Analytics pointed to that being a potentially great signing, but he just hasn't performed the same as last year under similar conditions...perhaps the added stress of being the defacto #1 goalie has gotten to him...something he didn't have any pressure with being the backup in Winnipeg.

Moneypuck analytics rank the Sabres as 10th in their power rankings. Look at Seattle at #3! Guess the Sabres losing to them wasn't as bad as it looked early in the year...they have gone on an 8-1-1 tear and have 31 points, only 4 behind Vegas.

Not a bad comparison...both were great CF% players and around the same values.

Likely won't see that until we get better goaltending. Only so much you can do when your goalies outside of your 41 year old are not even playing at a replacement level.

Cozens is a +4 on the season(tied for 4th best on the team). Mittelstasdt is a -9(2nd worst). Seems weird you are pointing out Cozens as being a defensive liability while you hold Mittelstadt up as a good player in his own end.

Exactly...so if we get 86 points this year and miss the playoffs versus 92 points and miss the playoffs but then our potential goes from 110 points to 98 points the following year from it, I am not interested. IMO, this team is still a year away.

Cozens is on a pretty nice 28G 36A 64P pace himself this year... The young kids are really taking some big steps this year... Need goaltending to follow ASAP.

Quinn is also the best regular Corsi player on the team.

I'd rather have the team oozing with talent that makes a Jersey like jump from one year to the next.

Still just a rookie, look at how long it took for Dahlin to grow into who he is now...I think Power is much farther ahead in his development tho.

Ridiculous they allowed 3 goals in under 6 mins in the 3rd to tie it, but nice job finishing it in a shootout. Face adversity, overcome it, mature as a young team... 3-1-1 in their last 5...LFG! That was such a sick move for a rookie...

Wow!! That is crazy!

Comrie and UPL have both been bad. UPL ranked 55 out of 74 goalies, Comrie 58th. Anderson has been good at 25th. Comrie is basically good for an extra goal allowed greater than expected every 3 games(-.334 per 60 mins).

We are not talking about singular instances in various situations. We are talking from an overall standpoint. Similarly to having no correlation to winning games, they have no correlation to possession numbers so it isn't out of the question that winning a face-off on the penalty kill would result in a puck to the corner that you would lose a battle on and the team on the PP would gain possession anyway.

Sabres seem to be more talented...defense injuries have really hurt this team especially during their 8 game slide and goaltending is letting this team down massively. Again. Funny how good goaltending almost cost the Sabres during their tank years and now when we are good enough from a rest of team standpoint to challenge for a playoff spot we can't get it consistently. Rehire Arturs Irbe as their goalie coach.

Dahlin is really starting to seemingly enjoy hitting people...something that was missing from his game.
