The 3 1st round picks will help perpetuate the way KA is building this team. They are young and talented and there needs to be some more guys in the hopper as people age out, move on or are traded. Assuming Quinn, JJ and UPL make the team next year, the Sabres will be loaded with players that were high picks. 12 players were 1st rounders, 9F and 3 D. 4 we’re 2nd rounders, 2F, 1D and 1G. The outliers are VO (7) and Bryson (4). In the pipeline are 1st rounders Johnson and Rosen. This is a weaker draft but they should be able to find some NHL talent in the first 41 picks. The future is bright and KA and staff seems to want to keep doing it the right way.

I listened to a podcast this morning that had Craig Button as a guest. He is at the U18 tournament in Germany and he said there were 150 NHL team staff over there, including some GMs. Sabres must have some scouts and hopefully they considered talking to the kid. I hope his treatment is going well, he may go much later than was expected months ago and turn out to be a solid NHLer.

Thank you RJ, I enjoyed your play by play immensely over the years and I listened intently tonight. I avoided posting here so I could soak it all in. Well, wait until next year. This feels like it Carrie’s more weight than in the past. That’s a wrap folks, clean out day interviews are the next newsworthy items. Then the draft lottery.

The Sabres are skating hard, covering a lot of ice. Possession seems to be 3:1 for the good guys. Keep it up! They are winning a lot of battles too. Not reflecting on the scoreboard yet, but they have had good chances.

Beat the Bruins badly, boys from Buffalo. Show them that the Bruins are the past and that the Sabres are the future. Maybe UFA Bergeron would want to come over and replace Eakin as our checking line and faceoff specialist.

He is physical but you don’t take a Kaleta in the 1st round. He is golfing now, North Bay Battalion beat Ottawa 4 straight.

Ottawa reaching with Tyler Boucher is certainly different than picking the 14th ranked guy 10th. I’ve watched Boucher play 4 playoff games vs North Bay and he has tools but does not look like a 1st rounder.

Sense Arena is the VR software used by Levi, he got into it during the Covid-19 shutdown. The other prominent goalie using it is Merzlikins.

That is a good sign that Levi is watching. Cozens and Krebs are friends of his. I read somewhere yesterday that Levi is into some Virtual Reality training software. The article was saying there are two current NHL goalies using this as well. Grubauer was one of them, I’ll search for the story and post a link.

Marcus Foligno is not hard to root for as well. I like the Avs because of the high end skill of MacKinnon and Makar but the Wild would be my dark horse team. I listened to the Ray and Dregs podcast yesterday, Jacob Middleton is a funny guy and an old school Dman that I like as well.

Kemell wins it in OT with his 3rd of the game. He was impressive in this one, sneaky little steal and then a good breakaway move. Canada blew it with so many penalties.

I would like Jiricek at 9 but I don’t think he will drop. Some lists have Savoie dropping that much but I think the Sabres will be deciding between Nazar, Kemell and Lambert. Lambert has so much skill, he could end up as the best player in this draft. The question is whether he can put it all together and work with others. Gauthier, Kasper, Ohgren at 16 are possibilities. Howard has had a good showing at the U18 tournament.

Thompson actually has played well, his team didn’t give him any run support.

He got hurt in the 1st game vs Prince Albert. He fell awkwardly and they called it a lower body injury.

Heiskanen is playing RD tonight. Not sure if he does that a lot.

Benn and Seguin need to turn back the clock and make some magic. They need to drink whatever Pavelski drinks. Cmon!

I’ve been watching that game before Dallas started playing. He has 5 games in a row with 3 or more points. NHL record is 6.

Dallas seems more physical at this point, they can taste the playoffs.

He did play a lot of RHD in Sweden so his comfort level with it is good. He said he likes it in the offensive end. If Dahlin stays on the right, he could make that his trademark, not many top Dmen have played their opposite side. A guy like Ovi playing LW stands out, in my opinion, because that is not very common. Many left handers have played RW though, like Mogilny, Bure, Richard.

Mike Bossy was around that draft position.

People underestimate Levi and that helps motivate him. Keep it up.

If I had to root for one team in the East it would be the Panthers, because of Reino.
