Isn't Montreal hurting on defensive depth? They traded their blue chip prospect for Drouin, Emelin was drafted by Vegas, Markov went to the KHL, Baloo is here. Did they bring anyone in? I don't get this move from their perspective (other than knowing they love their hometown french-speakers) but I like it from our perspective.

Jagr needs 50 points to surpass Gretzky's assist total which would disrupt what I consider to be one of the most absurd stats in any sport...Gretzky having more assists than any other player has total points. Can he do it? He'd probably need 1 more season after this and it seems pretty slim he'd be re-signed. Who knows though.

Does Griffith have to go through waivers to get to the AHL? If so I think he'll definitely start the season in Buffalo and be sent down if he doesn't perform.

I never thought Pouliot would be in danger of being waived/sent down but I'm curious to know whose gonna drop if Bailey makes the team out of camp. Is it really possible that Mouslon gets waived? That'd be a hell of a message being sent by HCPH and I'm all for it although I doubt that happens. We have to cut 2 of Pouliot, Bailey, Mouslon, Nolan, D-Lo and Griffith, right? My thoughts are that they send down Griffith and Bailey and don't call them up until the injury carousel starts to pick up steam. I'm also curious to see what JBot does with Nolan and D-Lo. Is Nicks' time up?

Does Bailey sitting essentially mean he's Rochester bound? I haven't been paying as much attention as I'd like. How has Griffith looked? He comes off as the prototypical Luke Adam type. Does he actually have a shot at making the team or do we think he'll be heading back to Rochester after tonight? I like the Nolan pick up and I'm hoping for a few games this year we see a 4th line flanked with D-Lo and Nolan (assuming none of them get waived before the season starts). Games I'd like to see this line is vs. the Bruins, Flyers and Rangers.

I hate when I go somewhere with baked brie because it's too easy to ingest in excess of 3k cheese calories. I agree that Dunleavy is borderline un-listenable over the radio, it's impossible to follow the game the way he calls it. If Pegula wants to put his billions to good use he should look into cloning RJ.

This is not true, I feel like this entire board has been griping about this contract for the past 2/3 years. Murray was a rookie GM and it showed, I did forget the Kane trade really helped the tank (bringing in a great player who couldn't play that year). I don't think we can put a final stamp on him until we see how Lehner, Asplund, Pu, Guhle and his other draft picks pan out. At this point, I don't think assembling a losing team and fleecing Sakic qualify you as a good or even competent GM.

How do you feel about Murray? It might be a little early to judge him as we have to see how his non Jack/Sam draft picks pan out but we are hampered by the contracts of Bogo/Gorges, he was fast and loose with all the draft picks he acquired during the tank, the jury is still out on Lehner, he did nothing to address the Defense last year once injuries hit. The only move preventing GMTM from being, in my mind, a complete disaster was the ROR deal.

Are teams only allowed to broadcast a certain number of pre-season games? The Pens are broadcasting this game and a whole bunch of other games have been broadcast as well.

Buffalo isn't broadcasting video and a cursory google search leads me to believe the Hurricanes are also no providing a broadcast. I say this every year, the NHL is disgrace for not proving video for pre-season games. Aside from that I'm really excited that hockey is finally back. MUST. WIN.

Actions do indeed speak louder than words. Sure, DDB said that but did he do that? No. He did not and that's why we hate them. HCPH has the benefit of the doubt. He's saying that so we should take his word for it. If in 6 months the on ice product does not reflect that we can then take out the pitchforks, hell, we don't even have to sharpen them.

Nothing pissed me off more hearing Blysma speak to the media game in and game out talking about how much more talented the other team was and how they needed to be contained. The vibe he gave off in pre-game interviews sounded timid and scared and just reeked of a loser mentality. Ugh, good riddance.

If one of each happens there's no doubt in my mind we make the playoffs this year.
