  1. Hopefully he’s not down there long. Sobotka is keeping his spot on the bench warm.
  2. It’s better than an air sandwich, which is just 2 slices of bread with air between them.
  3. Actually the original “no pull up” controversy was at the 2014 NHL Combine when Sam Bennet registered none. https://www.nhl.com/news/no-pull-ups-no-problem-for-top-nhl-draft-prospect-sam-bennett/c-721393 Despite this epic failure, he was drafted 4th overall by the Flames. However, the no pull up fiasco has had lasting effects through his career as Sam Bennett remains a 3rd liner. Scouts and GMs take note; no pull ups = future problems.
  4. Can anyone PM a streaming link? I’ve been all through the reddit ones, no luck.
  5. Sobotka, into our own goal.
  6. I remember, faintly, seeing Sobotka and the 2nd Liners in the mid-80s. Wasn’t impressed. They sucked.
  7. Do you mean playing 5-6 games all of 19-20 season? Sounds good to me.
  8. And if Buflyn retires, they’ll have an even bigger need for Risto. Either way, Risto will be fine under Kruger. Keep him.
  9. Agreed. Context is important here. Last preseason, he was acquired in a trade of a malcontent. This preseason, he’s the guy we acquired for the most recent Conn Smyth winner. This perception matters, big time. But should it? Maybe he has been having a worthy preseason, if we would allow him to.
  10. It just seems strange though. We can give personal guidance, but can’t really impose a gameplay, correct techniques, or a style of play. It’s all in their hands. Now, the cream always rises to the top, so I don’t worry about Cozens being mishandled, but I could see it happening to a lesser player. Heck, we seem to “mishandle” or irreparably “ruin” prospects ourselves, so I guess it can happen anywhere (or, they were never really good to begin with). And we have no say in where our prospects play, even it’s still in the CHL.
  11. The question I have is, what sort of role does the Sabres organization play in his development over the next year? Is it just “bye, see you next year” as we leave his development up to people outside of the organization?
  12. Wasn’t this the ROR trade in a nutshell?
  13. Simple. Bonds. A long-term bond ETF will pay you 3%. This yield is depressed right now because bonds have gone on a run because people think the world is about to end, so if you are patient, one can get 4% or more. Plus, you reinvest the dividends until you need them and compounding interest will make some very wealthy if they have $5M to spare. The risk is very low considering shareholders get wiped out in a bankruptcy, but the company still have to pay their debt.
  14. I fail to see the reason why Faulk would change his NTC. If he was ambivalent about going there, he wouldn’t have included them on his no trade list. He doesn’t want to go there. Where’s the leverage to convince him otherwise?
  15. If JB is going to dump Risto for a bunch of spare parts, right now would be a great time. I don’t think many in Buffalo would notice.
  16. I could see this as the most likely scenario. Otherwise, Anaheim wouldn’t be trying to dump a player they’re could otherwise LTIR themselves.
  17. Yep. I would rather them match it then them getting 4 1st rounders. Those 3 guys are great, but they don’t make a team and TOR would be handcuffed for a while.
  18. This is good news, but I’m not excited about Toronto getting 4 1st round picks.
  19. Well, you can tell him what’s going to happen once the season starts. This is probably the fairest thing for both sides, so Sabotka can start making plans now. Then why wait around and just make the jump now?
  20. This thread is a showcase of human condition. A topic that has already been beaten to death and people are still jumping on the grave.
  21. I agree with Montour. But whether we get the Miller of last year vs 2-3 years ago remains to be seen.
  22. What moves? Are you referring to trading for a defensemen who was demoted to a 5/6 pairing or a defensemen who spent the later half of last season in the AHL? If we were looking to replace a 5/6 guy, I would agree. But we’re trying to replace a defensemen who ate up the most minutes (for better or worse) last year. Plus, we have 2 defensemen who will be starting on IR at the start of the season.
  23. I want quality over quantity. Roslovic wasn’t any better than Mitts last year and I’m not familiar with Perrault. Actually, I now am. If we’re going to acquire a LW, make sure he’s an excellent one. Ehlers is and Perrault is not.
