  1. Skinner says $9 million a year.
  2. But what would you expect? The PC with the bad news wasn't as positive as the PC with the good news. That shouldn't be a shock.
  3. It's not like Rochester is packing them in either. It's minor league, and I still believe the Tucson fans will be sad to see them go, wtf wouldn't they.
  4. Tucson fans won't be happy losing their team. This ownership group is making a lot of enemies.
  5. The team also spent a lot of money on youth hockey. They provided free equipment for mites just starting out. Youth hockey is pretty big here, hate to see it suffer. My kids played 7 years, it was a great program.
  6. Wonder if they bought the domain names yet?
  7. Would be weird having the new SLC team's top prospects playing in Phoenix. We've been stockpiling draft picks and to watch them develop and never play for Phoenix would be strange.
  8. It was poor ownership(s) and poor arena planning. It's not on the city or fans. The final year in Glendale, the Coyotes outdrew both Buffalo and Ottawa. Hockey has been here for decades, it would have done well with an arena in the right city. Just because 30k people voted in Tempe and the majority of those votes were against, doesn't really reflect the potential support from almost 6 million in the area. Just been a mess from the top throughout.
  9. I know a few people that went. A lot of really bummed out people. The ticket prices were outrageous, I heard $1000 and up. There's enough fans here to support a team, but crappy owner after crappy owner doomed the franchise. Reminds me of the Braves, crappy owner, bad arena situation, and the fans have up. The big difference is that the Braves tore apart a great team while the Yotes have a good foundation, a strong prospect pool and a boatload of high picks the next few drafts. I only went to a game or two a year, but it was a great time. I'm very bummed.
  10. The big mistake of the nhl appears to me that they did a terrible job vetting new owners, each one was as bad as the prior one.
  11. They'll wear white shirts with black ties.
  12. Will the players need to wear the magic underwear?
  13. Hard to say, the league obviously really wanted the team here and it sounds like this plan had been discussed for a while now, as the team worked towards a new arena. Lack of information from the league and ownership has been really aggravating.
  14. My guess is that there was a good chance the project would take longer than the 3 year plan. A lot of work needs to be done to prep the land. There's nothing there, fair amount of infrastructure before any building happens.
  15. Who thinks players would pick Buffalo over SLC? The players have been dealing with fans not showing up for a while now, can't imagine they want more of that.
  16. Being a Sabres fan in Phoenix, I've felt that the Coyotes were probably 2 years behind the Sabres in development, as the Sabres fell back this season, it's pretty even now. If the Yotes high picks make quick progress, they'll be a top team very soon.
  17. So the team will play in a basketball arena that was only able to seat 10k for the frozen 4 because the arena isn't suitable for hockey, and wait a few years till the new arena is built...sounds awfully familiar.
  18. Yep, although I'm sure the players love living in Phoenix, I'm not sure I understand the talk of player reluctance to SLC, aside from the frowning on drinking 🤪, I've heard it's very nice there.
  19. Armstrong has been stockpiling high draft picks the last few years, they're loaded with prospects along with some good young talent on the big club. I would think he would keep things as they are. The team is setting themselves up for a bright future. Sucks for us that have been waiting for the players to get a little more experience.
  20. I can't see them trading Crouse. There's a good reason why many teams would like to have him, he's a very effective player. Big, tough and has found a scoring touch.
  21. He had some moments and you could see the big skill level. The year in the NHL probably was a positive for him over a year in juniors, but I have to think that an established player would have helped the team more. Benson had 3 or 4 stretches of no points over 10+ games in a row, a few goals mixed in there could have got us a few more points in the standings.
  22. OK. Sorry for that. It's frustrating to follow 2 teams that always disappoint. I'm a bit upset at how this has come about. The owners come out and insist , we will win the auction for the land, and now crickets for the last couple days.
