Wow, the leafs are in serious discussion for Babcock? Will that team ever learn they need a rebuild??? Holy Christ you can only wallow in mediocrity for so long before you realize you need to take a step back to go forward. This is like back in the day when they would trade draft picks for aging vetrans to continuously make a run for 8th.

Pegula wanted McDavid. Murray wanted McDavid. Nolan wanted to win as many games as possible. It was an obvious tank job by the Sabres (thank God it was a successful one) and hence there was a ton of conflict in regards to keeping guys like Pysyk and McCabe down in Roch. But the Sabres brought in Nolan last season to appease the fanbase about these losing seasons. Couple that with PL just quitting on the franchise and there's no way Nolan could be fired in season. Hence everyone just let the toxic environment play out. Especially since Nolan is a poor x and o guy and could help the tank.

But there is still the big point that salaries =/= quality of player. Circumstances play a huge roll.

Man, just present what your going to present and see if it sways anybody. This is like the lead up to Babcock signing.

But it all ties back to the contract. Myself, and some others, are saying ROR is worth 7.5 to 8 million which is pay for a very good player but not the most elite in the NHL. I feel this is the range of a guy that would get around $6 million three years ago. Therefore, he is being paid like a top 90 forward should be, not top 30. If you recognize that then you may agree that we are not 'having it both ways' by saying ROR should be paid elite money but then should not be traded for elite prospects. I'm saying $8 mil is not elite money in today's cap world and therefore he won't be traded for an elite haul.
