  1. and for you statisticians it's rarely about how many hits but more importantly about who you hit and when.
  2. I did notice he did not have a good game but wasn't going to take a shot at him (and his supporters) until the whole series went by. He could still rebound and he who laughs last and all that. But kind of funny Harrington is still carrying that grudge.
  3. Brink signed with Philly and played for them.
  4. I don't believe any coach could have changed him. Ego way too big. Also don't think any of these 3 would have gotten good enough with a different coach either. maybe E Rod, but idk, not really thrilled by what he does even with the Crosby influence. I can't think of any kids we gave up on that he could have fixed but it might have been interesting to see if he could have fixed Montour here. He's done alright in Florida. Wish we'd never dumped Lazar. He's a solid 4th liner and don't get me started on Marcus Foligno.
  5. maybe DeSmith isn't our answer in goal? Chucky playing that old time playoff hockey for Calgary. Wish we had one of them on our roster. Nashville ain't much without their goalie. But Florida, oh my.
  6. idk how many are old enough to remember this, but they started as a sort of prog rock band with a couple of ex members of Santana I think. I saw them at an outdoor Emerson Lake & Palmer show where they were the opening act and it started off fine, keyboard driven rock(ish) tunes I don't really remember and then they went "we want to introduce our new lead singer" and suddenly that audience went wtf is this? Who knew that new version would become mega stars.
  7. I already said I thought it might have been posted earlier but thank you kindly for doubling down on that, most useful. You are a major asset to this forum.
  8. Ya, I don't think anybody here is thinking "franchise goalie", but a solid reliable guy on a (maybe) 3 year deal to stabilize the position as the kids develop. I'd be fine with DeSmith.
  9. Nothing in there really surprised me. Glad to hear they do not plan to trade away those draft picks. No Murray style quick fixes. That's good. The idea that they will try to talk Anderson into coming back and going with a UPL/Anderson starting combo is however, troubling, and could easily lead to another season out of playoff contention. Building slow and steady with a young core is a good idea. Building too slowly can lead to another culture of accepting losing as the norm. It's time to win. GET A GOALIE!!!!!!!!
  10. I don't. I see him the other way around. He had a chance to be a leader. He was here first. He could have tried to lead Jack, but he let Jack lead him. He needed to be away from Jack to excel and so they hit the road at the same time. We are better off without them. Close the door. (I didn't take note of this at the time but it seems fitting now in hindsight, Sam had to peddle harder and Jack was happy to coast along for the ride. Fitting.)
  11. Ullmark's a great guy and apparently a great team mate. Other players really like him too. He's just an average goalie though. The big question was would he be one of those guys that elevates his play in the playoffs and the answer here was he wasn't. He was the same. Average.
  12. Still not much out there but I did stumble upon this little nugget. maybe it was posted earlier idk, but this Sharks graphic for the Knights is priceless and brilliant. https://vegashockeynow.com/2022/04/28/vhn-daily-wrap-eliminated-and-everybody-hates-the-golden-knights/ (Also note in the article Cody Eakin made the top 5 for best hair in the NHL. Congrats. )
  13. I personally don't want any of that any more. Time to turn the corner and stop future building and start winning now. I wouldn't be surprised if we stayed near cap floor but I'd rather overpay a goalie and a defenseman to get there rather than taking on some dead weight/contract for another extra draft pick or something.
  14. lol. That is absolutely nothing.
  15. Boring for YOU. Other people here were having a good time. You don't like it go to another thread and leave us to our fun. Go rate some small unknown Euro draft prospects or something.
  16. Boston can't score. Carolina will beat them easily, probably in 5. Carolina is good and shouldn't b overlooked either. Oilers be Oilers.
  17. The bolded are the key words. I advocated for this years ago. I think they really missed a chance to change things at the 50th anniversary. Like you, I hope they bring it back too.
  18. I don't disagree with this but the Sabres don't have a history of treating ex players and alumni all that well.
  19. I can see this possibility but I'm not sure that is what it was. I think Jack had too much power here and Adams and Granato came in to a different situation and so they could do things differently. Previously the coaches were guys who had to prove themselves and they had to please Jack. Remember Kreuger had to meet Jack and have dinner and get on his good side and all that before coaching (or whatever it is he did). Adams was hired by an owner fed up with Jack's demands. Adams was given the power to move on from him. Granato got a locker room with all the star players removed. Much easier situation for him to be the guy listened to. Regarding Bogo, it's likely pain meds for his hips messed him up. I can't fault the thought process in bringing him in. Didn't work out, and as a team we do seem to have failed on recognizing addiction issues and player problems. Perhaps they needed a sports psychologist on staff (or a better one if they have one) who could have helped Lehner and maybe Bogo and maybe things would have gone better. Kane? Well, I get the thought process there, and it was a gamble that failed miserably. Thought he'd learn and redeem himself but underestimated how deep things went and it was an obvious mistake. See though it sort of proves how everything was about Jack. Kane, Skinner, Hall, always just get a star winger for Jack, that's the answer. Jack, Jack Jack. So now we can move on and replace that with Sabres, Sabres, Sabres.
  20. banged up, long grind, millions of dollars to do it, but maybe add in national pride. Remember Ryan Smyth? Captain Canada? Always came out, banged up or not. That's character. Character guys is what I want on this team. I think playing in this tournament will be good for any and all of them, banged up or not.
  21. idk, I think if you grossly overpay anyone he becomes a mercenary. I just don't see it happening. Happy to eat my own words if it does, but I'm not giving it any thought as a possibility.
  22. Well that much money might get it done, but do we want to go full mercenary? idk. If his heart's not in it and he's just here for the cash might backfire. Don't see the Pegulas dumping a boatload on anyone.
