Not going to be able to get a number one goalie, top four dman, and top six forward in one summer with KA. We’re screwed next year.

Nobody knows what he is or can be after just a couple games. He’s doing ok but that's on a team who no longer has realistic expectations (or pressure) to make the playoffs. Let’s see how he does in camp, preseason, and maybe October if he makes it. Maybe another question is, can we flip him in a package for the proven top four dman we really need.

So my need of 55 points is on the higher end of what the numbers show for the league. My estimate was not based on as much data as you. I’m willing to go 20g 30a 50pts for a 2C on this team. It also depends on output from the wingers which I think we should look at. Assuming Thompson moves to RW we need to expend assets on a 1C. IMO, see ya later Quinn and something else. Based on what’s left I think we are looking at: Zucker McLeod Tuch In this case we need McLeod to hit that higher end. Unless you put Norris in for Zucker but then Norris has to stay healthy.

2C needs to put up 20g and 35-40a

In another thread I was against McLeod being 2C. Looking back, a reason I gave against it is also a reason to do it. If Thompson is a winger and not a center, McLeod as 2C might be the way to go. There’s no way this GM can get a 1C, 2C, top four Dman, and goaltending upgrade in one offseason. Then what do we do with Norris? To answer the OP question he is worth 4x$5mil.

If we were a perennial playoff team looking to give a younger center a shot I wouldn’t care. In that scenario we’d have the right players to minimize impacts of this not working out. We are the exact opposite of that. We don’t even know if Thompson is a 1C or a winger and people want to make a 3C into a 2C. So if this experiment doesn’t work out, based on stats from less than one season, we potentially still won’t have a 1C or 2C. KA needs to stop looking inside the cupboard for the answer and find a way to successfully go shopping.

We went down this road with Cozens. Young guy has a good year and it was a fluke. We ask him to make it a consistent output and we shoot ourselves in the foot. I’d rather they get a proven top six forwards not hope we have one. But we need a better goalie and upgrades to Muel/Power. Those take priority and we have Norris. So I hope the focus of the offseason is the defensive side.

I don’t want a team where McLeod is being considered the 2C. I want a guy who plays a two way game with a history of 25 goal seasons.

If they win it’s because the aging backup stole a game. This team should be embarrassed by their defensive play.

Benson on a line with Thompson and Tuch solidifies the season is over. It’s tryout time and showcasing for the rest of the year.

The backup should get about 25 games. With this type of effort that gets you probably 13-17 wins.

If I’m Peterka I tell KA I want to get paid. I use Cozens and Power as examples. If he’s willing to give big contracts to players who mean/meant less on this team, he should be willing to give big money to one who actually helps.
