  1. Wasn’t he really expendable once we signed Jost? Someone had to go.
  2. This tweet is truly chilling. Wow. This is something very few (if any) experience.
  3. Yeah, we have no one on the pipeline that’s going to help in the next 1-2 seasons. These types of players seem to take longer to develop. So, it comes down to a trade. It’s not like we’re looking for a flashy, offensive defenseman. I think a trade may be out there. There’s anonymous team execs would laughed at the contract we gave Muel. So, there may be some degree of undervaluing such a player. It’s going to come down to a team with excess D prospects and a lack of forwards. And we may even have to overpay, which I why I’d make most on the team available.
  4. What we need is another Muel. I don’t care if we need to trade anyone not named Power, Dahlin, or Tage. We are way too dependent on a single defenseman.
  5. I’m not worried about the Sabres missing the playoffs this year. What I need to see though, is them seriously competing for a spot. I need to see them in the race and not having the season essentially over by February or March.
  6. Lost his love for the game?
  7. I’d definitely take on a boat anchor, just as long as someone of high quality is also coming back, preferably a defenseman. KA is hoarding all this cap space with the assumption that he’s likely going to have to use it to sign all our players over the next few years. However, it doesn’t look like any of them (outside of Dahlin) is going to break the bank.
  8. I don’t like Dahlin on the left side. I feel it neuters his offense.
  9. What happened to the Skinner-TNT-Tuch line? Seems like it was working very well.
  10. This was my worse fear. He is the heart and soul of our team and we’re gonna hurt without him. Our D is basically an AHL squad plus a rookie in need of time.
  11. I think it’s a subtle attempt to kick the fans while they are down. We could’ve been announcing Bagel’s name for us, instead we get Clague. Brutal.
  12. Snooze you lose Devon
  13. He makes it sound like it’s such an inconvenience to reach out to them and he’ll do it when he absolutely needs (not wants) to check that box. I also don’t like how he says “when we were 14”. To me, that sounds like a veiled excuse for his behavior. He could’ve left that out.
  14. We are all guilty of doing some horrible things or having horrible views as juveniles. Myself, I wish I could go back and redo things with what I know now and I didn’t really do anything that bad. But, kids are brutal to each other for very stupid, immature reasons. I’ve been on the opposite end as well. Wish it was never that way. Edit: that said, iirc, this was the case where they forced the kid to bite a urinal puck. That’s just very wrong on so many levels. It wasn’t just incessant teasing.
  15. We need an NHL defenseman. No tweener.
  16. I’m all for shipping out either Mitts or Oloffson. We have too many prospects and not enough room. So, it comes down to who has the highest trade value. Known NHL commodities or prospects with unknown ceilings. We’ve seen Oloffson’s ceiling, not quite sure where Mitt’s is, but it can’t be too much higher. I don’t think either has high enough trade value and will likely just return another player who “needs a change of scenery”. We do have some very valuable prospects, but most view them as “untouchable”. This is an extremely important year for Mitts. The problem is if he continues at his current level, his trade value plummets after the season.
  17. What’s the problem? Teams were allowed to expose incoming FAs and we could’ve protected Toker as our lone goalie. Whether they would’ve taken the decoy (Ulmark) over someone else is unknown.
  18. I do. SEA 2 BUF 6 Should’ve exposed Ulmark. Problem solved. KA lives and learns.
  19. Pretty much this. I don’t think we should view anyone who is not on the current roster as “untouchable”. You never know what may be offered. That said, I asked myself what we are going to do with all the forwards we have amassed? It’s a great problem to have, but there’s very few spots that could be seen as “open” now or over the next 2-3 years. We should be exploring our options. I wouldn’t do anything unless an excellent 3/4 defenseman was coming back though.
  20. I don’t think we should underestimate the effect of this 3+ year wait period. GMs are humans too and will do anything to preserve their job. For such a high pick, they need results relatively quickly. Can a GM who just finished 2nd last afford to wait 3+ years for results before getting fired? I think anyone who drafts Mitchkov is going to be one that feels very comfortable in his seat.
  21. 🤮
  22. I think we are scary think at defense and we really don’t have anyone in the pipeline. I’m not going to count on Johnson. I don’t think the draft is an option as they take too long to develop. I look at Savoie, who I think has a higher offensive ceiling than Krebs or Quinn, and I ask where are we gonna fit him in? I agree, Oloffson can be replaced. Probably Girgs and KO eventually too, but I want them replaced with the same style of player. For better or worse, Skinner is going to be on the active roster until his contract is up. He’s unmovable and we’re not going to pay him that kind of money to sit in press box. Hate to say it, but what happens if Dahlin goes down? If I am going to move Quinn or Krebs, which I won’t be looking to do, it will be for a Chychrun level defenseman or I’ll get off the phone.
  23. It’s not tossing his out. It’s using quality to acquire quality. I have no doubt Quinn will be a very good NHL player. But we have a glut of players like that. I would demand a commensurate return for him.
