WE just did that. In honor of the first truly nice weekend on Sunday I made Mrs. Racers favorite meal. BC chicken on a charcoal grill with roasted vegetables.

I hope when you read this you are happy and in your home with a new roof. I also hope that when you opened the door after the dry wall project was completed it didn't look like a roaming band of teen agers had a flour fight in your absence. Часть и добрая воля к Вам и ваши

But this is the same kid that had to be talked off the ledge when he didn't want to go back to the Junior team. There is no doubt a qualifying offer will be made by GMTM, but the unknown to me is will he accept. Does he or his agent feel Buffalo is the place to be for him? I read quotes where he wants to remain in the NHL, as late as mid April, but I don't remember him saying "and wants to remain a Sabre".

So the Sabres are without a doubt singing him? NHL[edit] A player who is no longer considered to be entry-level, but does not qualify as an unrestricted free agent, becomes a restricted free agent when his contract expires. A player may only declare himself to be an unrestricted free agent if he is over the age of 27 or has played in the league for a minimum of 7 years. Qualifying offers[edit] The current team must extend a "qualifying offer" to a restricted free agent to retain negotiating rights to that player. Qualifying offers are for one year contracts. The minimum salary for the qualifying offer depends on the player's prior year salary. Players who earned less than $660,000 in the previous season must be offered 110 percent of last season's salary. Players making up to $1 million must be offered 105 percent. Players making over $1 million must be offered 100 percent. If the qualifying offer is not made, the player becomes an unrestricted free agent. If the player rejects a qualifying offer, he remains a restricted free agent. If the player does not sign before December 1st, he is ineligible to play in the NHL for the remainder of the season.Possible outcomes[edit] If a player accepts a qualifying offer, he then signs a one year contract with his current team under the terms of the offer. If the player rejects the qualifying offer, or has not yet accepted it he is able to negotiate offer sheets with other teams. Qualifying offers are required for a team to retain a player's rights, but in most cases the player and team will agree to a contract differing from the qualifying offer. Should the player sign an offer sheet with another team, his current team is notified and can no longer negotiate a new contract or trade the player rights to another team. The current team has 7 days to make a decision whether to match the offer sheet, or decline and receive draft pick compensation from the team making the offer sheet. Accept The player remains with his current team on a contract identical to that of the offer sheet. With the exception that the current team does not have to match any clauses restricting their ability to trade or re-assign the player like a "no trade clause". The team is not allowed to trade the player for one year. Decline The player becomes a member of the team with whom he signed the offer sheet under all the terms of said offer sheet. His now former team claims draft picks from the player’s new team as compensation. Compensatory draft picks are determined by the player’s new salary on a sliding scale. ************************************

Not sign him. He's an RFA. There was talk of going back to Russia (KHL), but he has said he wants to be in NHL. Is this where the Bridge(?) contract is applied ?. Not the contract specialist... but know something has to be done to bring him back.

I think Z and D have more questions than answers right now. I also believe that they are at best 2nd and 3rd line players on a very good team respectively. I can see them as great friends and pushing each other as peers, but I don't see Z and D as mentors starting the 15-16 season. Not saying they will never become, I believe they have the attributes for that role in the future. We may only be disagreeing on timing, they are all so young, barely of college graduate age and we are asking them to be mentors. I just don't think they are ready and you do.

15-16 won't be a tank year ( I hope we all agree on that!) but we are at the bottom and need to see what we have. They just fired a coach that seemed from GMTM comments didn't do so well at setting up young talent to succeed. I think they sign him to a deal, short and sweet, see what a really good coach can get out of him before making any decisions. He is bigger and skilled and only 21, worth another year or two to see if he pans out. We're not going to the playoffs in 16, so why waste a chance when there is cap room for him.

I'll use this example. Zemgus and Delauriers are college sophomores entering their junior year. College administers are looking at how they should house their students, and who should be together. Zemgus missed the first month of his freshman year due to administrative errors and the last month or so of his sophomore year because of illness. Delauriers is taking a total of nine credits a semester. The next Hans Bethe is starting this semester, would those two be the best room mates to help acclimate him into college life to help him achieve his doctorate in nuclear fusion ?

After the Derby, we all sat around and watched Erie Otters vs. Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on the NHL Network. Kind of partial to the Otters for obvious reasons , and thought it was a great game.

Time to make like cave man.... I will light fire in fire ring of cooking, real fire with wood that I gather. Cook piece of meat. Hold cooked meat with one hand, hold drink in other. Bite, chew, drink, repeat.

OK then. Let me start of buy saying I agreed with you that Jack or Sam may be better of served by growing in Rochester or in college. I would not be upset if neither where playing in Buffalo, or where sent down. I also would love to seem them both up in the big club, but their surrounding team mates must be supportive of the growing pains. I not sold that Kane is a good supporting team mate, to young, to *me first* type of attitude. Gionta is obviously here for that role. Moulson..yes, he's been there done that in NY. Ennis is finally coming into his own, he may feel more help back, the big brother- little brother syndrome. Marcus, he is a wild card, I can see him thriving in the big brother role. As long as he doesn't let another one of his* set up a Sabre for an open ice crushing check* pass go. Girgesons and Delauriers are just 1 full year into the league. A lot to ask of young players to be mentors, especially when Girgesons couldn't even make the full 82 games. Weber, Bogo, and Gorges all great for their development in my opinion. Hodgson....mmmm..could he be the sleeper. Great off season work out schedule. Old, but not crusty old. He could be the fuel that fires up a chemistry that we didn't know could happen. Again, and I may be the only one, that would not go all bat poop crazy if after a few games the youngins are riding the bus. I waited 2 years to get my marshmallows, I might just toast them to get even more enjoyment.

I look to Edmonton as a * what not to do*, throw a bunch of #1 overall draft picks to the wolves nightly and hope they develop. It's seems evident that a competent core of veterans to help acclimate a very young player with no pro hockey experience is a must. Maybe we are asking the wrong question of weather Jack or Sam is able to do it on their own, but rather, is the veteran core the Sabres have capable of bringing along 2 very young players ?

Wait a second here Mr. Menace! What the heck happened to the cold rain I sent? Well if you didn't get it, and it's nice, for your punishment day drinking needs to commence a day earlier than previously scheduled!

We do it that way because between us we order as many proteins as we can. The *wet* sauce can give different meats/seafood a negative taste. A sauce that is bad with chicken, might be great with the brisket. I might order the rib, brisket, chicken sampler and Mrs. Racer will order the pulled pork sandwich with a side of shrimp. Ask for a bunch of those little cups of their sauces (we're usually on the go) and have at it.

The risk is purely on the STH. This year was very bad year for reselling. You could get tickets for games at less than 50% of the STH cost. I agree total with Tom, to each their own and for their own reasons. If Tom gave up smoking and bought season tickets with the money saved and as a reward for quitting, the price he paid was of little concern.

Does the metro area include Southern Ontario in the Sabres' case?

I vote this to be the winner of naming the horse thread.

Mrs. Racer has a very emotional strategy to pick horses that includes, "oh yeah, that jockey is cute I like him" and "the trainer was in an interview and seems like a really nice guy that wouldn't hurt the horses". Mrs. Racer has faired far better the last 16 years with her rational of which horse should win. I will be going to the OTB Saturday AM to get our bet slips. I will post her picks, as she is at the total opposite end of the spectrum for horse betting rational, just for a different perspective.
