I hate that freakin' line. The _____ we need vs. the ______ we deserve. It doesn't mean anything. It didn't mean anything in the dark night, other than Christopher Nolan is a hack. Some men just want to watch the world burn. Pffffffffffffft -
Woke up this morning and took my aunt and cousin (who are from NYC) on a little hike and then made them breakfast. They're always putting my family up when we visit the city and it felt really nice to be able to return the favor. And it's just so fun to see them, they're the best. Now I get to enjoy my first day off from my new job, which is going really well. Things are fantastic.

It matters because it's a movie with Japanese characters. And I wouldn't feel the same way if it was the other way around because we live in a white-centric society where the majority of (especially hollywood) movie and tv show characters are white people. Now there's a movie with primarily japanese characters and they're all portrayed by white actors. Even my favorite shows (Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul) are very very white. And D4rk, I can neither confirm nor deny. But I mean, come on.

Last night I watched The Invitation. Wow. Best film I've seen in a long time. It's a psychological horror film. The creators of this movie have such control and knowledge of horror tropes and they turn so much on its own head. I recommend this movie to everyone. Is it reccomend or recommend? I've spelled it both ways today.

A couple of my personal disagreements: I consider Larsson an excellent third liner. And I expect Girgensons will be a complimentary top 6 winger. Good enough to hold his spot, but not at all the driving force of the line.

I saw Kubo and the 2 strings a few nights ago. Beautiful stop motion animation. The people that made this movie love Avatar The Last Airbender and all the Zelda games, it's alarmingly clear from the art style and setpieces. The setting is, in a nutshell, Japanese Mythology. The writing in the fist half of the movie was excellent, and I feel like if they had kept the movie simpler and slower paced then it could've really been something special. The end gets muddled and feels disconnected from the rest of the plot. But, NONE of the main characters are voiced by Japanese people. They're all white. George Takei is there to voice the smallest role imaginable. That's really not okay in my book, and broke immersion for me a few times. I'd still reccomend it. It's not a very kid-esque kids movie (and I'd prefer that it just be an adult movie that's animated, but oh well).

I thought this version was much better as a movie than the 1959 version. And they at least tried to make it about Ben-Hur. It had a really noticable lack of light-hearted moments after the 25 minute mark or so. They were trying to get the script down to a reasonable length for a movie. The cinemtography was meh on the most part. The chariot scene in particular was a joke. Why did they even bother? At least they built up to it and it served as the climax of the movie. In the '59 Ben Hur the chariot scene was this weird awesome 10 minute action scene in the direct center of the 4 hour runtime. I thought the acting was good. I'm still salty that they didn't get an actual Jew to play Ben Hur, but at least the rest of the Ben Hurs were jewish. Morgan Freeman had like one scene where he actually got to act, and spent the rest of the movie just kind of there. He has a narrative voiceover in the beginning and end exclusively because he's Morgan Freeman. His character was barely involved in the emotions of the story whatsoever. A narrator that's a character is supposed to be the narrator for some discernable story reason. I think the bottom line is that the story of Ben Hur isn't very good.

It's a remake of a '59 film. The ending's been out there a while. (The ending to this Ben Hur is a little different, but same idea pretty much)

No, somebody said what he quoted verbatim.

Oh god, I said "our." Blech. I'm not doing so well at distancing myself from the Bills.

Nylander is in a unique position. He's the last really good prospect we'll be getting, because I'm expecting this team to take off and be firmly in the 15-30 draft spot for the next four years. I think when Nylander finally becomes an NHL regular is going to have little to do with his actual date of NHL readiness (if such a thing exists). GMTM is going to want to have Nylander's cheap rookie contract coincide with as many contending years as possible. It's absolutely imperative that we have a mix of our expensive core (Risto, Eichel, Samson, O'Reilly, Okposo) and cheap young contributors outplaying their price tag by a few orders of magnitude.

We'll have a cup and be like "I don't care."

It wasn't thought provoking. And you bringing the meddling debate back into it isn't provoking any more thoughts.

Oh please. Nothing Aud said was out of line. I'd rather a mod nuke the thread. It embarasses me a little bit to have it on the front page.
-
I think the goal total depends on how much he plays with Eichel. If it's most of the season, I see ~25 goals easily.

Let's burn this thread like a cross at a KKK meeting. Sorry, light this thread.

I really don't think it's as bad as you're painting it. And it's definitely not that foreseeable, even though you foresee'd it. I think most GM's lock up the top 3 pick DT capable of racking up 10 sacks that has a weed suspension on the books. As for the won't play Rex's system thing, I don't really know who's at fault there. My intuition says Rex, considering how much better our D was under Schwartz. I guess time will tell.
