You called me out. Adam Nightingale played in the ECHL and was a college HC coach. Sam Ventura is still a computer nerd and Karmanos was a banker. I’m not on the Geertsen is the difference bandwagon, but you can’t deny the team has become a bit tougher over the past 2 years. And the Amerks is suddenly full of veteran bruisers after perennially getting bounced from the playoffs by bigger, tougher teams.

And yet it took Ruff coming to Buffalo for our FO to figure this out. Granted, it is run by a few computer nerds and a “Banker” (Google “Karmanos Sabres” and Google identifies him as a “Banker”), our GM who is a former NHL player should’ve been able to figure this out.

I find this very odd. Sign him up for 3 years and everyone will be happy. Maybe 4 years. I don’t understand why we would want him under contract at the age of 35+.

What I really think he tried to impress on his players is how not to run an NHL PP. Really got his hands dirty to make it as horrible as possible. Once the players understood the ins and outs of truly sucking, he then told them to do the exact opposite. It became very clear to the players what they shouldn’t be doing.

I think the refs are afraid of Marchand. There’s no other way of explaining it. The league too. This guy has been getting away with murder for a very long time.

For this team, nothing would make me happier than a winning streak. Wins are more important than Kevyn getting fired (even if they are not mutual exclusive).

I just don’t want them putting Ellis out there if this team has already quit. He deserves better than that.

The issue is Tage doesn’t know any better. He could be that leader, but he developed in this mess and what he sees is normal to him. Same for Dahlin. We need a leader to come from the outside. Preferably with the coach and GM that made him a leader.

Couldn’t agree any more. It doesn’t matter the industry, we’ve all worked for upper management that were clueless or don’t act like they care. It can be incredibly demotivating.

I‘m not in favor of signing Tuch. Get what you can get for him and blow it up. Wipe the slate clean. Let the new HC/GM what to do with Tage and Rasmus. At this rate, I would’ve been better to just waive Cozens with the hope someone else kee would pick up his contract. Now we are stuck with one that’s just as high.

This is a real thing in the Corporate world. People who are killing it will get raises, but are usually kept at what they excel at. The ones who suck, get promoted.

I wonder why we didn’t just trade for this guy. Seems like a decent prospect, but it’s an all (succeeds in NHL by some miracle) or nothing (sinks because he came up too early, is waived, and goes back to STL) situation. Maybe they didn’t want to hurt Devon’s feelings? Maybe it’s best to give him as much time as possible and we make the decision in the later half of the year. Another wasted season though.

It’s a gripe be can bring to the NFLPA. They are the ones that pushed for guaranteed contracts. The reason he can’t rip up that contact is because it is 100% guaranteed. Players can’t have it both ways. If this was the NFL, that contract would’ve been reworked already.

So, the question becomes, which will come first: the day of alien disclosure by our government or the Sabres making the playoffs?

So basically they are being used as a tool for his agent (and Tuch) to get a better contract.

I hope they give him some time off so he can focus on his problem. There’s no excuse for this and plain stupid, a kid being in the car too makes a bad situation 100x worse.

Yeah, but we have had excellent/elite play from Dahlin and Tage. I expect this to continue. However, given their already elite play and yet we are still not a playoff team, the push to make it into the playoffs is going to have to come from someone else. So, the question is really, outside of the play we already received last year and the year before, who is going to have to emerge to push us into the playoffs.

I answered Quinn. Could be Norris as well. It needs to be a player that will need to step up his play significantly. I think Quinn is potentially that person.
