  1. It amazed me there were/are protests. It wasn't that long ago they would be at best rounded up and sent to prison, but more likely just shot where they stood. I do not support the harsh treatment of young hockey players in a matter in which they have no say, I understand that the federation feels the need to make a statement. But it doesn't hurt anyone but young kids. There's no financial give up by either Putin or the IIHF. To me there is no logic in that. Let the kids play in the Tournament with non descript uniforms with no names on them.
  2. It's an 82 game season. How many of the core have been close to playing even remotely near that? Dahlin. It's part of learning the NHL. Let the rest figure it out before we say they are slacking. The lockdowns have totally messed with all the young players. This is their first real year.
  3. DG has spoke at length about this. Hardest thing to teach at the NHL level is the speed that needs to exist to play offense. This year is the wash away Kruger year. It's why Casey can make boneheaded plays and not get benched. It's why they give up so many odd man rushes and leave their goalies with horrible stats. The good and the bad. Can't learn if you can't make mistakes. It's not about win's and losses. It's about the growth of the core. If you see growth, KA and staff are winning.
  4. No good vet is coming here. No trade clauses, rather retire, take less money to be on a contender, they're not excuses they are realities. Anderson, Butcher, Dell, Eakin, and Tokarski. These are the vets that are willing to give it a try in Buffalo hoping to be traded to a contender if they play well. KA didn't deal himself this hand, he took the challenge though. He knows the only way out is draft and build. It's 2014 to KA and DG. The only saving grace is if the league steps up and closes the loop holes with the cap. We have a chance to get a couple overpriced vets to play here, and may actually want to be here.
  5. Another weird start time for the only time zone that matters (EST). 😜 That's right SS it's another round of... Your Buffalo Sabres take on the Dallas Stars in a Sunday Matinee game. May there be many a skyrocket for the good guys.
  6. But sadly he still looks better than Eakin. No one is love with Jankowski, he just looks like a better option to be playing than Eakin.
  7. If our improvement year over year is the same as last year to this year I see us in the upper 70's low 80's points wise. Noticeable improvement yes, drastic improvement no. A good rebuild in full swing.
  8. My eye test tells me Hayden is better than the other 2. Putting 2 players on the line slightly better than Hayden (Jankowski/Girgenssons) would be a NHL competitive 4th line. It's doable if we ever get healthy.
  9. There's a rumor that Anderson has a house outside of Miami and has asked to be traded if they want him. The deal is not much in return from Florida but Anderson would return on a vet minimum contract to Buffalo. We wouldn't get anything, but we would get a goalie this summer without giving up anything. They get a back up goalie for future considerations. Why not?
  10. Dubas looks just like Forest. It's uncanny.
  11. That made my day. Why Toronto? Why? He's not worth the fax machine paper to confirm the trade.
  12. Florida. He's going to Florida right before the deadline. He's going for a bag of pucks and he will be back in September to do what he was supposed to do this year. Teach UPL what it means to play in the NHL.
  13. Thank you. It's what I thought and it happened because of the Devils is what I remember.
  14. A team can no longer front or rear load contracts right? Can't sign VO so his first 2 years he is paid most of his contract so the third year is cap friendly? Which I'm assuming is when most of our youth will be looking for big contracts. Example: sign him to a 3 year deal at 5 mill/5 mill/2 mill. The cap hit is just averaged at 4 mill per season?
  15. We'll be the team no one messes with, strong as iron I tell ya!
  16. Please note the unusually starting time for 2 east coast teams. These two teams met less than 2 weeks ago for an entertaining game. The good guys lost in overtime. Do the Sabres have enough gas in their tanks to replicate the play they had the afternoon before against the Avs? Normal bat channels , new bat time, check in and find out.
  17. Do not blame the defender. For if the attacker wishes a committed and admirable duel the glove needs slapped upon the rightful face.
  18. That is a heck of a pay raise over his current contract where his pay is comparable to his output and peers. https://www.capfriendly.com/comparables/victor-olofsson-10259 The top ten comparable contracts to VO's are in the salary range of 2-3.7 mill per. During his last 2 years (I'll call it a show me contract) his production was on par to his pay till this latest stretch. I have no problems with 4.5 for 3 till the third year, only because the Sabres will have the cap space and it won't be a burden. I think the Sabres will be into a cap situation in the third year and this contract will be a problem for a 3rd line player.
  19. One of the major deficiencies that this team has had for a number of years is the lack of secondary scoring. If you put Olofsson on a third line with either Krebs, Mitts or even Cozens that problem will be ameliorated. It's rather fun to have to do and internet search for a word because I have never heard of it before. I'll never remember to use it, but if I'm ever at a bar on trivia night and a free beer is on the line and this word solves the answer well...... It was all worth it.
  20. So what is fair? I'm in the 3.5 for the 3 camp.
  21. Every bad aspect of his defensive game from earlier in the season.,.. 1 on 1 2 on 1 Board play Net front presence All around snark Is no longer an anchor on his game. Has been working on his defensive game, and he has been for the last 15-20 games and very competent defensive defenseman. It is quite amazing how well he has progressed. I was one of his biggest critics at the start of the year when he was a turn over machine and would get turned around in the d-zone. He is playing with confidence and I credit that to the coaching staff and his work ethic.
  22. He's our best defenseman since ???? Cambell? He's young and getting better every game. He's night and day better than the start of this season.
  23. That was three penalties in one. High stick Interference Roughing You can see the idiot in the corner with the orange arm band that watched it all.
