Sabres Trade Nick Baptiste to Nashville for D man Jack Dougherty
Mustache of God replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
If this is true, how on earth do you have that kind of recall? Color me impressed. -
Agreed with the bolded. I have no issue with Tennyson making the final roster if his purpose is to keep the seat in the press-box warm. As soon as or if Bogo is ever good to go Tennyson will be sent down to the club. Tomorrow marks 1 week of the Columbus day that Bogo was injured in...at what point does day - to - day become week - to - week? As for Botteril not addressing the defense, winning the Dahlin lottery was enough to satisfy me for the current off-season. The biggest need for the Sabres is scoring goals and I feel that was addressed with Skinner, Sheary and getting Reinhart re-signed. I'm not sure what other moves he could have made to shore up the blue-line this off-season. We only have 2.8 million left in cap space, and short of trading any of the 2019 first rounders (which i don't think he should do), who from this team could he trade in exchange for an upgrade on the defense? I also wonder what kind of consideration is being had for the impeding Seattle expansion draft. no

Woof. That's a terrible way to start the season. I would have loved to see Wilson playing on the 4th line on this team, pushing Girgs or Larsson out.

Sure am! Prediction threads are time for unbridled enthusiasm. Imagine how much fun ti will be if we have multiple 40 goal scorers and one or more of the rookies can make an impact? Surely this is the year of the Buffalo Sabre.

Does Wilson's injury mean Larsson has a spot on this line-up once he's no longer day to day?
-
I think Pilut hasn't been sent down either but my guess would be that he is as well.
-
I think it looks like this and I think were one player over the 23 man limit and one of the forwards is going to have to go. When Larsson is healthy do they waive him or send Nylander/Thomspson down? I hope Larsson is the odd-man out, we've seen what he brings and he's been tainted by the tank. Bring in the youth. Forwards (15) Skinner-Eichel-Reinhart Nylander-Berglund-Thompson Rodrigues-Mittelstadt-Okposo Wilson-Sobotka-Pominville Reserves: Girgensons, Sheary, Larsson Defense (7) Scandella-Ristolainen Dahlin-McCabe Beaulieu-Bogosian Nelson Goalies (2) Hutton Ullmark

Was $90 the face value of the ticket or is it a small arena and high demand on the secondary market? Is that USD or CAD? I hope for your sake they win in an entertaining fashion. 13-0 sabres.

No morning skate (they're doing a team building exercise instead). Don't expect to see: Eichel, Risto, Larsson, Sheary, Malone, Bogo, Hickey, Scandella or Hunwick due to maintenance/injuries Do expect to see some mish-mash of the following (3 below will need to sit out and it's a safe assumption the "vets" will be those 3 Okie, Skinner, Pommer, McCabe, Beaulieu) Nylander - Berglund - Reinhart Rodrigues - Mittelstadt - Thompson Bailey - Sobotka - Okposo/Skinner/Pommer (2 of these 3 will sit) Wilson - Girgensons - Baptiste Defense: McCabe/Beaulieu (1 will sit) - Dahlin Guhle - Nelson Pilut - Tennyson

I believe this is the only pre-season game that doesn't have a home or away broadcast. 6/7 ain't bad, an improvement from last year (which had 2 un-televised games). The good news is that it's Friday night so there's other stuff to do. I read the Oshawa game between the Sabres v. Islanders was put together last year with the understanding that Tavares would be playing as I think he's either from there or played junior there and is a person of local importance in some way. Womp womp. Hoping Nylander, Thompson and Mitts all have hat-tricks and nobody else gets injured. Next game after this is the opener vs. Boston. Let's go!
-
I'm a bit surprised we didn't see Reinhart line up at center at all during the pre-season. Does this mean he's definitely a winger now and the C experiment is over?
-
Wasn't Tennyson the player Phil had a love affair last year and he somehow got a lot of ice-time that was baffling at the time?
-
So if i'm reading the remaining player correctly...we need to cut 1 D-man and 2 forwards? I'm guessing Pilut will be sent down. That leaves Thompson, Nylander, Baptiste and Bailey on the bubble for the 23 man roster (2 goalies, 7 D, 14 F) If I had to guess we're keeping up 1 of Nylander/Thompson and 1 of Baptiste/Bailey although if I was GM I'd keep Nylander and Thompson.

Ogelvie got sent down yesterday, the rest look about right.

The Athletic Vs. BN - Going to buy only one....
Mustache of God replied to Buffaslug's topic in The Aud Club
I live outside of Buffalo so the Athletic is an easy choice for me. The Bills/Sabres coverage has been great so far. One thing I've noticed is that they don't really do game recaps (maybe for the regular NHL season) but I can get those on Nhl.com or wherever else. Wish they had a better scoreboard feature as well but whatever. Since I've subscribed I've been reading a lot more about goings on around the league in much more detail because it's right there on my feed. They also have guys who break down the advanced stats in a way I've never seen before, which is good if you're into that. I fully endorse what the athletic is doing and don't understand people who whine about paying $6 a month for content. -
Radio.com is so bad. Sometimes on the APP i'll try to play WGR550 and i'll get caught in an AD-loop where it only plays ads and if i'm not paying attention it will just run ad after ad after ad with no actual content.

Okposo standing up for Dahlin at the end there. Like seeing that from the vet. Also Dahlin has tried some "creative" moves in the O zone but has been stifled.
-
I agree, I'm over the pre-season and ready for the real deal. These boards are going to be the difference tonight with some wonky bounce.
-
i'd like to see jack shoot there, there was no pass.
-
I wonder how those tickets were distributed. Only 2k seats? Must be great to be there.
-
I'll be watching tonight. Aside from the goalies each forward and D line has something I want to see. Expecting big things from Jack Line, would like to see continued chemistry between Nylander and Bergland, hoping Casey does SOMETHING and I've never seen O'Regan skate so I'd like to see what he's about. I predict Dahlin nets one tonight.

Am I the only one who thinks Gritty is an acceptable/great mascot? The internet seems to be having a brain stroke over this. Gritty looks fun and zany, something kids will love. I think he's everything a mascot should be.

What a sobering read, makes me feel bad for dogging on him last season. I'm officially giving KO a clean slate and hope/expect he turns it around a bit and gets back to form, if that's at all possible. While reading this part of me is thinking "why on earth aren't you retiring after this?" If he's soley driven by being a father/husband, why risk everything like that? One bad hit can set this all off again, no? I suppose that applies for all players though, but he's got perspective. I don't know. This coupled with the Lehner article really paints a picture of how furked that locker room was. I'm half expecting another article in 2 weeks about Johan Larsson's spiral into the seedy underworld of Furries and his personal struggle living as a closeted golden retriever.
