I don't want to trade Reinhart but I agree with this. It's obvious he's already got one-foot out the door and he's as good as gone next season. So what is GMKA going to do to maximize the asset? I can also see Ullmark testing FA. Same deal with Risto, he's not signing here after his contract expires next year. This team is in a bad in place. What happens next year if the team is in competition for a playoff spot and the trade deadline comes and Risto & Sam aren't traded and then they walk after next season? Should the GM retain them for a shot at the playoffs or trade valuable assets? I have zero faith GMKA to do this properly.

Why on earth would Sam, or any player of his caliber entering UFA want to stay in Buffalo?

In his pregame presser before the last game Granato said it was going to be up to Linus and the coaching staff. If Houser didn't let in 8 goals I think they'd want to start him again but given that I think I'd be more motivated to have Ullmark start as long as he's ready.

At what point do the Pegulas have a moment of self reflection and say to themselves, "maybe this isn't working?".

The Rangers have been denying requests from other teams to interview Drury as a GM for the past few seasons, the Sabres included. He's been on track for this for some time now. I haven't heard of the Pegulas denying requests from any team who said, "That Kevyn Adams guy you got there who has zero GM experience, mind if we slide into his DMs?"

Part of me would like to see Oloffson traded. He doesn't belong on the top 6 and is allegedly a powerplay specialist but since Granato took over the PP has seemed to not actively set him up for one-timers. The other part of me realizes that for a team starved for goals you shouldn't trade a cost-controlled player who is 2nd on goals on the team. If KA gets a great deal for him, I'd take it, else you hope Jack can stay healthy and keep feeding him on the PP.

The problem was Jbot signed Hutton to a 3 year deal. He was untradeable and the contract was up at the end of this year. I can kind of understand why Adams didn't do anythign this year (banking on increased offense) but things obviously went off the rails. Is there a more tragic combination than that of Jason Bottril and the St. Louis Blues?

Since that's worked so well for us the past....decade. Even if Buffalo goes .500 for the remaining 7 games and all the other bottom feeders lose out we'd still draft top 3.

If it comes down to this then I'm exposing Girgensons and Thompson. We know exactly what to expect out of Girgensons, he's not developing any further and is overpaid at 2.2 M Thompson is such an underwhelming player to watch, I wouldn't miss him and losing him in the expansion draft for nothing would really put the final level of icing on the cake that was the ROR trade. Asplund has 6 goals in 21 games, that's ~24 goals over the course of a normal season. I know his minutes will decrease next year with a healthy Eichel but I still think Asplund is improving. There's no way I'd expose him. From the little I've seen of Bjork he always seems like the fastest guy on the ice and I'd rather have his speed over Thompson ability to be...tall? If I'm a Kraaken and I had to choose between Girgensons and Thompson I'd say, "What D do you have to offer?"

There was a stretch of 10 games this season where Okposo was a point-per-game player. My advanced statistical model predicts he will start producing even more as he gets older and more broken.
