Andy Dalton likely out for the season with a broken thumb
-
And bingo was his name-o. Tyrod is mostly big mistake-free. He has a great deep ball (I could call him inconsistent on it but it's the deep ball so that's natural). He struggles in the mid-range and short throws. Not great at hitting the deep comeback which is Sammy's best route as a pro. The injuries and running will always give me hesitation. I wouldn't consider an extension until next year... He could blow up but in that case you're okay paying him.

Nope. Still don't agree. It's entertainment and an adult managing their own money/wardrobe.
-
That's a very liberal application of one's love for their Commander in Chief.

Tyrod was having a fine game with the same "meh" middle/short game but when it counted he faltered big time. Ugh.

Season.

The NFL rulebook is a mess

Screw unwritten rules that put unecessary constraints on basic day-to-day aspects of life. Seriously. I'm going to wear nothing but jerseys when I turn 45 just to with everybody.

HOLY SHITTTTTTTT WOWWWWWWW THE NOTORIOUS WITH A LEFT. Night night Jose

First time I've ever had money on a fight and Luke comes through for me. Rock hard for Rockhold.

Possibly the biggest fight in UFC history tonight. Can't wait to take it in at 716... Speaking of MMA this is still my favorite sports video on the Internet... Mainus was almost an in-law (no joke). In-laws are always such .

Challenge rule is absolute trash... Hardly want to watch games after that call. Also, drag your skate Gionta.

NYG Root Beer sucks. It's got the thickness and syrup of jager without the good taste.

Probably. Hence Backes. But they have to prioritize defense in the deal. I don't know if getting just one defender is enough. They've got Crosby, Beau Bennett, Nick Bonino, Eric Fehr and Matt Cullen if they don't get a second-line center back in the deal. The Blackhawks got away without a second-line center. If the Pens can add multiple legitimate top-four dmen then they'll be fine offensively. They've got Kessel, Hornqvist, Kunitz, Perron and a new guy by the name of Plotnikov who is a very good player if advanced stats are your thing.

Accurate. There's been a ton of tension there. Mario and his partners are trying to sell the team (obviously not to anybody who would move them). There were rumors of Crosby and Mario having a dispute but it was strongly denied. There hasn't been the typical reports of "Johnston deserved better/is a great coach" so far. I saw a tweet that joked Pens fans on Twitter have mixed reactions to the firing, ranging from happy to ecstatic.

Watching the trailer inspired me to rewatch Days of Future Past. These are better than the Avengers series.

Nope. But the natural suck that ends in a high pick won't hurt. Not rooting for it, though.

I think St. Louis is the best match. Malkin for Shattenkirk and Backes? Maybe a bit too rich on St. Louis' end. Shattenkirk, Gunnarsson and a prospect?
-
I think the Pens need to get a reality check and go for it this offseason. Deal Malkin for some defense. Many of the Pens fans I know have always been adamant that you can't deal Malkin but now they're actually pretty open to it. He's having a fine year and isn't the problem, but he may need to be the key to the solution. If they could send him for a package of a center and two top-four dmen they could get back in it.

Pens fired their coach and hired Mike Sullivan, their AHL coach.

Methinks we all get a bit ahead of ourselves on this team. There's obviously far more talent than what we've had the last two years, but there's still some big holes on defense and the lack of legitimate goal-scorers on the wings. Eichel is still a teenager (who has been a slight disappointment but not the type I'm worried about long-term). Which players in our current lineup are playing where (position & line) they should be? (This is based off of the lineups at the start of last night's game) McGinn - O'Reilly - Reinhart Kane - Eichel - Gionta Moulson - Girgensons - Larsson Deslauriers - Legwand - Foligno Gorges - Ristolainen McCabe - Bogosian Weber - Franson Johnson - Ullmark I bolded those I believe are where they should be. Few explanations: Reinhart - Despite his production he's still a rookie playing top-line minutes. Not ideal. Eichel - I bolded him purely because he's too skilled to be anything but where he is right now. Several deficiencies in his game that he'll hammer out over time. Moulson - Big disappointment, but I still think he's a third-line winger at worst right now. Production and play doesn't show us that, though. Entire 4th line - Whatever. I'd bold just about anybody you put there. Gorges - No. Not a top-pairing dman. Bogosian - Hasn't performed like a top-six dman since returning but I still think he is one when completely health and in a groove. Weber - No. Get him off the team. Franson - This is one I doubt even though I bolded him. His offensive game isn't nearly where it should be for how slow and sketchy he is on defense. Goalies - Due to injury neither are where they should be. Neither should be counted on for any level of consistent starts. Johnson could be a fine backup and Ullmark should be in ROC. So we've got a ton of guys in the lineup still playing more than they should or out of position. Two of our top-line forwards included in that. We've got some pieces, but we've still got some building ahead of us. I am still firmly in the "don't care about results" mode. I rooted for wins when they got to .500 but slipped back into not caring about results. I'm taking the year off and just watching/observing from a near-neutral standpoint. It has definitely been an interesting time to evaluate a team that's far more exciting but still missing so much of what makes good NHL teams. And I will quietly pull for losses if we get to 70 games and this team is in last place or within three or four points of it.

Hudson Fasching with two goals tonight (so far). Game is on the Big Ten Network. https://t.co/9YNLUYiCvB https://t.co/yW5RVLuO5K He's up to 7-6-13 in 14 games played (still a period left tonight).
