There is less than 0% chance that Tavares will sign here. (IF) He's leaving Long Island because the organization is a mess and he wants to compete for a Stanley Cup, not join up a team whose restarting their 2nd rebuild after floundering in the basement of the standings for 1/2 of his career.

There was an understanding between Murray and Antipin that they'd sign him once his contract was up in the KHL and FA opened for the NHL. Murray did the legwork but Botteril pulled the trigger. If Jbots didn't want him then he would not have signed him, plain and simple.

It's not out of the realm of possibility for a team to turn it around in the off-season and that's the hope I need to cling to (because why else would I be here?). Before the team gets better JBOTs needs to get rid of at least 3 or 4 of the following players Moulson, Pommenville, Bogo, Larsson & Girgensons, the first three b/c of their contracts and the Larsson and Girgs because they've been here long enough for the suckitude to seep in deep and are unsalvagable on this team.

Glad to see Baptiste off the 4th line...hopefully he uses opportunity to shine. What is our #2 PP unit going to look like? Woof.

The defense was terrible on both of the goals but Lehner got burned so badly on both of them, they were misplayed just as bad on his part as the lack of effort from the defense. I decent goalie saves at least one of those. He's obviously not the only problem, certainly isn't the biggest problem on the team but I can't stand his attitude and can't wait until he's somewhere else.

What is going on in Ottowa? How do you go from the ECF to blowing up your entire team, especially after going out and acquiring Duchene?

I'd hope to bring in some actual talent and not just draft picks. Nobody has the patience to wait for another crop of draft picks to pan out. Murray really us with his asset management.

My predictions are that the returns we receive will be bordering on the whelmed/underwhelmed. Kane is going to be gone. I hope Gorges gets moved but I'm not sure considering his cap hit. I'm interested to see if any of these trades will be part of bigger packages. I can see Pouliot, a handful of prospects in Rochester, and draft picks being swapped around. There's nothing I want more than to see Lehner get traded but I don't know why any GM would want to trade for him.

If I had to define the "core", I'd limit to Eichel, ROR, and Okposo and he's only on this list because his contract is untradeable but unlike Bogo or Pommers he can still bring value if you build around him accordingly. Risto and Reino could be in there but they could just as easily be traded to be replaced with potential core pieces.

What makes you think the organization has the competency to finally get a jersey right? Their track history suggests otherwise.
