You know, the idea would be we'd just be getting a younger guy of equivalent talent in return. Maybe one that isn't mentally always taking a backseat to his buddy.

They haven't been getting run over. They just aren't scoring. I know the record is bad, but I think people need to take a step back and realize how much better it has been looking lately. Last year the wins if we had them were mostly by luck. Now, the losses are mostly coming from bad luck. The play itself is in our favor. We just don't have the talent to finish consistently. Or the right line combos imho. -
The defense hasn't been exposed. The goals against were at fault of the centers, or from the terrible PK. Particularly from Jack. Hutton has been suspect as well. The defense has been generally good. Thing is, I wouldn't want to trade Scandella the way he has been playing lately. Ristolainen is the one who needs to go. Miller started strong, but has found his way rightfully to the bench. Either way, Ristolainen needs to go. And this team needs forwards.

Trade him!

He got tripped up right before it. Can’t blame the dude for the refs not calling obvious trips -

Rudolph sitting there trying to rip his helmet off first, he just returned the favor. Of course the QB gets off scoff-free. Where's Kaepernick to cry about racism when it's actually warranted?

Swap Eichel with Rodrigues and I like it a lot more.

Erod is a frustrating player to watch...

What a weird thing thing to complain about. Cap has been hell for years because of Murray, and Botterill is one year away from shedding everything except Okposo's contract and opening up more than enough room for those players. And neither is playing to a top dollar contract right now anyway. -

Rodrigues has been a little better lately. Vesey has laid an egg again. Girgensons has forgotten about offense entirely. Okposo is just a drag. This team lacks talent in a big way. -

Some overreactions here. They finally score 4 ES goals, what more do you want? The PK hemorrhaged and Hutton let in softies. I do agree Oloffson is overmatched on the top-line. Skinner really needs to be back with Jack. Reinhart should drop down to another line. Scandella is actually a calming presence. Jokiharju has been our best defender. -

Hutton laid an egg and our PK sucks. And our PP too. Nothing more to say other than I enjoyed them waking up in the 2nd period. -

Gardiner is so bad. Glad we didn’t sign him. -
You get no cap savings at all if you're exceeding the cap before LTIR, like we currently are, even if you aren't using all the LTIR. We will have 0 saved up at the deadline unless some big trade happens moving lots of money out. https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/sabres The projected LTIR must be negative for us to be gaining anything. We're 2 million over. Hunwick is never coming back, so that's ok. But the current 'cap space' is only 4.8 million, so they'll need to fine another 300k to reinstate Bogosian (covered by us sending someone down and then we will have 700k cap space remaining). Botterill is going to want to end the season under though, because there's 4 million in rookie bonuses on the line. Though, we can carry any rookie bonus overages forward to next year where we will be out of cap hell, and probably what he intends to do.
-
Bogosian will return. We have zero cap space.

EDM doesn't have the cap for this.

Teams having been clogging up the middle of the ice in the defensive zone more, but that doesn't mean the players should just give-up. And halfway through the game the defenders then relax, but the forwards are still in a perimeter mindset and don't take advantage of it. From my perspective, it's more on the Sabres and less on other team's adjustments. Lot's of bad habits through the tanks years to break. Krueger has a tough time ahead of them. The young captain fell on deaf teammate's ears last year. Will it come through now? I saw a completely different offensive game out of them in the second Lightning game, so I have hope still.
-
Despite the score, there was a huge improvement in their playstyle from the first Lightning game to the second game last weekend. They reverted to perimeter play, then remembered to bring plays to the net. Problem was their playstyle for the first day after having so much time to practice. Powerplay fell apart and so did our scoring. GLO line stopped being dangerous. Line tweaks seem to help, but I think it's obvious we lack talent on forward. Some of our defenseman are also too weak to play the man. Hope we see some more line-tweaking going forward. Skinner really should be with Eichel. Reinhart and Eichel need to be separated. Oloffson may be a PP specialist, but only deserves 3rd line minutes outside of that. I like Mittelstadt on 2LW.

Why are there so few Ukrainian hockey players?

Cherry has promoted the troops during intermissions for 40 years. Coach's corner has been a space for propaganda for decades.

Ultimately, inviting foreign armies into the nation who just turned around later and sacked the city when corruption ran rampant and unsustainable food programs had a hiccup has parallels that go above and beyond your understanding. Trudeau did a great job promoting every cabinet member based upon skin color. Following Obama's footsteps in that regard. I'm sure sportsnet will do the same. Sure, Cherry could use some humility. Many service members never once ask for recognition. But he's an 85yo man that's walked the walk in life, he's the one person qualified to ramble. Embarrassing that young folks take their service for granted like that. And yes, I love Carlin. And it's hilarious that you bring him up on this topic--- Trump literally broke Carlin. The American non-PC Cherry. He was the hero Carlin pined for for decades, yet everything he ever read made him want to despise the man. Except still, Trump was everything Carlin ever asked for. His Common Sense podcast faded out as his cognitive dissonance gave him pain, and his Trump Derangement Symptom listeners rabidly attacked him for even merely mentioning the idea that an outsider may be better than another corrupt retread and he wanted to calm down the divisiveness. Sad, because he was a voice of reason that could've helped bridge the divide. At least it shifted his gears enough to pump out the Addendum series.
