And Today's version of Gilbert shall be called Jack.
-
It's June 2nd and I should turn the heat on. But I just can't bring my self to do it.
-
:worthy: Cold Turkey... that takes resolve! I'm not sure when it happened but the smell of the stuff will turn your stomach at some point. If offered some it just makes me ill to think of doing it. Good Luck and hope you can keep it a pinch free a day at a time!

Brutus. Roman Czerniawski was a Polish pilot in WWII that became an agent for Germany and when sent to London he turned himself in to MI-5 for debriefing and became a double agent for MI-5. His MI-5 code name was Brutus, after Caesar's friend and assassin. You've been sent to Dallas with purpose, remember the Cause Brutus! Has a nice ring to it I think... Seriously though, he would eventually play a major part in miss-information to the Germans about the D-Day invasion. He was/is an unknown hero that saved many a G.I.'s lives on the beaches of Normandy in 1944. I've licked it, but go ahead eat if you want.

It's 46 and misting here. Your weather sounds better.

I'm assuming it was huge. Someone posted it and I'm sorry I can't remember exactly the line, but weren't GMTM and DDB talking this past winter about how they both were on the same page as how to develop the Sabres roster and it was the compete opposite of what we were seeing on the ice under Nolan?

Starting using Copenhagen snuff in college to stay awake at night to study. At age 40 after trying to quit with every over the counter remedy I went to the doctor and got a prescription for Chantix. It took four weeks on Chantix to quit. You will get freaky dreams and your stomach will be upset and it will last for a few weeks after you stop taking the pills. Best $100.00 I ever spent. Good luck.

The trade bait had me confused also. I was glad to read that GMTM and DDB where willing to accept growing pains. I just want to watch younger players grow from prospect to farm to big leagues.
-
Thanks. Not that it's a better way to wind up in the hospital with blood on the brain, still just bad luck.
-
Was that from the mid-ice collision with his own team mate? Hope he gets better!

It was my nicest attempt to make sure you weren't one of the those going under over-passes in the Fiat or on your bike that said "Oh, it can't be that deep" or "the water can't be flowing that fast" right before you took off... I was hoping common sense went hand in hand with being pedantic

Completely agree things ended good for a few of the youngins, but with no pressure to win their playing time should have been increased earlier. Unless some one has a bunch of statistics that show as Larson and Grigeranko starting showing promise the teams' corsi, time of possession, shots on goal all began to improve and they where giving us a better chance to win, they were finishing last. If you're implying that the Larson and Grigeranko where intentionally held back by Nolan to achieve last place I will disagree. Nolan has many faults as coach, but I really do believe his greatest fault was he thought he was doing his absolute best to coach them to a win by playing older less talented and yet less mistake prone players over younger ones. That's my description of "mishandled" in this case.
-
I hope you and your family came out of it unscathed! There were a lot of people caught of guard.
-
I'm agreeing, but with one minor caveat. I don't believe the vision for last year was to protect or shelter the kids. They where miss-handled by Nolan, and they didn't get a chance to play until injuries and trades forced Nolan to put them on the ice. Then we started to see what potential there was. I believe we are 3 months behind realizing the potential of Larson and Grigs, they should have been playing more in January, but it wasn't till March they got their chance. Slight difference, but I believe we still have the same idea that this up coming season is still not about the number of wins, but the growth of players within the organization. Which may have been last seasons vision, but Nolan didn't coach it that way. And I am excited that GMTM and DDB are on the same page as to wanting growth of the youth as opposed to trade for instant gratification. I was not that keen on trading the future for RW now, when now is not our time.

It was a great game ! I hope Derrico was able to watch, I think he is a big Oshawa fan.
-
That is very true. If you take National Pride and emotion out of it, are people that think Jack is a better prospect to be treated as black sheep? I've watched a lot of Conner, thought that it was Conner or a wasted season of tanking for nothing for a long time. Then the IIHF happened. Maybe I looked on with rose colored glasses, but to many with knowledge of what it takes to impress wrote that it was impressive. I hate to be considered just a blind fan...

Evil sarcastic Sizzle is my favorite Sizzle. Are you talking about a young man that just played against some of the best in the world and not only held is own, but looked "impressive"? And comparing him to another young man that played against the best very similar to his young age and that looked "impressive"? That some may consider the one the looked good against the best in the world a better prospect is just crazy talk? Is that the question? I'm confused as to who is rational in this debate.

Tampa in 7. I want them to win because I like them more. It's sports and I don't need to be rational.

Yes it was!

Sorry about being a little pointy, I actually wasn't sure if you where just funning or trying to determine if the dog was "broken" (I think is what dog people call a beaten and submissive dog). But the Border Collie is definitely one bread that looks like it's going get a woopin almost all the time. Your probably right that T/K Pegs is standing just out of the frame to left giving her commands. I think it's 100% border. I think this one is a "Barbie" Border, a little bigger than a "working" border, more apt to live as a companion that looks good and can hang in subdivision land without going stir crazy. The smaller working borders would be trying to herd the office staff. Mrs. Racer grew up on a farm that had borders. She got a kick every time her parents' border herded me up to the barn when we went to visit her parents and her dad had to make the dog sit and wait or else I had bloody ankles. -
The NHL Channel aired the semi final round of the Memorial Cup last night between Quebec and Rimouski. Finally got to see some of the potential draft prospects from the other Canadian Junior Leagues. Some young goalie named FUCALE! played very well and I am sure there is a SS member that is happy about this.

It's you. It's a Border Collie, their job is to herd what ever the farmer has, they do it by nipping at the heals of the livestock. That's just the way they walk/run. They are extremely smart and it actually appears to be trying to herd the office staff. -
