  1. Wow, we iced some pretty awful brackets this year, Sabrespace. The Caps hosed a good many of us.
  2. Aren't you...a Yankees fan? Granted you were pretty young at the time, but yea. There's an argument for Magic, but Kobe ahead of LeBron is insanity. He wasn't even the best player on his own team for three of his championships! Your friends have horrible sports opinions.
  3. I'm totally on board with Housley, but I'm also a little disappointed Botterill won't have the chance to choose between him and Boughner. Yes, I'm conveniently ignoring the Tocchet possibility.
  4. I haven't heard anything about LeBron going to LA. And why would he? They're in even worse shape. They already have a bunch of max deals, but they were spaced out smartly enough, with some under the previous CBA, to not be problematic. Though I think both Curry and Durant are due new deals in the next couple years. LeBron did not start the super teams, he was only the most prominent to do it. Hell, we don't even have to go that far back: KG and Ray Allen to the Celtics.
  5. The Cavs-Warriors were pretty evenly matched last year, and it was flippin awesome (they were probably evenly matched two years ago too if the Cavs had had Kyrie and Love healthy). The Warriors then added Kevin freaking Durant, at worst the third best player in the league. The Cavs added...the decaying carcass of Deron Williams and 6th man Kyle Korver? Bleh. As a basketball fan, I'm just sad we've been deprived of a true runner match. And I say that without any animus towards Durant or the Warriors--I'd have done the same thing in their shoes. The worst part is I don't think there's any obvious move the Cavs can make this offseason to even it up again. Best hope for competition next year may be the Spurs adding CP3, and hoping Kawhi doesn't go down in game 1.
  6. Lehner. I think he's going to see a noticeable numbers dip if we play a more open game and expose him to a higher percentage of dangerous chances.
  7. I really hope Botterill isn't using what the previous GM did/paid to get players to determine whether he keeps them long term. The only thing that should matter is if we're better keeping them than moving them.
  8. Sir. Without a twitter account, how do you know WGR re-tweeted it? And get a twitter account man, you're too young to be so old!
  9. Well it is here, but it doesn't have to be. Plenty of other arenas do it differently. Aside from the despising children part, agreed 100%.
  10. Well, that's a little extreme. I simply wish the entire game day presentation wasn't tailored for kids/families.
  11. Vulgar? "You suck" is pretty far from vulgar, and far more tame than kids are likely to hear in random conversation among other fans in the arena.
  12. Manson yes. But no thanks to glass man.
  13. As someone who wants to trade Kane, I think he is currently a better player than Lucic. However, I think at his peak, Lucic was considerably better.
  14. Welcome back. I fully expect you to start pulling 100-hour Sabrespace weeks.
  15. I don't understand this reasoning. If the players are good enough to be contributing members of a team in the Cup Final, why would you or anyone else care that they're two inches shorter than your ideal? It's like falling in love with a beautiful woman and calling everything off because her hair is light brown and you prefer dark brown.
  16. A couple of quality defensemen so Ron Hainsey didn't have to be #2 in ice time wouldn't hurt.
  17. Too much. In both cases.
  18. Am I really one of two (?) people here who thinks Muzzin is a better player than Kane? If the deal is Kane-Muzzin straight up I'd be thrilled.
  19. The only circumstances I accept Brown's contract is if we also get Doughty. The deal is that bad. Five (!!!) more years at just under $6 million?   Yea, I'm not going to vilify Kane for being the same as 95% of pro athletes: it's about the money. This is Kane's best chance to sign the biggest contract of his life--he's going to want to cash in. I don't think it should be a stretch to assume this. As to who plays LW...anyone? The entire point of having elite centers is so you don't have to overpay wingers. Did anyone have a freaking clue who Jake Guentzel or Conor Sheary were before putting up points with Pittsburgh's top guys? Richard Panik? Patrick Maroon? Good wingers are oh so replaceable.
  20. Absolutely. We have to stop pretending he's some shutdown guy. Maybe he'll get there, but he's not there right now.
  21. Pfffffft. The desire to trade away useful-but-not-franchise pieces long predates the tank. Roy, Vanek, Pominville, Connolly, Myers, Satan, Hecht, Zhitnik. And more!
  22. Why? We get the better player at a position of greater need, and on a cheaper contract to boot. I don't want to give 7 years to a guy with Kane's injury history who will be 28 when the contract kicks in, and I don't want to invest $6 million in cap space in a non-elite winger who isn't a great fit with our best players. I just don't know much about him.
  23. *clapping emoji* Awesome!
  24. Yea he was listed a hair under 6'2, and measured in a hair under 6'. Are scouts dumb enough to let a few measurables drop him? I know NFL scouts are
