. Brandon Carlo is the type. Don't think the Bruins want to move him but if they have cap issues for next year trying to sign Bergeron etc. maybe they'd move him for a youngster or pick(s) or let them unload another salary on us. But somebody like that.
  11. I was making a point about "talent" , not saying that is what we have. Jeez man, I thought that was obvious.
  12. Dahlin threw a really nice solid body check. He's starting to play more physical in general and might finally be on the verge of becoming what we hoped he'd become. That's all I got. Too much of the old problem of going it alone and not enough team play. Score flatters the Sens though. We were unlucky in the first with the whistle on Skinner and Thompson missing the open net. You get those goals might have been different. Mitts showed he might be part of this but he also looked really gassed and out of shape. His skating was labored at times. This is the sort of game that has me worried that the failure in goal leads to no chance games that'll just teach the kids it's okay to lose. I hope that's not going to happen, but Granato has to set a standard where this was not acceptable rather than being his usual nice guy teacher.
  13. I agree with you that left/right isn't everything, but ideally it is better so it is something to be addressed over time imo. I still don't know what you mean by "talent" though. What type of player(s) and skill sets do you want to add to what we have? I mean everyone would love complete D men good at everything, but you won't get that so in that respect what does "talent" mean?
  14. Fair enough. Hey, I live in BC, weather extremes have been crazy over the last year to say the least.
  15. okay but what do you consider "talent" in terms of defense? 6 offensively gifted fast skating little guys with big shots isn't going to cut it on D.
  16. You're kidding right?
  17. Not everyone. Some of the same people don't want Tuch killing penalties and don't want Cozens fighting so I'm not sure who they want doing it if you want to ditch those guys. idk about this Krebs/Mitts/Bjork line but wait and see I guess. Will be interesting to see what Mitts has to offer at this point and how he will fit in. I'm just going to wait and see. While I would be happy to upgrade Hayden for a better version, we need the grit on the roster somewhere. Somebody has to get back in Tkachuk's face when he starts his usual antics. The team, as a whole, is finally starting to play a little bigger, and I think Hayden being there has a little to do with that. A little.
  18. I'm talking about his entire tenure here. Why he was signed, what the expectation was for the money. It was a bad signing. I just think for culture shift it's time to remove every piece of the old era that you can. Unfortunately it's not possible to remove Skinner too, but everything else should go. Maybe even the uniforms.
  19. another idea. Mayfield from the Islanders.
  20. That could be right. It might have been simpler though, and somewhat influenced by the Bills. Terry might have wanted to sign the big name (Hall) despite KA (possibly) advising against it. When it didn't work, TP might have finally thrown up his hands and said okay, try it your way, I give up. See I think his mindset might finally have changed because of the Bills approach. TP was a big hockey fan, and I think had an idea in his mind of what he wanted, thought he knew best since he thought he understood hockey. For the Bills, he knew he had no idea about football so left that to the people he hired. The contrasting result has now changed his mind about hockey and we are now in a new era where he expects results but isn't interfering. That's my hope anyway.
  21. There should be 6 more names added, as they've announced a sort of alternate/taxi squad of 6 per team.
  22. I saw it as more of a hail mary. Skinner wasn't getting it done again so one last chance to give Eichel a big name scoring power forward type. But who knows, it was a horrible decision whatever it was, Speaking of Hall (sort of) Rask is really stinking it up in Boston since his return. He's been horrible, Dell like. Anaheim is legit. Doing a rebuild right.
  23. I get it. That line would presumably be fast and skilled and try to win in that way, but I just think they'd struggle against the tougher teams. Quinn is going to have problems period until he gets bigger.
  24. okay. As you said to me then, explain the roles as you see it, as it appears that you are not doing that.
  25. I have no problem with it and like it in fact. Boston doesn't take Marchand and Bergeron off the ice cause the PK is too dangerous do they? Tuch's good at it, use him on it, simple as that. Goes for every player. We don't need to take Tuch off things, we just need more players like Tuch, and we need the kind of team leadership a top player blocking shots shows. It's time this team developed a constant ethic of work hard and do whatever it takes to win.
