  1. UPL, keep the mojo going. Dahlin, show them that you are a force to be reckoned with. Cozens, your turn to light the lamp. Let’s go Buffalo! Monster Winds outside.
  2. I liked it, as I’ve said before I am old school eyeballs. I liked that 90% of his time is watching the games and not spreadsheets. I understand his role better now.
  3. Better than Don Cherry calling him Sammy Wilson.
  4. Not opposed to this, I think we need Mitts and the Mule though.
  5. Dahlin, Joker, Bryson, Pysyk, Miller, Butcher are left so you are correct. If you bring a guy up, play him and sit Butcher. See what you have coming vs what has Butchered some of the games.
  6. https://www.tsn.ca/Hockey-Canada/video/race-for-the-roster-owen-power~2344248 Link to Craig Button video about Power’s impact on Team Canada.
  7. Mule train is a coming.
  8. I’d like him to play with Mitts eventually, I just think they would be a good match. I like a scoring winger matched with a centre on his forehand side. LHC with shooting RW and RHC with scoring LW. The set up seems better than having to pass on your backhand a lot. If the line does a lot of East-West movement and switching it doesn’t matter. If the C is the sniper (Matthews) then a playmaking RW makes sense (Marner).
  9. It’s money in the bank to hit on late round picks. Everyone says it is a crapshoot after the 1st round but these guys have got an edge.
  10. I’m not going to miss him. He made a lot of mistakes and did not provide much offense.
  11. Ideal situation would be the Sabres getting one of these guys and they develop like Moritz Seider in Detroit.
  12. I like that they didn’t go Alamo in the third. They remained composed and zipped the puck around. UPL was solid, keep it up kid. Dahlin played well all over the ice, seemed to be in control. Going to bed feeling better than the last few weeks.
  13. I kind of remember a lot of his SHL goals were similar.
  14. Analytics are not my thing but I read the article. It makes sense that they perform better on their forehand side. One advantage I can see is an improved shooting angle, like the forwards on their off side, think Ovie. The puck is in front of them when walking the the line which is easier to handle. A big downside is being on their backhands while holding the wall or pinching. Breaking out of the zone on your backhand is also not ideal. Mike Babcock was adamant about this LD-RD balance when he coached Team Canada. He must have got some analytical info some where plus his eye test and experience. I will keep a close eye on Team Canada’s World Junior team defence as they selected 8 LHD this year, Owen Power being one of them. Bottom line, there are a lot of good RHD available at the top of this year’s draft so I would pick one in order to have one in the pipeline. If the Sabres stick with multiple lefties, then they need to make one or two of them comfortable on the right side in order to maximize their effectiveness.
  15. My favourite team vs favourite Canadian team. Git ‘er done boys and stop this slide. UPL with another strong showing while Cozens and Dahlin lead the way offensively.
  16. People have had their eye on him for a while. I believe Alex Killorn has played summer hockey against him (as a young teenager) and raved about his ability. He played junior in Carleton Place and that organization had a good reputation for finding talent. The owner/ GM /coach was one guy. He has since sold the team.
  17. Sabres could win a few games once the Olympics are over and other teams are depleted.
  18. Johansson on waivers from Colorado as per TSNs Chris Johnston.
  19. Wow, Bruins only have 1 prospect in this tournament. Seattle has only had one draft yet has 2.
  20. Pretty good analysis after only one exhibition game. I hope he keeps developing and improving. I know goalies take time but Spencer Knight has already made the jump, Levi should turn pro after this season. If he continues at this pace I can’t see what another NCAA season will do for him.
  21. Link to an interview with Owen Power. Nothing groundbreaking, he’s comfortable in front of the camera and speaks well. https://www.tsn.ca/Hockey-Canada/video/canadas-big-dog-power-brings-improved-in-zone-offence-to-world-j~2340095
  22. Agree. I noted the cap space because it shouldn’t matter if it is a 1M contract or a 7M one, they can do it. I would prefer no long term deals, two years sounds about right.
  23. Sabres are the home of the JAGoalies. Send us your weak, your damaged, your never was and your cardboard cutouts. KA must get a goalie next year to mentor and shelter UPL/Levi/Portillo. They have the cap space to afford Price or Bob, so no one should be out of reach. I know some those contracts’ term is crazy but if they can convince a real goalie that they have turned a corner and need him to get over the hump, do it.
