  1. The bigger question is can he stay healthy for an entire season? If yes, then yes, he can. Jack proved he can play at almost a point per game pace after coming back from the ankle injury. He's also got another year of experience under his belt. If he stays healthy he'll be around a PPG, I'm gonna be optimistic and say 90 points for Jack this year, good for somewhere in the top 5.
  2. I also think it's just a lack of an established top-6 winger. Who else will realistically fit there? It just dawned on me that August is the last full non-hockey month before the season starts. 42 days until our 1st preseason game and 59 days until the puck drops to start the season. Does anyone know when training camp starts?
  3. I've been trying to put together my preferred projected line-up for the past 15 minutes and I'm struggling to put something together that's coherent and satisfying. There's too many extra pieces (Moulson, Girgensons, D-Lo and no solid set of top 6 wingers and it all becomes so interchangeable, add in the prospects who may be ready to make the jump and it becomes even more confusing. Thoughts: - I think D-LO will get waived at some point in the season. - I agree with Liger that Eichel & Okposo should be playing together. I want to see Byslma's concept of "pairs" blown up as it obviously wasn't effective - I also like the idea of Reinhart feeding Pommers as a 3C - Moulson is an anchor in this line-up. He's at the stage in his career where he has to change roles and I haven't seen anything from him that suggests he's going to be able to pull that off - Based on what I've seen from JBOT, I wouldn't be surprised to see rookie talent on the top line or two, however, these will have to be earned and I'm inclined to believe the season will start with as few rookies as possible and they will be called up over the course of the season as injuries occur. Here's two scenarios I mustered up guessing which rookies will make the team out of camp based upon whether or not Reinhart is Centering the 3rd Line: Projection 1: Kane / O'Reilly / Fasching Nylander / Eichel / Reinhart Pouliout / Larsson / Pomstein Moulson / Josephson / Girgensons Projection 2: Larsson / O'Reilly / Baptiste Kane / Eichel / Girgensons Pouliot / Reinhart / Pommers Moulson / Josephson / Fasching
  4. He'll get 9.7 million, Jbots way of always reminding him McDavid is better than him and he should work harder to make that statement not true.
  5. How many pushups can Middlestat do?
  6. I can't wait to see this kid play on Eichel's wing. Do NCAA prospects get to attend training camp or does that interfere with school?

  8. I think this is a great signing. 2.4 million isn't that much for a defenseman. His 28 points last year puts him as the #2 defensive scorer on the team and 9th skater overall. The 2 year term is fine, especially as he's still an RFA. This is a great deal for someone we acquired for a 3rd round pick. The board also seems to buy into HCPH being a "D-whisperer" so I think his game will improve as well. What's not to like about this?
  9. In my spare time I'm an amateur bird photographer. I've got lots of bird butts on my computer. Non-butt photo of a Pileated Woodpecker:
  10. Is there anyway to upload an image directly from my computer on this? I consider myself to be somewhat savvy but I struggle, immensely, when trying to post images to this forum. Abstract image of the arsehole of a turkey
  11. It's worth it to shell out the $5-$10 a month for a reliable VPN, I don't have any suggestions because I haven't used one for awhile. When I used to subscribe to gamecenter back in the day you were unable to log in and watch simultaneously from multiple accounts.
  12. I'd gladly pay for NHLtv if the playoffs were included as well. I don't own a TV so even if I wanted to sign up for cable television (which will never ever happen) I don't have the ability to. I'm forced into the Reddit / private facebook streams for the playoffs and regular season and while I can get the games, sometimes it's a hassle, a hassle I'd gladly pay to get rid of if the NHL gave me a chance to pay for it. Ugh, this post is making me think about cable television and I'm getting the shudders. Whenever I go home to my parents I'll throw on the TV and turn it off after 15 minutes. It's beyond me how people can sit through so many commercial breaks.
  13. The idea in my head was geared to the US / International (non-Canadian audiences) because if I remember correctly the Rogers deal is enormous. My dream scenario is that some online giant (like yahoo, twitter, facebook or Amazon, etc.) strikes aggregating local broadcasts where you sign on and just select which feed you want to watch, eliminating National broadcasts like NBC or whatever. I've never turned on a broadcast and thought "oh wow, we get the national broadcast, this is way better". It'd be tough to pull off and would be risky and would probably start by losing a lot of money, but I think if the NHL truly embraced sports for cord-cutters, they could grow the game immensely. They could be pioneers here. This doesn't get around being able to view the playoffs, which in my mind is the whole point of subscribing.
  14. Not that I have any faith in the league being able to pull this off, but I think the NHL is sitting on a golden opportunity to shake up the "broadcasting norms" for sports and they should look into delivering their games via legitimate streams and dump NBCSN or whatever they have that shows 1 or 2 games a night. Want to grow your product? Make it easily available. Let people watch out of market games, implement a plan to end the insane blackout restrictions. Yes, I know they have NHLtv or whatever, but that product is crap. I refuse to pay for a subscription to a sports league that doesn't allow me to watch playoffs. What's the point? There is so much money to be made on targeted online revenue. Imagine how many people you can reach if they'd embrace the future and open up access. There's no way this will ever happen because the league is run by dinosaurs.
  15. If the arenas served avacado toast....
  16. This past Saturday NorthBuffalo and I decided to have our own SabresSpace meetup in NYC. He came down to play on my Saturday beer-league team. It was a fun game but we ended up losing 5-3 after an empty netter sealed our fate. Bonus points for NB rocking the Goat. Gotta love the power of the internet!
  17. One of the greatest tragedies of this or any generation is that RJs twilight years have been pissed away on the tank years.
  18. Do at least 2 pull-ups as well
  19. He had the matching glove and waffle to go with it. My goalie flew in from France for the weekend to play in the tournament. Dedication if I've ever seen it (he's a commercial pilot so he flied for free but still).
  20. This post is about 2 months late but it's Friday afternoon and I've got the time to post it now. I started playing ice hockey about 2.5 years ago, and the past 3 memorial day weekends I've participated in the NYCGHA's "Chelsea Challenge" hockey tournament. This past event they asked me to captain one of the teams in the lower division. I'd never captained anything sports related before and I was a bit apprehensive but went along with it. My team ended up winning the tournament and it was a blast. Afterwards I was thinking about it and I realized I'd never been part of a winning sports team, be it playing for or rooting for. 30 some years and not one championship celebrated until then. To be fair, I didn't really play sports in high school but still, that's a lot of losing over the years. I really can't wait for the Sabres or Bills to make it all the way. The energy in the city is going to be something else.
  21. I thought it was settled that Eichel will be captain and we decided to debate more important matters such as Jeri Ryan's....assets?
  22. Netflix has all the series. The past....5 years or so I've been falling asleep to Star Trek every night. I rotate through each series. I'm probably on my 4th re-watch of them all at this point.
  23. I'll one-up you. If Jack isn't the captain when the season opens I will take to the internet, purchase a jar of enzo sauce, and eat a sandwich with extra enzo sauce.
  24. Exactly. There's definitely some locker room politics in play with the decision. Does he 100% deserve it this season? Of course not. But in time he will so you let him grow into the position. I also think it will push Jack to be even better. I think spiderman once said, "With great responsibilities come great snipes" or something. Maybe it was his uncle.
  25. There's no one formula for naming the captain, every team is going to do it differently. Not every team has a McDavid, Crosby or Eichel or Matthews on it where you bestow the captaincy on a young star before he's "ready" but it's the right choice because you know damn well he's going to be the face of franchise for the next decade +. We are lucky enough have suffered enough to be a team that has elite talent and the captaincy is going to go to Jack.
