Is it too soon to think we might actually be good?
klos1963 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
yes, but we could be competitive and fun to watch, with progress made towards the future. -
Will Jack Eichel Ever Play For The Sabres Again?
klos1963 replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
Do you mean off the ice? I might agree with that, definitely not on the ice. I think if there were any chance of him returning, we would probably know , somehow , that it was an option. I don't see any sign of that. -
I remember as a little kid watching the Munich olympics and hearing the terrorists referred to as guerillas and being really confused.
-
No, they're actually in position.
-
Jack has his surgery, ready for the olympics, sabres are near the top of the standings and we add a healthy Eichel for the stretch run.
-
It still amazes me how bad RK was. Granato looks great by comparison, but I think he's really good even without being compared to RK. You get a feeling about someone and he seems to have 'it'.
-
who saw that coming?

I don't think AZ has denied the tank yet. It would be laughable. I really thought Hutton would be forced to retire after last season, he hasn't been a quality NHL goalie for 2 seasons and the only reason he has a job was his contract.

GDT: The Wiley Coyotes 1pm Puck Drop. Harvest Festival.
klos1963 replied to steveoath's topic in The Aud Club
I didn't state that half of the fans lived across town, but quite a few do and and it's a pain in the butt drive during the work time commute. When they built the arena in Glendale that part of Phoenix was growing fast, but recession hit and things changed. It's not the higher income area it was expected to be, but it still could have succeeded, the arena area is a great place to hang out before and after events. They just needed to get about 3000 more fans per game. Unstable ownership had a lot to do with how things are now. -

It's not half the fanbase. We have about 85% capacity. How many fans would drive from Rochester to Buffalo for a hockey game during the week? That's basically driving to the 'other side' of Phoenix. Counting an awful lot on a different country to support the team. 8-10K isn't anything to be happy with either. Remember the self proclaimed 'greatest fans in the world'. I don't blame the fans for not showing up, but no matter what excuses you have, it's pathetic. -

Still can't get over how bad of a coach RK was. -

That's unbelievably awful. All these years living here in AZ and had to listen to fans around the country saying the Yotes need to move because they only averaged about 14k a game. -
Watching this team reminds me of Las Vegas their first year
klos1963 replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
Vegas was a very talented team. That's why they won a lot. It's good start , obviously, but we took a team that's tanking to a shootout. Let's wait and see, but a good start. -

Huh? Have you watched other teams in the league play, they're actually quite good and pretty all of them work hard. With most organizations, hard work is a given, not a op-ed proclamation in the local newspaper. -
There's some hope. Jury still out. I think Granato might be a very good coach and can have some of these draft picks realize their potential.
-
It's really not at all. Poor coaching, poor GM's, poor goaltending, bad drafting, bad trades... , our players that performed well were not the problem, the ones that didn't play well were.
-
I wonder if other teams have to tell their fans to expect them to work hard. You'd think that would be a given.

GDT:The Season Opener! Montreal at Buffalo 10/14/21 7pm MSG, WGR550

Probably having a good coach. I think a healthy Eichel would flourish under Granato. -

Are we any hungrier than other teams that actually have goaltending? -
Do You Think The Sabres Top Brass Sees This As A “Tank” Season?
klos1963 replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
How do you tank without tanking? Get a bunch of good ,young prospects and don't give them any goaltending. -

Zibanejad needs a new contract, can't imagine they can take on that new deal and Eichel. One or the other. -

I understand your point, but it just doesn't seem practical to me. Are teams really just 'kicking the tires' on Jack just to see medical records? We all know he has a disc issue, the medical records are for more indepth understanding of the problem and to help make a decision on surgery options and prognosis. This isn't a spy game, it's acknowledged that he needs surgery, teams need to see those records. To expect to get an offer for what KA has been rumored to ask for, the team needs to know what they are getting in return. -

We're talking about Jack , sorry if you are too confused to understand. If Jack wants out so bad, it makes no sense that he wouldn't allow his medical records available. You really don't understand what teams would need to see, they should just take what the read in the press and react to that? It's impossible to take you seriously when you call Jack, John, but then to think that a team could just rely on public comments to understand exactly what is medically wrong and what may need to be done surgically and the long term prognosis makes me think that you don't expect to be taken seriously. -

I'll never understand how he thought a deal could get done without releasing medical records. -

The NMC means nothing. Eichel wants out badly, he's been quoted as saying 'he'll go anywhere to facilitate a trade'. There's no place worse than Buffalo right now. Wonder what those team doctors are seeing that ours aren't?
