Trade Suggestion: Johansen Traded to Preds for Seth Jones
Hoss replied to wjag's topic in The Aud Club
I totally agree with those saying we aren't in a position where we need to go get him. I love Johansen and would give up a lot for him, but my "a lot" wouldn't be enough and that's fine. Big fan and I hope he goes somewhere that sees him as the "franchise"-type number one center. -
I think a part of the reason Trump is so successful is because the majority of Americans hate him but sit there with their heads up his ass, too. Stop giving him excuses and credit for being the way he is.

I hope nobody here watched WKBW's story on it, though. They showed the screen several times including a few key plot points and the end of the movie. -

It's going to take a lot more than Ennis, Foligno and a pick. -

Very very nice -
Made some minor changes to the list. Removed Pysyk (NHLer) and Ruhwedel (age). Will likely remove Reinhart, Eichel and McCabe late in the season. Carrier dipped while a few other prospects (including Brycen Martin, Anthony Florentino and Eric Cornel) got a bump. Didn't put too much thought into it due to time limitations. Not a lot to get excited about in this crop. Excluding the NHL guys I can see a path to the NHL for Fasching, Bailey, Baptiste, Guhle, Ullmark, Guhle, Martin and Florentino. Some long shots are Hurley, Dupuy, Cornel and Peterson.

Correctomundo. Wanting a thorough evaluation and research into refugees is absolutely correct and fine. But it's what's already taking place. And the government isn't doing a good enough job promoting these public hearings where they're providing the public with information on how the process works. It's very thorough.

I think he stumbled his way to support by the ignorant and then was like "######, this thing is really working!" A monkey could do what he's doing. I refuse to say a single positive thing about that doofus. He'll be gone soon enough. I'm sure his doctor missed something.

This is the only capacity that I talk about him. If I say his name out loud it just makes me want to scream or vomit. My hope is that those defending him here would realize how foolish they're being. Luckily there's only one or two.

Just so we're all aware exactly how the current wildcard race looks: Buffalo Bills 6-7 Remaining opponents: @ Washington (6-7) vs Dallas (4-9) vs NYJ (8-5) Combined record: 18-21 New York Jets 8-5 Remaining opponents: @ Dallas (4-9) vs New England (11-2) @ Buffalo (6-7) Combined record: 21-18 Bills tiebreaker: Will come down to Week 17 matchup, likely irrelevant Pittsburgh Steelers 8-5 Remaining opponents: vs Denver (10-3) @ Baltimore (4-9) @ Cleveland (3-10) Combined record: 17-22 Bills tiebreaker: Bills hold the edge due to conference wins Kansas City Chiefs 8-5 @ Baltimore (4-9) vs Cleveland (3-10) vs Oakland (6-7) Combined record: 13-26 Bills tiebreaker: Chiefs own this tiebreaker so a win or Bills loss puts them ahead The Bills are eliminated if they lose one more and any two of the other three teams there win once. This will still be the most important standing to watch: http://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/nfl-draft-scout/25414166/nfl-draft-updated-draft-order-through-week-14

20th biggest city in 1960. Bingo.

He most certainly does. But I think it's for a different reason than "trolling." And even if he is trolling it's outrageous that it's gone on this long.

I don't believe this for one second. I think Donald Trump is legitimately this stupid and this much of a person. I've dealt with enough out-of-touch rich people to believe there is an extreme that exists. I do not think Donald Trump is a smart human being. I think he's an idiot.

This is going to end like the Melo saga did. He's going to put it out there that he wants to go home (kind of already has) but the Leafs are going to wait too long and some other team will come in and drive up the price (like the Nets did) to get Stamkos which will to Toronto giving up more than they should have to get a guy they could've got in free agency.

I don't remember if it was this thread that we had the Bond discussion but something hit me last night: Everybody is all like "ahhhh you can't have a gay James Bond. being PC blah blah don't ruin it." Did nobody pay attention during Skyfall? Bond very clearly indicates he's either bisexual or has at least has sexual interactions with men before... Don't make James Bond gay, but I think it'd be a fine twist if he ended up having an encounter with a male.

Today in Donald Trump is a vile human being who doesn't deserve to breathe the air we all do: Putin endorsed Trump. Trump responded by saying he was honored to be endorsed by a true leader. Trump was asked if being endorsed by somebody who has journalists and citizens killed for talking/reporting against his regime and Trump says, basically, "at least his country has a real leader unlike ours." http://www.attn.com/stories/4780/donald-trump-vladimir-putin-endorsement

I'm just not counting Green Bay because it's such a nutty outlier. Isn't even close to any major cities.

I'm not making a Stamkos trade anymore unless it's an absolute steal and he extends prior to the deal. Steal as in like Zemgus, Ennis, Pysyk and a first. But that won't happen. I'll wait for free agency to see if he's actually interested in being here.

My fault. I thought I was in the thread asking about GoDD's ban.- 223 replies

This thread should be closed. SDS said his peace. The ban makes sense. But I see no reason for us to sift through the files and mind of GoDD. He was his own man and doesn't deserve to be held up while we beat on him. I'm sure he's a fine person. Let's move on knowing that we shouldn't continually ignore SDS' requests in the future or we will get banned. Lesson learned.- 223 replies

Anybody want to have a little fun as "armchair GM" for the entire league? Try to come up with three trades you think both teams should make that. Try not to include the same players in more than one deal. Here's my three: 1. Pittsburgh Penguins trade C Evgeni Malkin to the St. Louis Blues for C David Backes and D Kevin Shattenkirk The money works here as there's only a $250K difference that St. Louis would need to absorb. The big issue here is that Backes is a UFA after this season and Shattenkirk is a UFA after next season. Pittsburgh would likely want to add a contract and/or bring in draft picks on top of this. Shattenkirk can be moved largely due to the emergence of Colon Parayko on their right side defense. Malkin gives the Blues an imposing presence at center that they haven't had since their Hall of Famers retired. 2. Columbus Blue Jackets trade C Ryan Johansen to the Minnesota Wild for C Mikael Granlund and D Jared Spurgeon Nashville and Seth Jones are the popular match for the Blue Jackets on any Johansen deal. It would make sense, but I just don't think they can deal away Johansen without getting a good center back. Nashville has zero of those to offer. Similar to the deal above they'd need to re-sign both guys within two years, but they are both young enough to be used as building blocks for the future. Minnesota picks up an elite center which they've sorely needed after building from the wings. Spurgeon has been rumored for some time and is expendable due to their depth on D. 3. Carolina Hurricanes trade C Eric Staal to the Nashville Predators for D Ryan Ellis, G prospect Juuse Saros and a conditional 2nd Staal isn't a true number-one center anymore, but he can fill that role for Nashville for at least the rest of this season. Saros would give Carolina another top goalie prospect which they need as Ward and Lack haven't cut it. Ellis is easily expendable but likely becomes a top-four dman in Carolina for years. The 2nd is conditional on the Predators appearing in the Western Conference Finals and becomes a 3rd if they do not.
