    Stralman was only cheap because many GMs are still idiots when it comes to evaluating defensemen. He's a legit top pairing guy. Sadly, I think Murray is the guy who would be trading an Anton Stralman away for peanuts because he's not big or physical enough.

    This point is especially important for me. He needs to demonstrate the ability to manage the cap. He hasn't yet. If anything, he's shown a total disregard for it. That's easy to do when we had a gazillion miles of space, and while Eichel and Reinhart are on ELCs. Those days are gone.

    Building on this, how long do you think is fair to give to evaluate those pieces? I think two seasons should be enough, and thus expect action this offseason. Both have been nice surprised for the length of a cup of coffee, with zero expectations on them. Again, just not the hill to die on.

    At what point do you re-evaluate your assessment of those pieces? This is one thing Darcy really struggled with. I'm becoming more than a little concerned Murray has the same fatal flaw.

    Is this really worse than deadline coverage when quite literally nothing is going on? Meh. Given we aren't expected to do anything other than Franson and Kulikov for picks, I don't get the demand to have wall to wall coverage. I'm sure if something big and unexpected happened, they could shift gears on the fly.

    It's worth noting that Matt Coller would typically be hosting the afternoon time slot, and he's not there anymore. That could be part of it.

    Foligno please. You build your team as opportunities present themselves. Shouldn't get locked into a rigid structure of when doing something is appropriate. I'm not giving up a ton for him, but he can play a role next year at the right price.
