Actually, if we had drafted him (ie wasn’t exchanged for ROR) and he showed an identical development up until now, many of us would be trying to run him out of town. See Nylander. I’m glad we’re showing him patience.

I went back and looked at offer sheets over the past 10 years. It has been a rare event, only 5 times. In each of them, the sheet was matched. Granted, most of these offers were small potatoes, with the exception of Shea Weber, and wouldn’t have necessarily triggered the 4 1st rounders (although I’m not positive about this because the threshold changes every year). RORs was in 2013 and just a 2 year, $10M deal. We all remember Vanek’s in 2007, which, in hindsight, would’ve been amazing if we didn’t match it.
-
I think signing a RFA in exchange for 4 1st rounders is reckless. I don’t think Jbot has the nuts and opposing GMs would likely call his bluff. I also think the “forced trade” of ROR still stings for him. If a team isn’t calling him with a small treasure for Risto (and they likely aren’t), he’s not going to unnecessarily trade him.

Finally some toughness. Definitely won’t be afraid to join the scrum.

I agree. I can’t believe it. I didn’t have Filip this high on my draft board.
-
Of course you can find one in any round. Franchise QBs can be found in any round too, as can HOF wingers. Is it that top goalie prospects rarely pan out?
-
Pardon my ignorance, but why is it so bad to pick a goalie in the first? These are people who can singlehandedly win games for you. Wouldn’t we have liked this last season?

I don’t want another team’s old spare parts again. I’d rather a draft pick or at least pair it up with an obvious piece of junk and send us a decent prospect. If some team’s 27/28/29/30 year-old isn’t good enough for them, then they shouldn’t be good enough for us. And I want quality, not quantity.

Again, stop making things personal. This is a message board about the Sabres, not me and not you. Go out and take a walk or something.

During the Vesey saga, for better or worse, pretty much everyone was throwing the word “coddled” around. This word was debated ad nauseum. The b-word part was mine. Sorry, it was a joke. I thought for sure this word would be properly filtered. You can take that up with the mods if you wish. This is the internet. Don’t take things so hard.

Really? Do you honestly think someone would say they still can’t sleep over that episode? Next time I’ll try to be more over the top and say that I’ve sending him daily bombs in the mail or have a life-sized effigy of him in my basement. Lol.
-
I’ll all for signing him and sending him to Cincinnati or Rochester. He’ll be a RFA and under our control for a while. That’ll show that coddled bitch. I’m still extremely pissed. Still can’t sleep.

Who did we pick in their re-draft?

But, it takes 2 to sign a contract. What if Skinner really doesn’t want to sign with Buffalo? I’m sure the players understand this and all the blame won’t solely fall onto the FOs shoulders. Skinner can choose not to sign here without directly telling the Sabres “no, I’m leaving”. It’s all in his actions.
-
I bet this is just posturing (ie intentional leak) of the Sabres to let Skinner know there is a plan B. Lee would probably look just as good on Jack’s wing as Skinner has. He’s a tad older though.

I like this idea. If he really wants $9M, then give him close to it, but shorten the length to 6-7 years, which is what he would get if he hits FA. The 8 year deal automatically comes off the table once FA hits. Only elite/franchise players should be given max length contracts. I’m unsure if Skinner fits this criteria.

This brings up an interesting point. Is the NHL season too long? To me, it seems like there are 2 parts to the current season. The 1st half and 2nd half, where the 2nd half is the only one that means anything. Then the playoffs get stretched-out for another 2 months. But, the reasoning behind this has to do with money. More games played, more money made. And it goes both ways too. I’m not sure the players would want to take a substantial pay cut if the season was shortened.

Here’s some examples: Greg Cronin, Rick Wilson and Tim Army. Newell Brown is another, but he had 4 years of being an AHL HC before becoming an assistant of the Blackhawks. It’s not “unheard” that an NCAA HC becomes an assistant HC.
-
I wonder what the numbers say. Do college head coaches entering the NHL more often initially end up as assistants or jump right to HC? I know I’ve heard of both occurring.
-
Apparently is was mentioned that Jbot interviewed 7 people during the HC search. Does that mean that all 7 were specifically for the HC job, or were some of these interviews for possible assistants? For example, I wonder if the talks with Leaman were to get him to come on as an assistant. Same for Jacques Martin.

I doubt Kim would appreciate the subject of this article, nor the details within it. Interesting that we’ll never know exactly what role Keefe played here, as he was a minor and the law forbids releasing this info, but the women involved here got their reputations destroyed.

I read the reddit more carefully for you, which I’ll post below:

I do a lot of whole body MRIs. They have limited clinical use, but do offer a nice overall view of bone/joint health. I don’t think a CT would be the appropriate test for a soft tissue injury, but I don’t have any knowledge of the specifics of Pilut’s injury.

Friedman Says Ralph Kruger has a Legit Shot at Sabres HC Position

There’s also the possibility that Babcock doesn’t get canned...for a long time. They’re still a developing team and could pull it together.
