  1. I bring it up because it's likely the truth, no matter how much we want to think otherwise. In the eyes of the law, to think that blacks are held to a similar standard as whites it's just laughable.
  2. I hate to bring race into this, but he's definitely under the microscope being black in a white dominated sport. Still could be guilty of these accusations though.
  3. I just consulted the How to Coddled Your NHL Prospect handbook. Page 39 says Development Camp attendance is generally frowned upon.
  4. An awesome addition is what I really meant. While we don't really need players, just as we didn't need players during the tanks, I think one is needed if we realistically want a good playoff run. As it is now, we'll likely be battling for a playoff spot, which is still great news.
  5. Hold that thought. Gotta run to the store to pick up some Huggies for Timmy.
  6. There's also a misconception that if we place a teenager on our roster, they'll likely end up like Grigorenko or Zadorov. And even so, there's still no evidence their careers were detrimentally affected by this either. They could've sucked no matter what. If Guhle is ready, he's ready. If not, then he's not. And besides, Guhle or no Guhle, we still need Fowler or Barrie.
  7. I agree with the juniors notion. There's likely going to be diminishing returns with him going back for a 4th year and he may develop more in a sheltered role in the NHL. I don't know. Tough choice.
  8. What he is doing is circumventing the spirit of the NHL draft. It's almost making it look like being drafted is a punishment. Why shouldn't players just be allowed to pick their teams. The excuse of him doing "what he's allowed to do" is a clear case of concrete thinking, especially when he specifically set out to circumvent the draft. If you can look past the "rules", what he is doing is wrong.
  9. I see a lot of "he's following the bylaws of the CBA" or "he's exercising his rights according to the CBA", etc. But the truth is, I can do a lot of horrible, low-class, sleazy things and still be well within my rights according to the US Constitution. Just because someone can do something doesn't mean they should do something, far from it.
  10. This a great plan. Let him give you his 2 favorite teams. Ones that he would definitely sign with if traded to them. Then offer both teams his rights. Ask for a conditional 1st if he signs with them and nothing if he doesn't. Someone will pony up.
  11. I don't know the story of Adam Oates. Did he hit free agency as a result of refusing to sign with the team who drafted him? Did he have an arm's length list of demands for teams looking to sign him? Edit: at least from reading Wiki, looks likes a completely different situation. He wasn't drafted, but was a true FA. And the place he signed was likely motivated by money. $1.1 million 4 year contract in 1985 was likely a lot of money for a rookie back then.
  12. What about time on the PP unit? Anyone think there's a shot in hell CHI or PIT places him on their PP?
  13. Posturing? Just like he did with Nashville? Anyways, can anyone think of another player who pulled this same stunt who went on to become an excellent or great NHLer?
  14. Sounds eerily similar to the Babcock situation, although we have even less details of that affair. If GMTM thinks he's been duped, he doesn't need to tell people about it. Doesn't reflect well on him.
  15. Let him talk to teams now. Have him give you his top 2-3 teams he would definitely sign with. If not us, auction his rights to the top bidder of these 2-3 teams. Get a 2nd for him if you can.
  16. You would think GMTM would know better by now.
  17. Yes. And after it is filled out, it needs to be faxed to the NHL.
  18. This is nonsense. This meeting should've occurred a week ago with signing done today.
  19. Seems to me Vesey should go. The guy's never suited up for an NHL game in his life. I would think even practice would be much more intense than college practice. That's if he signs of course!
  20. Well, from that picture of him on the beach that was floating around a few days ago, I'm sure Samson has seen them. And good ones at that. Jack? I'm not so sure.
  21. 4 1st round picks. Not a typo. 4. And it really doesn't matter if Vanek made them better or not. 4 1st round picks is a king's ransom, if it is the last pick in the 1st. However, Darcy still would've been picking them and we wouldn't have been able to keep them if they panned out.
  22. And if he continues his trajectory, an offer of around $15 million per year likely would be matched by EDM, but put them in a big bind. The trick is that the offer sheeting team likely wouldn't want him just signed for 4 years either, but they could later extend him.
  23. It's possible a trade has already been agreed upon, contingent on us signing Vesey though.
  24. I doubt he'll drive a trade himself, but may sweeten the pot in a combined player(s)/pick(s) trade.
  25. I think at this point, maybe he just shouldn't go out to bars. He has to realize his every action will be scrutinized, but he's apparently blind to this.
