I don't disagree with you to some extent, But only to some. In both cases you site, something was eventually indeed done. In those cases were the responses very late? Absolutely. But there were responses non-the-less.

I don't disagree they have their faults in presentation. I'm a critic of that as well. With that said, I believe in the core message of gun ownership rights. The old adage of guns don't kill people, people kill people is a very true statement. The weapon is a mere tool, no more or less than any other in history. As to those that question the ammo amount or the amount of magazines, while I don't disagree with your raised eyebrow to this how is one to actually know what an individuals intentions are with that ammo unless you personally know the individual and see the mind set of that individual. It's a hard question to grapple with i agree. And I further submit, I don't have an answer for you. I just don't know what can be done in that particular instance. I wish I did. But those around these individuals could report them, indeed in this most recent case that appears to have happened with no response. It won't stop it all, but it comes back to personal responsibility, not only for the weapon owner, but those around the weapon owner. The opposite side of this would naturally be "why is it my responsibility to watch others actions, where is their personal accountability?". And that would be a valid point as well. But again, the right to bare arms is what I am focused on. And to that end, the NRA does act as an agency to promote this, even if I don't agree with every aspect of their definition. Oh, and for the record, I'm not a member of the NRA but have owned fire arms since I was a very young boy.

I didn't say that. You just did. I stated that a majority of the military members I've had discussions with on this matter said they wouldn't. There are far more agencies in all levels of government then active duty military. The national guard (see Kent State massacre), law enforcement at all levels, clandestine agencies, the IRS (yes their agents can be armed) and so on. The point isn't about active duty military alone, merely that it helps when I've heard some that I've served with say they would not.

And once again, it's not the right that kills people with guns. I fail to see how you can honestly project the actions of an individual as the responsibility of anyone other than that individual. So, we do away with the 2nd amendment and guns are confiscated, Knife, baseball bat and cast iron frying pan deaths become the main killing methods of individuals, do we confiscate them as well?

I submit it's more relevant now than ever. Especially with power being gathered primarily in 2 political parties. There has been and continues to be a degeneration of real choice, thus, severely narrowing the ability of citizens at large to have real input into what governments at all levels are doing. I submit closed door sessions at local, county, state and the federal level combined with this concentration of political power are not only leading to the decline of this nation in leadership skills, but also puts various aspects of the nation at great risk, such as but not limited to economics, freedom to travel unhindered and property rights. I will go even further and say it's every citizens responsibility to ensure these types of events do not happen. One statement continuously used by many I agree with: "Freedom is not free". You have to be on guard and actively involved at every level, it may appear like a full time job, but Edmund Burke said it best: "The only thing necessary for evil to exist is that good men do nothing". This is true, it's proven to be true throughout history.

This is not true at all. As in early writings from some of the founders themselves will show you. Here is one from a liberal even. "The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." - Thomas Jefferson, in an early draft of the Virginia constitution I don't believe this one bit. Why should my right, written by the founding fathers, be altered to appease those who are looking for something that will never happen, Eutopia. The very essence of humans is no 2 are exactly the same. Just because some desire peace and harmony does not mean there are not those who look to gather power unto themselves and use that accumulated power for a means to their own ends and not the peoples. I submit the 2nd amendment combined with the armed forces being constructed by the citizenry itself keeps this in check. Conversely, the government doesn't have what we, the citizens have, and that is citizens themselves. Being an ex military member, discussions around whether or not we'd pick up arms against our own citizens was a topic of conversations, less than 1 in 10 said they would.

The words combined with the visual delivery of the core make it all happen ;) I can't see them moving Ville or buying him out. That cap hit is needed I would think. Also, who is going to step in as tank commander? Can't see Stafford doing much of anything with what little talent he has around him. Remember, in his 30 goal season, he scored what, 4 hat tricks, and with Vanek and Pommers still here during that time, he wasn't getting top end coverage on him. That's changed. Ville, as I stated, isn't changing anything in my opinion. He needs a game changer to play decent (Briere when he was with the Flyers). Ville isn't one to make things happen himself, he is a product of those around him, I don't see the Sabres bringing a player in to change that.

Why do you hold the NRA accountable for an individuals actions? Serious question. I for one, am more than thankful for the 2nd amendment. Does that make me a mass murderer? Does it make me, in your eyes, someone not to be trusted, or a future potential risk to society at large? I don't get all the hate towards an organization that has been a champion of one of our core rights. I don't pretend to know what anti-gun citizens believe, I can only speak to what I, as a gun owner, believe. I firmly believe in the militia type definition of the 2nd amendment, and to the end, it's not only against foreign threats, but threats from our own government. Does that make me a nut case? Let's look at the facts for a moment. There are several cases in the spot light where the government has used it's guns against it's own citizens, and not just in recent history. You can look them up, they are there. Look at what the army did against vets in 1932, where women and children were in fact, wounded or killed. And that's just one example. Ruby Ridge comes to mind as well for more recent events. The fact is, an armed citizenry is the only counter balance to any government agency using force on the masses.

This is very true. We have 0 offensive zone sustainability. It's actually priceless with the up coming 15 draft. I, for one, am totally impressed with the timing of this tank. It appears as though we might have a shot at building a contender.

On a side note, I love that avatar. That one should be housed in the Sabrespace hall of fame. Just an outstanding job. See, I told you all I'm a glass half full kind a guy

2014 Unrestricted Free Agency - Sabres Strategy

Battle Stations! Man the .50 Cal, close up the hatches, load the AP rounds and roll this tank into battle. Keep the school full for now, don't let the greenhorns into the battle until the ranks are completely filled out for our counter-offensive! TANK ON! -
I see the Sabres drafting 1st overall and one of 4/5/6/7.

Found it fitting for your comment, but don't know how to embed, anyone help complete the task?

Would be nice, but I don't believe the Blues regress that much. I can't see them repeating this season however. The most likely deduction by many is 23 to 27 overall pick in 15. I'd expect that to be a reasonable expectation. Personally, if they fall below the 20th overall selection I'd be ecstatic. As for the Islanders, I still see them as a 4th to 7th overall selection. If they over achieve (my personal estimation in any event) and end up 12th to 16th overall, I still wouldn't be disappointed. I would like Murray to take the Islanders and Blues picks along with one of those early 2nd rounders (Buffalo's even) to get up into the 7 to 9 spot. I firmly believe we have plenty of depth players for lines 3 and 4 in the system now, I'd like that 1st line top tier talent filled out and that 2nd line secondary threat filled out by the end of the 15 draft.

I agree with Eberle as the player. I'd like Yak but just a dream is all. Would I move Myers? No, not yet, still plenty of time on that contract and he is still fairly young. I'd like to see Zadarov and Risto come up and see if we can't find a partner in them for him. I'd love to see Zad's and Myers form chemistry, big bodied banging D man partner while Myers uses his wheels to move the puck. Ah yes, visions of chemistry...........

I have more respect for Jerry Sullivan than I do for Warren Buffet. -
I'd be asking if it was reverse karma :P But honestly, the Islanders pick is secondary to me for now, in any event, until we know where it stands towards the end of next season. I'm also interested in just how far the Blues will fall from grace. Will it be outside of the 20th pick? One can only hope. I'm much more focused on our roster next season combined with our secondary picks (rounds 2 thru 4) from prior drafts to see just how they are progressing with their development. I'm crossing my fingers for a Datsyuk/Zetterberg type player, and right now, Baptiste isn't disappointing thus far.

The Islanders have some young talent up and coming, but not enough chemistry, experience and time to put it together next season. In my opinion, it was a mistake for them to retain the 5th this year, I firmly believe they'll be top 5 again next year. They just don't have the chemistry with the oh so young talent yet to make it happen. Halak makes no difference for them this coming season, he'll be peppered, and he doesn't strike me as the type of netminder to rise to the occasion on that scale. I'd say 4th to 7th overall selection for the Sabres next season from them if that pick doesn't win the lottery. Not a bad haul for Vanek, not bad at all.

Accelerated advancement out of c school. Hit the fleet as a non-com, po3. Would have stayed but downsizing was coming, advancement much tougher.

excellent rankings and spot on. Anyone who believes Gilbert isn't the greatest sabre to date didn't obviously have the pleasure and joy of watching him play.

Bennet please.

I am a child of rape. My mother, being Roman Catholic did not believe in abortion. Don't send mom out, don't buy her extravagant or expensive gifts. The greatest gift of all is to spend the day with her. Memories of togetherness both past and present are the key to love, regardless of money spent. My 2 cents is all.
