RNH has said glowing things about Krueger, so maybe there is something there, and I think he would be a nice fit. Unfortunately, he isn’t actually a UFA until after the 2020-21 season.
-
It obviously means something. It just doesn’t mean everything.

I didn’t say Holtby was old. I only said he hasn’t been particularly good in years . He hasn’t put together a notable season since 2016-17. He has been very average/meh since then. What was I off about? I didn’t say that Buffalo should not inquire about Lehner. I only said that I doubt very much he would want to come back. I feel like you are kind of putting words in my mouth here.
-
Yeah, Holtby was good in the 2017-18 playoffs, but that doesn’t mean much for 2020 and beyond. I could find a 25 game stretch where Hutton, just for example, was great too. I think Lehner wouldn’t be a bad signing, in a vacuum. I just really doubt he would be interested, in reality.
-
I don’t think I’d like to give Holtby even that much. He is in the midst of his 3rd consecutive very meh/average/mediocre season. I’m pretty confident that Washington is just going to let him walk before giving him something close to what you propose. For Lehner, why go back to the city where you have so many awful memories? Where you hit rock bottom and felt the worst you ever did in your life. If I was him, I would want to move forward with life, without those memories around every corner.
-
Lehner is not coming back to Buffalo. I would be flabbergasted. He is moving forward with his life. I doubt he goes back to a place where he was at such a terrible place in his life. Holtby’s performance has been in decline for a couple seasons. I think it’s very unlikely that he comes close to being worth his next contract.
-
I hear you. I don’t watch him too often, so I really can’t vouch for him.
-
He is an extremely skilled/talented player. I’m not going to try to sell him though because I actually think there are some character/off ice concerns there. But if the cost is Scandella or Bogo, I’m in I guess.

Is a JAG anyone who isn’t a star player? Thats the only way I can wrap my head around a player who consistently scores at 20+ goal/season pace being a JAG.
-
He is definitely a more accomplished goal scorer and better PP player than Vesey. Just glancing at what the two have done over their careers shows this pretty clearly.

Just 2 weeks today. Not long at all. Players are sometimes out months with concussions.

Guhle + for Montour, Nylander for Jokiharju. I agree that D is a logjam that needs to be thinned, everyone does. But he has made trades.

Goaltending should be the first fix, but won’t be.

Zamboni is proposing trading defensive depth for improved forwards. Is that a non productive idea that has no hope of helping the team? -
What is your immediate action plan assuming NO trade?

“......he said as he adjusted his tin foil hat.” ? -
3rd line player perhaps, but also a #1 PP player.

The NHL basically did this for Pegula during the previous GM search. Giving them a list of the top GM candidates to interview. -
This could make sense as a move to address the failing PP. Galchenyuk has a long history as an effective PP player. At 5 on 5, he is not so hot.
-
He is gun shy to do what? Make a trade? He has made many since the ROR deal. Why do people keep saying this?
-
1) everything in the future remains to be seen. We were talking about right now. 2) good point
-
Why should we care about that? You would be more pleased if they were spending less? I could see if they were in long term cap trouble, but that’s not the case.

Can you elaborate on this? I’ve no doubt that it happens but I’m wondering what you have in mind specially. -

Smith runs the PK. Does he run the PP? I thought Granato did? Maybe Taylor was when he was here? -

Actually, the opposite is true, sort of. Avs traded him then had a worse season, Sabres traded him then had a better season. Of course there are too many other factors that go into a season. -
What do you need to see before you're totally bought in?
Curt replied to StuckinFL's topic in The Aud Club
That would work really well too, if you eliminate OT entirely.
