  1. Hogwash. These cases went to grand juries, a group of citizens, not police, to determine if there was sufficient reason to go to trial. The same process applies to all regardless of race. Just because you don't like their conclusion you say it's not fair.
  2. Since he's a veteran, it's more likely he plays for Amerks and they send Lieuwen down to Elmira to get his confidence back.
  3. Blocking traffic because you disagree with a multi-racial grand jury's decision is a sure way to make people less sympathetic. I'd like to know how many of these protesters actually show up when it counts and vote in elections.
  4. Obviously it wasn't enough to indict, because the multi-racial grand jury decided it wasn't.
  5. It will all be explained in the new Star Wars movies.
  6. The danger is there will be a backlash from the "Jesus rode a dinosaur" people who would take us back to the Dark Ages.
  7. The solution would be to take the kids away from their parents and place them in boarding schools. But that would require changing the threshold of what an 'unfit household' is, and that would be fought by the ACLU. I don't see a solution unless the parenting improves. For comparison I look at the Asian refugees who have come to the US with nothing but a work ethic and discipline. Their children, many of whom go to inner city schools, still do well and go on to successful careers.
  8. You're joking, right? Companies can't find enough EDUCATED people to hire for fields like science and engineering, which is why they want the gov't to allow more work visas for foreigners to fill those jobs. There are scholarships and financial aid for the poor to go to college, but they have to do the school work to get to that point. Again, that's on the parents to be role models and make sure the kid takes education seriously.
  9. It's true in most cases. There are plenty of services to help people who are willing to do the work to improve their lives. The first step is taking their education seriously. Once they choose the easy path, they eventually become desperate because it doesn't last. But their desperation is because of their own bad decisions. What desperation lead Michael Brown to steal some cigars? And then attack a police officer?
  10. No, people commit crimes because they see the other options, but don't want to do the work required by that option, like staying in school and studying instead of partying and staying out late. That's first on the parents, and then on the person making that decision.
  11. I am disturbed that a petty thief, when stopped by a police officer, chose to start a fight with the officer instead of following the officer's instructions. What's it going to take for some parents, regardless of color, to raise their kids to obey the laws that the vast majority of us do, and not create situations that require police intervention.
  12. They need to keep their energy up for the real protesting when they carry away the flat screen TVs.
  13. If all the people who could vote would vote, there likely wouldn't be another Republican president. It all comes down to turnout.
  14. An investigation by the Republican-led House Intelligence Committee has concluded that the CIA and U.S. military responded appropriately to the attacks on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012, dismissing allegations that the Obama administration blocked rescue attempts during the assault or sought to mislead the public afterward. http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/house-panel-finds-no-intelligence-failure-in-benghazi-attacks/2014/11/21/0749a070-71dd-11e4-ad12-3734c461eab6_story.html?tid=HP_lede?tid=HP_lede
  15. Obama beat Clinton because his signature issue, opposition to the Iraq invasion, was in sync with Democrat primary voters and the general public. What signature issue would a moderate Republican have that would be in sync with Republican primary voters and the general public?
  16. A moderate Republican won't make it past the primaries. The party has become more conservative than even 2012, emboldened by the wins in gerrymandered congressional districts with small minority populations. Ronald Reagan would be too liberal for them.
  17. So the Republicans want to go to court because Obama made a change that they agree with, but have butthurt because they didn't make the change, he did. So then they should pass a law making the change instead of once again wasting taxpayer's money.
  18. Patty's still snowed in. I want me some Kaleta!
  19. I wish they would at least put him in the slot on the power play like the Bruins do with Chara. Huge screen with good hands to get rebounds.
  20. Recall that he's only been a forward for a couple years. He was a defenseman that the Kings wanted to try at forward when in the AHL.
  21. I'd prefer Makarov stay in Roch and get playing time rather then sit on bench in Buffalo. Get Marty Biron to fill in, he's already on the Pegula payroll at Harborcenter. Yes the rule is different for goalies. The league always wants two goalies dressed in case of injury. They had Irbe sign a pro contract between periods. He could have played.
  22. Actually Gordie played a full season on a minor league team as a first year pro, and then played one game in the minors in his last pro year.
  23. Sounded like the announcer said, "Buffalo with only one shot in this TURD period".
  24. @kevinoDandC: I'm assuming they want their tank back from the #Sabres. RT @pham1717 The National Guard is being deployed to WNY.
