I can't make you retroactively enjoy Moonlight. It's a film, and it didn't seem to be to your taste. But yes, the acting was that amazing. Mahershala Ali is incredible. The three actor's that played Chiron and Kevin were amazing, especially youngest Chiron. Janelle Monae appears to be a literal angel, and the best triple threat around today. Coming in hot and saying Moonlight wouldn't have won without oscars so white was borderline offensive but I kept it cool. Now it seems like you really want to take the movie to task for... some reason. Bringing victim blaming into this too. Thanks old man.

What is your deal, though? You've slighted my judgement twice in the last 24 hours, despite admitting both times that you didn't have the information to judge the comparisons yourself. And you're forecasting that Jack will leave, which won't happen.

No, it's not. Our young, high end talent is much better than those teams, and much more likely to lead to long term success. Our supporting cast of not-too-old vets (O'Reilly, Okposo, and Kane) is also very good. We have so much under-utilized forward talent.

The Islanders, Flyers, and Cyotes don't have anything close to Risto, Jack, and Sam. That's what makes us different.

I really liked Lucas Hedges in Manchester. He was so fun, and I wish the movie had been bent around his character rather than Casey Affleck's. We get the freezer thing and that's basically the only representation of grief about losing his father. The way the movie's structured, I have no idea what the screenplay was trying to accomplish with the final hour. The flashback in the middle is the climax of the film, and the emotional center (also, that flashback is what I would call overwraught). I didn't find Casey Affleck's character to be interesting in the slightest. His acting was fine, but it wasn't even close to his performance in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. And it certainly wasn't in the same ballpark as Denzel in Fences. That's why he's not worthy, not because he's a scumbag. You can't say that politics shouldn't get in the way of who wins what because everything is political. The Academy has its own politics, and those politics heavily favor white actors. Also, the academy is fine with forgiving people we know to be scumbags and bigots. Mel Gibson's movie is allowed to win a bunch of awards and everybody is ready to forget that Casey Abuser Affleck is, indeed, a woman abuser. By saying politics shouldn't come into the decision you really mean that no politics but those of the academy should come into the decision.

If they'd have ripped off a winning streak at any point this year they'd be right in it.

Yeah, the arena being in Big Flats or Horseheads would make no difference.

When you see the way Samson, O'Reilly, Risto, and Okposo play next year I think you'll see it differently.
