If you’re consistently getting five years out of your first round picks you’re getting fired.

I’ve heard this before but using a first rounder on someone you only plan to keep around for five years is a waste.
-
I’ve been on the trade McCoy train for a few months. Don’t see a point to having him around if you can get future value for him. I know RBs are seeing a revival but I’m still not drafting one in the first if they’re not elite.
-
They took a chance. Cutting him moves his cap hit up to this year instead of next. I think overall it was a dumb move in the end but the hit is small.
-
Rapoport says it’s two firsts and a player. Depending on the player it’s still worth it.
-
My reading comprehension is off this morning.
-
Khalil Mack is heading to the Bears so he’ll be back in Buffalo week 4. No word on the return but Rapoport says the Bears will be making him the highest paid defensive player ever.

WHAAAAAT!? What about Mahershala Ali’s career makes you think he can’t pull off damn near anything? Dude is a machine. Also: A Quiet Place is VERY good. Strangely, Harvest Moon has been stuck in my head for a while now because of it. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski are a great match (maybe because they’re married in real life). -
UPDATE: Sam Reinhart signs 2-year extension -- $3.65MM per year

This assumes the GM is getting what he wants with whatever deal is signed. -
It’s Peterman if you want to go with who has performed the best and most consistent. It’s Allen if you believe starting a rookie is the best way to get them experience.

Idk if I believe either of these dudes on anything. White has said a lot of stuff that never panned out and this Chad dude came out of nowhere and hasn’t had anything of note stick. -
Neither are “great” (one might be on the way albeit wearing a different number) but Lacavlier and Taylor Hall.

Prediction time: which under-the-radar guy will make the NHL roster?
Hoss replied to nfreeman's topic in The Aud Club
I went with Nylander out of camp and Asplund as first up. -
NHL.com did a mock draft of current NHL prospects and we've got number one and... number two. <3 https://www.nhl.com/news/rasmus-dahlin-casey-mittelstadt-top-prospects-mock-draft/c-299894646
-
That guy also raged about how O’Reilly was our best player. He wasn’t. He said something about how it’s crazy to think the team will improve much if at all after getting rid of their best player.
-
Since Dahlin and Mittelstadt both count I don’t think there’s any way we’re not number one. For the record, Pronman said we’d be around #11 if you just subtracted Dahlin and Mittelstadt from the pool. But if you subtracted players that are near locks to be full time with their big club immediately we would rise again, one assumes.

Bogo is indeed switching to #4. His Sabres year he’s worn at on-ice workouts has it. I love #4 but I was actually a fan of #47, too. Strange but I like it. Tage Thompson has been wearing #72 since the trade. Not a huge fan of it but I like it more than 32 for a winger. No word on Berglund or Sobotka. Hunwick I don’t care enough about so I haven’t looked into him.

“Thank god we got rid of that extremely skilled douche bag for a handful of nothing.” They were “right” that he’s a little douchier publicly than other also douchey Hockey players but that in no way means they were “right” overall in their handling of the situation. A ton of hockey players are douchebags. A ton of good ones. Ones that win. Ones that lose. Seguin is not a douche because he’s frustrated to be going into the last year of his deal without a resolution. John Tavares just walked in free agency but if he had made his emotions clearer from the beginning there’s a decent chance New York doesn’t lose him for nothing. Plenty of players publicly state they aren’t happy with their contract situation. Plenty of players end up leaving. This doesn’t make Boston right in any regard.

No, no they weren’t.

I recall that now. I’m not convinced he’s reliable yet. I guess we’ll see. -

Speculation is fine. I do it as much as anyone. I just wasn’t sure if there was more than what I’d seen. I’m not sure Reinhart wants a long-term deal right now. He knows the ballpark of what he’s worth and might not think it makes sense. If that’s the case the opposite of what’s been speculated could potentially be true. -

Do you guys have some info on this? Just curious where we’re getting feelings and numbers from. -

I don’t think there’s a cinch of evidence out there right now dictating who is responsible for the status of Samson’s contract, let alone to talk actual numbers or years. As it stands I blame neither because I don’t know enough, there is still plenty of time and there are several other high-profile RFAs remaining. It’s a negotiation. Until I hear otherwise nothing is wrong. It’s not like a contract gets better as it marinated in the summer. I still have no reason to believe it will not be done before camp which is all that matters. -
I would trade a couple of those picks for Khalil Mack. Bleacher Report reporter says it might only take a first and second and Pro Football Talk says he may be more available than people think. But as far as draft pick deals: it’s super premature to think about moving up and down.
