  1. where is it broadcasted??? how do you watch it??? can someone help me out or pm? cos I.NEED.TO.WATCH.THIS.GAME i'm having hockey withdrawal
  2. I think if you throw Kane on left wing to add some speed that may be very effective IMO
  3. you would seriously trade a 21 year old Reinhart for a streaky 26 year old winger ???????????????? this board is madness it's tempting, but ultimately would cost way too many valuable longterm assets. so no
  4. Casey Mittelstadt: 54 million
  5. I was initially critical of GMJB. I just got this vibe that he didn't understand the value of the entire roster in depth.... But for a first trade this is a damn good deal imo. I'm a fan. Many speculate that D-men peak at around 28. There is probably truth to that. He's only 24. Think about it - 0.38 PPG as a D-men last season. Prior season he was .30. .8 PPG difference in a year is a pretty significant jump. Who's to say when he "peaks" he cant improve that a little bit more? Know nothing about him. but i think my logic is fairly universal. For a 3rd round pick? I love it
  6. why would anyone trade a 26 year old goaltender who's likely to only get better and was top 10 for save% that likely wont get a fair return and probably can be re-signed for relatively cheap. why would you trade such a core piece? I dont trust that rumor if true. Secondly, Why would you trade an elite 21 yr old co-top 2 center that we have not witnessed since Briere/Drury who scored damn near 30 goals his rookie season. He's young to the point where there's absolutely no reason to argue that he won't crack 30-as a playmaker- and who has probably the best passing ability as anyone in the league, and with lot of chemistry with Eichel- and i'm sure he would not be happy. Speed is a single facet of many within a very complex game, people make it seem like he's slow. He's just not fast. So what? Many great players in recent memory are slower than sam. I'm getting this vibe that new gm undervalues his players. There is no reason to think Reinhart is not a PPG or near it at the end of the day. All players develop at dramatically different rates. He literally has barely even cracked the SURFACE of his potential. Why lose a more skilled 21 year old Drury? Are you kidding me?
  7. "Is he going to skate like Kane? No. But I bet if you put him on Jack's wing he's going to open up some space for Jack" but that bum reinhart cant keep up with eichel trade him for vanek and a conditional seventh
  8. There's wayyyyyyy more to hockey than speed, which although not blazing fast, is not nearly the detriment it's made to be. Trading Sam is insanity. How long have we been waiting for our two franchise centers since Briere and Drury and you say you know F IT what I have 2 elite pivots so lets trade one for tanev. WTF? trading him would be a mistake, huge. He's just someone you don't trade
  9. one of fasching, baptiste, bailey, Bogosian with some $ retained and 2018 first/ possibly combined with 2019 first round pick. that should fetch a good player.
  10. A New GM can be a very scary experience. Chiarelli traded Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson- for example. How would you feel? My question to you is: What do you, hope to God, DO NOT want the new GM to do??? As in, if it happened you'd be horrified, furious and overall demoralized. The topic is NOT what you want the GM TO do, simply, what action would you NEVER want the GM to do? Mine are: 1. -DON'T Trade Reinhart. Kid has the potential to be a near point-per-game player IMO. 2nd overall pick. I see him as a 30 goal 50 assist kind of guy, I believe he has underrated offensive potential but isn't flashy so some people's eye test may perceive he's worse than he actually is/will be. 2. -DON'T Trade Nylander. the kid has elite hands, skill-set, everything. This is a star dynamic offensive player that ANY GM would want. He's young, When Eichel and Reinhart are in their peak O'Rielly, Okposo, and even Kane will be getting up there. You need your prized young offensive player going forward to solidify the top 6 spot long-term IMO 3. -DON'T get rid of Kane. Underrated. Exactly the kind of payer you want in the play-offs. The exemplification. Take away his awful slump at the beginning of the season and his numbers look way better. He is gold. Keep him. F*** a top 4 D. It will come in the draft or by trading the 1st o.a pick. Think Nylander, O'Rielly Reinhart, and Eichel alone are enough star power in the top-6? Me thinks not. 4. -DON'T get rid of Foligno. Most character guy in the room. Best 4th line winger on a contender in the league. 5. -DON'T NOT upgrade the D. But DON'T burn valuable long-term assets. Self explanatory. 6. -DON'T make panic moves just because you're "the new GM and have to make the team better immediately." Overall, don't be a GM with no vision. Think about sustainable long-term success. What do you think?
  11. To me, the question over protection of either girgs and Larsson comes down to : who would be more valuable in the playoffs? From a subjective opinion Larssons game /persona seems it would translate much more impact fully than girgs. His line with Foligno and gionta could had been a very good second line on a tank team And very solid fourth line on a contender. I just think Larsson is defensively minded enough to play a much more needed role. Don't get me wrong I love girgs but if his trade value also may be slightly higher. I think if I was gm I would find a team that wants him before the draft for as best assets as possible . I would then use those assets, possibly additional assets, and flip bogo to a team that can't hold on to their d. Just a thought . Id hate to lose him for nothing, and another team may see upside. With Rodriquez solidifying a role for dirt cheap at center, and because girgs is really only effective at center, I think it makes sense. Edit: this may be harder than it sounds because the new team would have to decide whether to protect bogo- they're not gonna take him and lose him. His cap hit is the only concern. There has to be ONE team out there that would trade a Lh top4 d for bogo and assets / girgs. I wouldn't mind parting a non lottery 1st (weak draft class) bogo girgs and a promising b level prospect for a top 4 d. Would just be hard to flip bogo to a team that could lose a d.
  12. I'm trying to think back about the Sabres, particularly between 05-07. The fans were OBSESSED with the Sabres and they would ALWAYS cheer them win or lose. fail or success. 15 shot minus differential, and 15 shot plus differential. But what I hear from a crowd during a game at KBC,and i may just be hallucinating on mushrooms so forgive me if i'm wrong, is BOOS- if there is a mistake/bad play/bad powerplay/ failed clearing attempt ect... In 05-07 fans would NEVER boo the Sabres if my perception of the time serves well. BOOING your OWN hometown team is the ultimate form of disrespect to me! Think about it, these guys sacrifice every part of their body 41 times at KBC. Most don't just show up for a paycheck, they are also very much aware of the interdynamic between the fan and the player, and they want to go balls to the wall because they are LOYAL TO THE TEAM and the CITY. and for the FANS, BUT- perhaps even from a "psychological" point of view, HOW can a player be loyal to a TEAM when the FANS aren't even loyal to the players AND BOO them!!? I get it- it's FN frustrating not seeing things like the PK -whatever- flourish. I get it. It's FN frustrating when they can't get it out of the damn zone. They are also a young team, and learning, they need all the confidence from the support from the fans, They're essentially sacrificing their lives, developing and learning as kids, while doing the best they can. Yet the fans basically say your S*it in the event of an inevitable mistake ? I don't know how many fans do this, but c'mon. give the kids some confidence. Cheer them for their efforts. BOOING only alienates the players from the city, team and fans. No one should blame Eichel for addressing the booing (i think he did..?). He is absolutely right in that case. critical assessment, restless crowd, and suspension of applause is normal BOOING is 6 FINGER hand slap in the face. The BOOING has gotta stop. It is utterly unacceptable.
  13. Lehner will be fine if he gets gts his sht together (particularly mentally). he actually could be a top 5 goalie one day eventually or very soon imo and i dont think he is very old...like 25? The goals that he does let in are garbage goals that can be corrected with positioning and better mental focus. basically saying the weak goals are correctable. first year as starter-young guy. be patient. also people need to respect his numbers more he is not bad. If a second round was traded for him i think consensus would be different. I will add, however, that if he continues to be relied on in shootouts and cant figure out how to stop the puck that is a MAJOR liability. In a way it almost invalidates from starter status, considering how precious pts are, especially for a team like the sabres
  14. No, he is not "damaged" and the choice between ahl/juniors is really 50/50. i'd prefer him in Rochester personally but ppl need to remember how young this kid is!! If he was a 3rd round pick 17 pts in 33 would by dynamite. high expectations cos draft status , but ppl should not worry. he is not damaged, and will turn into a phenomenal player who could possibly find a pivotal spot on jacks wing. each player has their own development rate, 17 pts- would not say necessarily struggling. Be patient, he will do well. btw anyone who wants to trade him should wait to see what he can actually eventually do at an nhl level and may want to reconsider that position. He is also clearly our best prospect lets just stop trading those at this point.
  15. so the edmonton player jumps into the goalie and its not goalie interference?
  16. imagine how good this edmonton team would be if they did not trade Hall. omg
  17. Am I just really high or do the sabres look truly elite? effort, communication, damn. they do look good
  18. At least we still have Tom Bauerle look-alike clone George Babcock
  19. If the Sabres passed on Nylander I guarantee it would come back to haunt them
  20. Pretty well-established fact that all Russian players choke in the play-offs %100 of the time. #notafraidtosayit
  21. Michael Ryan's first NHL goal in his first game was filthy
  22. Robin Lehner future # 1 franchise goalie for the Buffalo Sabres
