  1. Matthews is in a different class but there are tons of long term deals that teams regret.
  2. I haven’t been a fan of Kane coming to Buffalo. He is not what the team needs, PK, faceoffs, defensive play, grit etc… With Quinn’s injury I would consider him as a replacement but he is injured as well. A big fat no from me.
  3. 9 hour wait in Vancouver airport. Watching a bunch of Black Mirror episodes. Kind of a Twilight Zone vibe with some futuristic tech stuff.
  4. I am in the Yukon until tomorrow. It was smoky from local fires until a week ago but the NWT fires haven’t blown smoke here.
  5. I watched HNIC for the past 55 years. Don Cherry had some interesting takes over the years and he stood by his ideas forever. He got a lot of mileage from a journeyman playing career and a few good years coaching a good team. I liked quite a few of his shows but he started to wear me out in the second half of his TV career. I couldn’t stand it when he would show footage of himself predicting something years ago and then gloating about it coming true. He was knowledgeable and watched a ton of hockey but he also predicted hundreds maybe thousands of things over the years. Obviously some predictions would come true but I hated the fact he never admitted he was wrong hundreds of times. Overall, I liked most of his shows but I don’t miss him.
  6. Sabres players have come and gone, RJ was there for it all.
  7. Rest in Peace Rick. Thanks for the many memories.
  8. Colorado, mountains and Stanley Cups. Nashville, music and a great fanbase. Tampa Bay, golf and Stanley Cups. Vancouver, mountains and Ocean. Edmonton, contrarian choice but it would be cool to play with McDavid and be a part of some milestone achievements
  9. Toronto, can’t stand the fanbase. Arizona, sh**show. Florida, no real fans there. Tough choice because I would love to golf year round. New York, too big for this guy. Columbus, lack of success and haven’t heard many good things about the city.
  10. It’s like hearing that Sam Reinhart is a third liner in Florida. He was third in TOI for forwards behind Barkov and Tkachuk. Sure he plays on the third line but he is on PP1 and plays PK as well.
  11. Clifton played USNTDP and Dumba did not.
  12. That has been a pet peeve of mine for the last few years. Teams are giving away players with sweeteners as cap dumps but maybe those players don’t want to be in Buffalo in KA’s mind. I know teams fear offer sheets because of retribution but KA could have had someone like Swayman for a reasonable amount. The tool is there for all to use. Most teams are tight to the cap every year, keep some powder dry and scoop some talent every year and set a new trend for how to put your team over the top. Teams will smarten up and see this as a potential strategy. If the teams don’t want offer sheets, get rid of them. Another play is to help broker deals and get those precious picks/prospects that KA loves.
  13. Hope springs eternal. I really think they can assert themselves as a team others respect, and make the playoffs.
  14. I can’t link the video because of limited data and wifi access in the Yukon, but my goal song would be All Fired Up by Pat Benatar.
  15. That’s cool for him, never liked him as a player. Rami Malik was good as well in his short role as Hill.
  16. I just crossed over into the Yukon, no sign of Cozens yet.
  17. I still find it wild that Reinhart, Ekblad and Bennett are on the same team.
  18. Bedard is really good but I don’t think he will win the Vezina.
  19. I caught last night, 3 hours flew by. It’s kind of cool to see Damon and Downey Jr. in supporting roles.
  20. Ernie Whitt took some mighty cuts back in the day.
  21. The move restores the balance to 11 teams in the east and west divisions. Winnipeg was the furthest team to the east. 6 of the 11 in the west are US based. All 11 in the east are in Canada.
  22. I agree that nothing is set in stone. While Levi is the only waiver eligible of the three, I think he is the least likely to be sent down. It will be an interesting battle to watch. I think Comrie’s salary makes him easier to send down on waivers, most teams are tight to the cap and have one or two guys at his level already.
  23. On my way to the Yukon. I have lots of time so I took the scenic route through Banff and Jasper Alberta. I’m in Fort St John in northern BC and still 14 hours from Whitehorse. My work location is another 7 hours north of Whitehorse. Beautiful country, looking forward to new sights.
  24. They met again today and Owen gave him his stick, signed.
