I didn’t mind him, I just think the window here has closed for him. He would only see NHL ice if there were multiple injuries. I don’t think he has the defensive game to be a 4th liner and his offensive game isn’t at the level to crack the top 9. Thanks for trying, enjoy Swiss hockey, among other things.

I am not a Lehner fan but if he had been treated properly, he could still be here holding down the Fort for the young 3.

Quinn is probably similar to Krebs, in that he will get shoved around in board battles. Once these guys add a few pounds of muscle they won’t be pushovers. An added benefit may be more explosive speed and shots. It takes years to get legs like Crosby’s but they can gain some strength every year.

Welcome to the forum. I agree on most of your points but I am still hoping Levi signs. Even if he matches or exceeds his past season they will be hard pressed to win a championship. Northeastern rode his coattails to get as far as they did. He may win the Hobey Baker if he repeats those numbers, so maybe that is a goal. Because of his dedication to Hockey Canada and getting no ice at the Olympics perhaps they should bring him to the World Championships. That would be good for his development. I think Portillo signs because Michigan is all in this year and will likely lose many core players.

I am being picky here and I have no clue if analytics back this up but, I have always favoured a left handed C if the trigger man is the RW. My reasoning is I like the C making forehand passes to a guy like Quinn. I know they move around a lot in the offensive zone and on the rush but the RW will be on the right side for the majority of the time. I would play him with Mitts and maybe Krebs if he lines up at C.

Personally, I don’t like it. It is tough for play by play guys to get out, especially on back and forth passing.

If he has crested that 50% hump for good then they have someone other than Eakin in that group. Keep practicing, become the go to face off guy so Eakin can leave.

They still need to address goaltending but this team is getting better.

They are working hard on the backcheck and battling for pucks. Florida is good but has not had much room to operate. I like the effort and the team play. Mitts had some good plays, he wins some board battles with quick hands and body positioning. He also made a nice backhand saucer pass.

Dallas Stars won again to knock Vegas out of the wildcard spot. This is the most interest I’ve ever had in the Stars.

Florida will be tired from yesterday. The Sabres need to take advantage of this and play a fast paced game. They have shown to be capable of this and need to pressure the Cats to have a chance. Too bad Levi couldn’t have been signed and have him start vs Knight in a World Juniors grudge match. Let’s go Buffalo!

He should be able to beat Cole Caufield in a board battle. Seriously though, the reach and strength should be an advantage when cycling the puck. If he shields the puck with that big body, most defenders will have a hard time.

He will be a beast along the wall if he gets more physical. Add a reverse hit (Forsberg) to his arsenal and he gets extra time and space to create offence.

He’s a great goalie but it is too much for two years of service. A goalie on the next tier may be available as a UFA or a cap casualty in the summer.

In a year where they have 9 picks, a goalie in the later rounds would be wise, imo.

I would keep him, unless a trade offer is just too good. Scoring depth spread throughout your lines is not a bad thing. If your 3rd line has a 20 goal scorer with a ceiling of 30 on it, that is a threat for the opponent. DG will probably look at shuffling the lines a bit to finish the year to get some looks at might work. VO could be on any of the top 3 lines. He can be a shooting option opposite TT on PP1 or the trigger man on PP2 .
