A fault of human nature is assuming we have the ability to see everything there is to see. For all we know our universe could be no more significant to existence than a single cell in our body is to our well being. Nothing more significant than a cell dividing.

I should also add that I love that gif only because in my psychedelic days(pre alopecia) that's EXACTLY what I looked like.

I spent an entire acid trip when I was a young fella considering how there could nothing and then a singularity exploded into everything almost instantaneously. Once you start down the rabbit hole in that state of mind you come to a point where you're sure you'll never get back out. I eventually did escape to the surface. Maybe. I did learn some secrets down there though.

Prediction time: Who will Vegas take from the Sabres?
Ogre replied to nfreeman's topic in The Aud Club
I can't vote in good conscience. I can't bring myself all the way around to seeing LV taking the best from each team available with the hopes they can trade away what they can't ice. It'll be interesting to see. I don't see a guy they couldn't live without in our group. Everyone has presented good arguments and have almost talked me out of my gut feeling. Which is....something unspectacular. -
Sabres/NHL official protected lists...here they are
Ogre replied to Sabre fan's topic in The Aud Club
I'm sorry if someone already covered this. Is there an assumption that LV is going to take someone from our pool that will be an immediate NHL talent? They get to dress 20 guys. How many picks are going straight to the farm? I see a lot of juicy AHL talent on everyone's list. Ullmark's new deal makes him less juicy IMO. Why wouldn't LV take a really good AHL on a good deal? A guy with winning experience like Schneider? -
Linus had the most saves in the A last season. I'm guessing most people don't follow both pro leagues and want the familiarity of a goalie coming from college being really good and becoming a staple on the team. Peterson has yet to play pro hockey. Ullmark has played pro and played very well. My money's on Linus.

The fact that s.n.a.t.c.h. is filtered is really silly. Its sort of like when I have a first year class and they're giggling over the fact that I'm talking about erecting.

It wouldn't be a good thing for us if LV were to up Linus. I'm glad for the one way deal because I feel that makes things too rich for LV with the question of waver. First year in Rochester I was a critic. Obviously his limitations associated with his surgery were what I was seeing. This year the kid did every single thing you'd want a goalie to do. He did it all very well. It is what it is though. .....OK Mr. Filter. I'll play your game. *va jay jay*

"It's takes a pretty little gal and a jug of wine. That's what it takes to make a honky tonk mind with the juke box a moanin a honky tonk sound. That's when I want to lay my money down! Cuz I'm a honky tonk man and I can't seem to stop."

Remember Mongoose pre Walmart? Paid a ton for the bike. Worth every penny. Replaced rims several times but the things I made that bike do are unbelievable. Rims and a new front sprocket. Only replacement parts I ever needed. I was too poor for bmx when that came out. I still tried it on my sweet banana seat bike though.

"If I were you I'd better watch out. When was the last time You did anything? Not for me or anyone else? Just because! Just because?"

The Stanley Way. Linus has it.

I participated in extreme mountain biking back in the day up until my spinal fusion 14 yrs ago. Got back into some off trail stuff 4-5 years post op but had to go with a wide seat. Maybe my tween was out of shape but I'd sooner think that I was becoming "chronologically up." Still have that 25 yr old Mongoose in the barn. I'm still in great shape for a dude my age but I'll openly admit that 2 hrs on a bike would cause me all sorts of anguish.

Expansion Draft -- Sabres moves and speculation

Just flowers this year. I planted 50 periwinkle and a few other things for her today. The nurse practitioner that she is convinced is a doctor saw her yesterday and Mom was telling her how much she hated her oncologist. Then she told her "To be completely honest with you dear, I really didn't like you when I met you either. But you've grown on me and I love you now...". You've met me. Now you know where my openness comes from.

I waited because I didn't want to spoil the thread like I did last week. I've been with her this week. Hospice came and enrolled her today so I could finally give her the first dose of morphine. She's been hungry and craving everything but with the stomach so full of cancer she hasn't tolerated food. My hope is that the dope will ease the pain enough to get food in her belly. She's a long time gardener and wants to see the new plants she bought this year do their thing. We got her a transport chair today to take her out to see things but she didn't have the will after the rigors of visitors. This poor girl only has weeks left. For a hard nose Iron Worker that had thought he'd grown numb over the years, my eyes feel all sorts of soggy and worn out..... Then I got back to the hotel alone and watched Sid ruin hockey. What a turd.

That goal thumbed its nose at two trips and a hook.

Very nice work, Josie. I understand (at least I think) about the compulsion for hands on if I am allowed to call it that. Lots of folks have the desire to create like you do. Very few have the talent. IMO keep creating the beautiful things that you do. There are folks here that would pay to have your talent.

"So now I'll take a little glue I'll put together a new glittered room for you So I can start sitting so pretty Instead of sitting here Not seeing clear Just sitting here Not fitting here" (No. Not things they couldn't hear!)

"Doesn't anybody feel that all these killers should be killed? And all these healers should be healed? So all these beggars can be filled?"

I'm recalling an epic showdown over lima beans. It was well into darkness and everyone else had desert and were ready and off to bed while Elaine and I faced off at the dinner table. Hours. I finally caved and ate them. They were good. Elaine was right.

This. Profound. Old Timmy and Grant were actually playing hockey. Ullmark was a brick wall and everyone else looked like part timers. I had a theory about officiating but that was swatted from the sky like a blind housefly. Very few repeat officials. Not many excuses for that last season. I should edit to add in the guys like Austin. Great effort and actually improving. A plus to the season.

I'm sorry to have spoiled the thread this week. On the brighter side of this, she seems completely at peace with all of this. She misses Fred terribly and her unwavering faith has her in her way home to him. I appreciate the kind words. I am humbled how a 75 lbs woman can be so big and strong. She has always been a giant though.

We learned yesterday that Mom's cancer is spreading aggressively. They estimate that she has 2-3 months. I am absolutely heartbroken. I have never felt this level of grief in my 44 years.
