  1. What I have read is that Ryan Leonard plays like a power forward. He has a scoring touch but finishes his checks and plays like he is 3 inches bigger than his actual size. He and Reinbacher might be available when the Sabres pick. Perreault is the son of Yanic, the two way centreman who played 800+ games in the NHL. He was known as a faceoff specialist later in his career.
  2. I will watch but I don’t expect this to be a car wreck. I think they bounce back with a win, if DG puts Jost back in. Bonus would be to see Levi start.
  3. Chabot can score at this level but he is no Dahlin. Sanderson has the potential to score more than Power. Chychrun may end up being 3-4 D there for two years, with limited PP time.
  4. He’s good, I wish I could understand him better. I got most of it though.
  5. I did some digging to find out more about these guys. The Sabres should take a RHD with their 1st or one of the 2nd round picks they have. Reinbacher is ranked 19th in Elite Prospects consolidated rankings. He is Austrian, from a town on the Swiss border. He plays pro in the Swiss National League for EHC Kloten. He is a teammate of Arttu Ruotsalainen. He is a late ‘04 birthday and is a FA after this year so he could potentially play in the AHL. He is 7th in scoring on his men’s team with 22 pts in 46 games. Arttu has 42 in 52. He had 2 pts in 5 games for a weak Austrian team at the WJC. Sandin-Pellikka is ranked 12th in Elite Prospects consolidated rankings. He is Swedish but the 2nd half of his hyphenated name seems Finnish. He plays for Skelleftea of the SHL. He has 5 points in 22 games. His numbers are similar to D teammate Elias Salomonsson, Jets ‘22 second rounder. Internationally, he scored 1 pt in 7 games at the WJC. From what I saw his ice time and responsibilities increased as the tournament went on. He scored 10 pts in 12 U18 games for Sweden. His hometown is north of the Arctic Circle near where HOFer Borje Salming was born. Dragicevic is ranked 27th in Elite Prospects consolidated rankings. He plays for the Tri City Americans of the WHL. He is the team’s top scorer, 75 pts in 66 games, despite being a 17 year old Dman. His teammate is Tomas Suchanek, the undrafted goalie from Sabres development and rookie camps. His coach is Stu Barnes. He scored 3 points in 4 games for Canada U18. He attended the same prep school in British Columbia as Dylan Cozens. Bonk is the son of former Sens forward Radek Bonk. He has 40 pts in 64 games for the OHL’s London Knights. The Knights, under the leadership of the Hunter brothers (Mark and Dale) have produced Memorial Cup winning teams and many NHL players. Bonk is 7th in team scoring. He had 0 points in 5 games for Canada U18. His teammate is controversial Habs ‘22 1st rounder Logan Mailloux. Strbak is Slovak and plays for Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL. He will attend Michigan State next year. He played 4 years in Finland prior to this season. He has 17 points in 40 games this season. He scored 3 pts in 9 games for Slovakia at the WJC. He has never been a high scoring Dman throughout his minor and junior hockey days. Brzustewicz is a late ‘04 from Michigan, playing for the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL. He has 55 pts in 65 games to stand 3rd in team scoring. This team has 6 NHL draft picks, including 2 Dmen. He has 20 pts in 55 games with the USA U18 team. He scored 9 pts in 25 games at the USNTDP junior team. He scored 2 pts in 5 games at the WJ U18 and 3 pts in 4 games at the U18 Hlinka-Gretzky. His GM and coach is Mike McKenzie, Bob’s son.
  6. Asplund revenge game. I doubt Levi starts without having a proper practice but I would like to see it. Anderson and UPL’s last games have been far from stellar. Besides, we need someone to win at home. Let’s go Buffalo!
  7. I watched one Sens game and we wasn’t very good. Sanderson plays PP1 while Chabot plays PP2. I guess he will need some time to acclimate to that team but he will be complimentary, not a go to guy.
  8. I like how he simplifies the goaltending position to just find a way to stop the puck. Whoever is the best at stopping the puck gets to play. I’m sure he is well versed in the finer points of goaltending technique and all of the analytical data but in the moment you need to trust your instincts, your training and just stop the puck. This simplification of thought and not cluttering up your brain really resonates with me. People I have golfed with are often worried about some technical part of their swings or the hazards that surround them. When my game was at its best, all I did was look at the target and put the ball there. I tell playing partners that when cavemen were hunting with spears they did not worry about weight shifts, wrist flex or keeping their heads still. They looked at the target and threw the spear there. Anyway, just stop the puck Devon. Practice is the time to experiment, the training sessions are where you refine the movements but the games are when you trust your skills and just stop the puck. You go kid!
  9. Nah, he is just some lowly 7th round pick. I can dream that he becomes the best of his generation.
  10. If tournaments count then add the Beanpot.
  11. You only get one chance to make a first impression.
  12. Low bar but I’ll take it. They could still get close to 90 points with a short winning streak.
  13. Nice goal, Ryan Johnson and Aaron Huglen were on the ice.
  14. I would move Kulich if the return is Saros. Trade assets: All draft picks, UPL, Comrie, Bryson, Olofsson (get him 30) and all prospects except Savoie and Kulich. Bye bye: Comrie, Bryson, Clague, Hinostroza, Okposo. Greenway has a 20 game tryout next year. I like KO but he is done. His leadership has helped but he has only played 24 playoff games in 16 years. Give the C to one of the young guns and bring in a vet with a winning pedigree + sandpaper. I’ve mentioned McDonagh before as an example.
  15. I am willing to give him time, maybe he has been hobbled a bit lately. Adapting to a new team/city takes a while. I’m not giving him all of next season though, if he plays like this for the first 20 games, he sits, gets moved or demoted.
  16. He should have used a lower case p. Mule-Power is an interesting concept though. I keep wanting a top 4 Dman to partner with Power but what if Mule is the best fit? The new guy could be with Dahlin.
  17. Big loss, body wise, not value wise. I wish Krebs was his size.
  18. Haven’t seen much of that, any teams do it consistently? Gretzky probably got 500 points this way.
  19. Defensive awareness. @Taro Tmentioned in another thread about both D going below the goal line and the forwards being slow to support. They have speed and skill to burn, just improve their defensive responsibilities.
  20. Pegula bucks. The Wild got a 2025 4th round pick for retaining 25% of ROR’s salary for the Leafs. The actual dollars were $85K because of salary bonus already paid out. Pegula probably didn’t want to pay a cent to help ROR or the Leafs but there were other deals.
  21. A small thing in the big picture but I’m still mad that KA did not use any cap space at the deadline. I was sure he would get a few late round picks for brokering a deal or two for contenders. No big deal but they are assets that can be used to sweeten the pot on deals on draft day when GMs get worked up about a kid they really want. At the very least, you can use the picks and maybe one pans out. Poor use of cap space for a guy who preaches draft and develop.
  22. He should sit for Jost. Jost brigs way more energy, can take faceoffs and has chipped in offensively. Jost has even had a fight.
  23. I know many have said that even a good goalie would have poor numbers behind this team but a few huge saves per game can lift the entire team up. I like your comment on defensive growth. Power will take the biggest step, he can improve by quite a bit by getting stronger and training for 82 game stamina. Mule has room to grow too. Dahlin is not a finished product either. They still need a top 4 Dman. One who excels at the PK would be great.
  24. Playoffs, period. Team defense is a big issue but that can be corrected with coaching and leadership that makes everyone accountable. They can still play a swashbuckling style on offense but they need to have better defensive awareness. I would look to bring in an assistant coach with a good grasp of PK and team defense to help. Most here have said it over and over and I concur, get a top 4 Dman. It adds talent, depth and pushes guys down to where they belong. I would prefer a gritty, stay at home style vet like Ryan McDonagh. A guy like that has been to war, won Cups and has been a captain. I think the culture needs that type of shot in the arm. Goaltending. @Pimlachstated in another thread that they have 3 goalies, so they have none. UPL/Comrie tandem should probably be in Rochester, the first one to refine his game and the latter to find his. One of them could be a Sabres backup option with a good summer and training camp. I am extremely excited by the Levi signing but I believe he should be in Rochester. He is smart enough to realize this is a marathon, not a sprint. Get a true #1. I love the top prospects but they are assets. A guy like Saros would instantly boost the team.
