  1. I really don’t think anyone else is deserving.
  2. You think they are so physical that they intimidate the other team? You think that they use their physicality to respond when liberties are taken? You think that their presence on the roster protects their teammates, as a policeman may? Can you give an example or two of times they have done things like this? I just don’t really every see it. Especially Risto. Im not trying to be a jerk, it’s just that I see people say stuff like this sometimes, but what I see on the ice just does not support it.
  3. I don’t think Risto or McCabe have shown themselves to be policemen in any way. They don’t behave as such and they are not regarded as such by the opposition. They will give guys a little shove after the whistle and McCabe delivers 5 really big hits per season. That’s about it.
  4. How are they a deterrent if they don’t deter? Honest question.
  5. I think that your opinion of what is entertaining/boring hockey is in the minority, probably even in Buffalo, though I’m not there, so I can’t be sure.
  6. His assist vs Toronto was an actual nice play. Not that I think he is “the answer” but if it gives Buffalo 3 lines that are real offensive threats, then it is working. So far, in a small (4 game?) sample size, it has.
  7. Personally, I think this is bonkers. Exploiting the office of POTUS in order to attempt to perpetuate your own hold on power, as opposed to acting in the interests of your country is a very big deal. It should be completely unacceptable, but who knows, maybe I’m out to lunch on what public at large is accepting of.
  8. How does NHL define giveaway/takeaway? Im not even sure, but I don’t think a poor pass right to the opposition, for example, would be considered a giveaway.
  9. Not lecturing you, but just want to say, it’s not always clear when someone is severely depressed. People show it in different ways and sometimes don’t show it at all. People end their own lives and even those closest to them sometimes have no idea that things were so bad for them.
  10. It’s the guys who played Juniors in Halifax
  11. They have been playing together for a few games. Skinner actually scored a goal off of a nice feed from Larsson just a couple games ago, on Friday I believe.
  12. There actually are ways to measure “eliteness”, but different people have different measurements. This is a thread where people can discuss Eichel and where he stands among the league’s best. Would you just feel better if it was named “Eichel-How good is he?” Or something like that? Just let it be. If you don’t want to discuss Eichel’s level of play, then don’t.
  13. He shouldnt have done the interview if he didn’t want to have in in depth public discussion about his mental health? How bout we just let him live his life and make his own decisions instead? I don’t know if Berglund has ever been diagnosed with a mental health issue, but he kind of got screwed over by his agent and GM. It was something that wasn’t supposed to happen. He had taken precautions to have control over where he would be. I wouldn’t be surprised if privately Botterill feels horrible about putting Berglund in a position where he was so terribly unhappy.
  14. I’m going with 6-6-2 for 14 points. There will be ups and downs, but they will mostly be treading water. Who knows with this team though. Things could swing pretty wildly in either direction. Hoping Ralph can keep them semi steady.
  15. Yeah, last season, no team in the league had more than 4 60+ point forwards. I really just think this team needs 2 more Johansson/Olofsson level forwards and they would be in great shape. Imagine...... Skinner-Eichel-Olofsson Olofsson-Johansson-Reinhart Mittelstadt-Johansson-Vesey Girgenson-Larsson-Asplund/Ok/ERod That would be a really nice group. The Sabres don’t need to add a 40 goal or 80 point guy, just a couple decent 2nd liners and the forwards would be in great shape.
  16. I think I would say Jokiharju, which is incredible considering his age and the other pretty good D on the roster. What a great trade. One related note: Since Bogo’s return, he has played more mins than Risto in 3/5 games and they seem to be spreading the D TOI around more evenly. I think that’s a positive development.
  17. Johansson and Olofsson has a very nice offensive zone sequence there that created 2 great shooting opportunities for Olofsson. Anderson did well to save the game for them there.
  18. It tipped off of Hutton’s glove. He probably should have had that one.
  19. I think as a rental he could still get a 1st (probably lottery protected at least) + a B prospect (Borgen, Pekar) Something like that. That’s a pretty good return. Just as a comparison, I would think he would get a little better return that what Kane got.
  20. But the list didn’t exist, not official anyway. If it did, he wouldn’t have been traded to Buffalo in the first place. I’m not understanding the importance of the distinction here.
  21. I think that the only way that they get a package like that is if there is an extension already agreed upon.
  22. This seems to be revisionist history. I don’t think the GM has such fine control over the results that they can control exactly how close to the next team they finish.
