In a few other threads I was asked by some people what I meant by "team defense". Well, that was textbook. We didn't play a "clunker" as some think, they simply didn't let us do what we have been doing. Easy easy shutout for Ullmark. I think maybe 3 saves of any difficulty all night. As I suspected, we cannot (yet) play against good team defense. We have much to learn still . Whoever spots for Granato needs an eye exam. Those were bad challenges. Chicago plays a more open style so tomorrow's game should be better.

Funny. I get the hate. Obvious why Marchand is reviled. Don't forget to hate on Hall too, but give Lazar a pass. Sabres should not have ditched him in the deal. That is on them not him. But that haiku should have "chowder" in it somewhere..............

This is what I was thinking too. I'm sure he will want to be part of this as long as it stays on the course we're on now.

I barely watch football now too. Game just ain't what it used to be. But I will give you a tip on the only way to watch football now. Set it up to record and start watching the recording about 90 minutes after it starts. Fast forward all the commercials, intro, half time, video reviews, and other long breaks between plays and you will meet up to real time early in the 4th quarter so you won't get final score spoilers either. Saves a lot of time and makes the drawn out spectacle more watchable. The draft? Don't give a toss.

I'm not sure if the Bruins are playing their full team or resting people tonight, but if it's close to the main team it'll be a good test for the Sabres. We go good in the wide open games but the Bruins play the tightest D in the league. They'd be a solid cup contender if their offense wasn't so mediocre. It'll be interesting to see if we can deal with that or not. We get Ullmark tonight though if that makes anybody's day.

A Foligno vs. Foligno cup would be just fine by me. I'm really hoping it ends up Avs Preds first round. That'll be a fun series to watch.

Okay, I can see a little of that. Mario was bulkier and used his size a little more to drive past players or through them but I see the similarity.

I'm going to suggest Marco Kasper with that Vegas pick.

Eichel and Risto both made their teams worse and we got a plethora of goodies for them. Well done KA.

He has definitely, and maybe it was luck (due to a lack of centers at the time) but kudos to Granato or whoever for trying him at center. I never thought of a big man like him playing that way. He seemed to be not using his body properly by old hockey standards. Didn't hit people, didn't really drive the net or screen very well. Didn't tie up the D in front or out muscle them for rebounds. Wasn't physical. All the things you think of with a big man BUT maybe he's the new prototype for the current NHL. Changes in the game now allow for the things he can do in open ice and he has (it seems) mastered the current game. I am very hopeful this sticks and we see it next year again.

I would consider DeMelo, but I don't think Winnipeg would make that deal.

That's what I'm thinking. Creates depth and makes the 3rd pairing solid. There is no good pairing for Power in free agency this year so I think we go with Joker. You could sign Manson but he's not ideal either. Might be best just to keep Joker there. Could very well be, but don't they have a bunch of players to sign? Not sure they can offer him his worth so I'd make an offer and see what happens.

Exactly. he had way too much leverage if he wanted to hold out like Skinner. Not valuable enough to let that happen again. He's a good player, but I still see him as a complimentary player and we needed leaders with fresh attitudes. When Levi gets his first shut out everybody here will be happy.

He's not spectacular but he's reliable and substantially better than Pysyk. I'm not saying give him a huge long contract and he's not going to change the world or anything but he's a free agent and he'd improve our D depth. I'd make him a reasonable offer and see. He'd be an upgrade.
